Percy and Annabeth’s Reunion! I love this moment, I had to draw it
the seven being friends :)
Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus sketchdumps! :D
She hugged Percy tighter and kissed him. ‘Tell me about New Rome,’ she demanded. ‘What were your plans for us?’ ‘New Rome … For us …’ ‘Yeah, Seaweed Brain. You said we could have a future there! Tell me!’ Annabeth had never wanted to leave Camp Half-Blood. It was the only real home she’d ever known. But days ago, on the Argo II, Percy had told her that he imagined a future for the two of them among the Roman demigods. In their city of New Rome, veterans of the legion could settle down safely, go to college, get married, even have kids.
- The House of Hades
Remember when we all said “I will forever go down with this ship” and we actually went to tartarus with them? Yeah, me too. All those years ago I laughed and cried for them and now that Im older and reread this I cried even more. Im still so inspired by these two and I will forever love them. Here is some art I made while bawling enjoy ;_;
“Two pair of shoes by the door, two toothbrushes in the bathroom, and two aprons in the kitchen. Everything will be in pairs. In a house where we keep those, will you enjoy today, tomorrow, and all of your time... with me?”
— Hong Du-sik, Hometown Cha Cha Cha
(the best proposal ever, if it's not a love like that, I don't want it)
well i hope you weren’t having too good of a morning
"You know, I love everything here.
The bonfire, the sound of the waves, the sound of the water, the scent of summer, the stars,
And you.
Out of everything that exists in this world,
I like you the most."
- Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, 2021
Sophie Turner and Jonathan Van Ness meeting for the first time
its like two drunks girls meeting in the bathroom
there's so much of homecha that doesn't quite translate it's such a korean show. like when they brought up the same idea as in when the camellia blooms 사람 잡아먹는 팔자. people born with a fate that eats the people around them. they're not just saying dusik brings death with him they're saying his astrological fate (4 pillars 8 letters) is killing people and he is destined by the universe to be alone.
traditionally koreans practice ancestor veneration and family/clan ties are the biggest aspect of people's identity and your fate, worth, and future are a collective identity u and ur family share. if ur an orphan it means you've been abandoned, u r disconnected from ur lineage and you've done something in a past life that affects all the relationships you have in this life.
and the whole show has been working to undo this idea that it can be someone's fault they live a lonely life or that u can be destined to be lonely forever. and not in a way that says the traditional korean beliefs that inform that opinion are outdated and incorrect but by focusing on how in korean culture fate is defined as relationships and their consequences. acts of kindness and opening urself up to new ppl and reaching out can change your fate, dusik's kindness to hyejin set in motion the 7 years luck flower hyejin's dad bought for her and then it was revealed that it was dusik's grandpa's wish that even brought her into dusik's life over and over. people loving each other can counteract destiny and open opportunities for different kinds of fate. and human beings were meant to be in community together and change each other.
I’ve lived for thirty-four years without you, but each day seems to last forever since I met you. Yoon Hye Jin, what’s your deal? What have you done to me?
the theme of food as a love language in the drama... peeling crabs even though it's troublesome... making chamomile tea for you so you can sleep well... trying my hand at making porridge even though that is absolutely not my area of expertise... devouring that terrible porridge... drinking the bitter tea... because it's you that gave it to me and i would swallow all the bitterness you give me... making you food as a way to reconcile and show that i still care, to take back those harsh words i threw at you... remembering you like seokbakji even though it's been years ago...
Well… However, right now, this is a special occasion. It’s my fault you got injured.
a purely self-indulgent study of hye-jin and du-sik as a couple
they’re so comfortable with each other. they touch each other so casually, as if it’s not the first time, as if it’s somehow already familiar. it’s how they’re half-leaning into each other anytime they’re together. it’s how they’re already holding hands, and yet hye-jin still reaches over with her other hand to hold his wrist. it’s how du-sik wakes up from his nightmare, terrified and in pain, and his first instinct is to call for her, to reach for her, to turn his face into her neck and close his eyes.
both of them grew up too fast, were hardened too quickly by pain. they went through life with their heads down and eyes forward. so yes, it makes sense they’re acting childish now that they’re together. because love does that, right? it remakes the familiar into something new. things like the sunrise, the ocean, a name now have radiance, so they cannot look with anything but wonder; a child lifting their head to see the stars for the first time.
after their date in seoul, when du-sik is reeling from his past and hye-jin, in all of her tragic kindness, thinks it’s her fault. the way she tries, clumsily, to fix it by selling her necklace, taking a step back. and then du-sik simply says oh, is that what you thought? that’s not it at all. don’t do that yourself. here, i built you a jewelry box for your necklace. i can’t buy it for you, but i can do this. i can sit beside you and give you a home to keep it in. hye-jin takes the box and talks about how pretty it is, but she’s looking at him while she says it.
i know they talked about fate, about destiny, but i don’t think it’s anything so abstract. i think it’s the way a planet’s orbit bends slightly when it drifts close to another. our paths are still the same, more or less. only now, mine’s a little slanted towards yours.
