I watched The Gentleman (movie, not show) over a week ago, and I'm still thinking about Raymond Smith and Michael Pearson. I swear I love them both so much.
I know Matthew McConaughey isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he did such a good job in this movie. Then again, I'm a sucker for any man who adores his wife as much as Michael does. That man would burn the world for her, and it shows throughout the movie and Matthew's performance.
As for Raymond, I don't even know where to start. He's just professional but also funny when he wants to be. I love all his flaws and his strengths. You can tell Charlie Hunnam had fun with this one. His interactions with Hugh Grant's Fletcher was just top-notch. As was his few interactions with Colin Farrell.
Anyway, I wrote all this to say I like Charlie Hunnam, but I wasn't really interested in this movie despite the such high profile casting as it were. That is, I wasn't until @navybrat817 gave us such a wonderful version of Ray in her Hold You Tight AU. This new love I have for the movie and these characters is entirely her fault.
And I love her for it.
I swear I'm catching up on that AU and all your other stories as soon as I can.
I'll happily claim responsibility for that! Love the film. Love Mickey and Raymond (I need this man, okay?). I may need to put the movie on again for background noise. ❤️
