@okcecil-blog
As depressing as it may seem, it’s very true.
Uh, no? You're, like, fourteen. How can you be so sure about it?
' Yeah—granmda Ceci, that's what I meant. ' She'd be lying if she said that didn't dull her worries. Maybe he was okay? She got up and sighed, biting her lip. ' So are you ready to go to dinner, or? Maybe you need some food in you. ' Cecilia masked the concern, willing a smile to come to her face.
Cecil felt a little better; not okay, but better than whatever it was he felt before. He silently prayed to any god or goddess he could think of. It's been what, five months since the last time it's happened. It lasted for hours. 'Cecelia must so fucking weirded out,' he thought. Cecil stood up from his spot and moved toward the door. "Yeah. They're waiting."
That's actually kind of depressing. And not true.
' No, you're not. C'mon, tell auntie ceci what's wrong, you're depressing me. ' She offered up a small smile, her attempt at a joke most likely failing, she knew. Cecilia didn't exactly know what was going on at the moment, but she knew she didn't like it. He looked surprised even though she'd done this on multiple occasions, and like he didn't know what was going on. It worried her.
"You mean ‘grandma Ceci’,” he heard himself say. Cecil saw the consternation written on her face. Hopefully she would just ignore how he was behaving and drag him off the dinner, but he knew that was just wishful thinking. 'When will this be over?’ Cecil willed himself to act normal, but to no avail.
' You okay, man? ' She asked lightly, legitimately concerned for her friend right now. He seemed really off, not like his usual sarcastic self. Cecilia raised her eyebrows, going over to sit on his bed speaking in a slightly hushed tone. ' dinners ready--they sent me to tell you. Dude, you look like you just saw a damn ghost. '
Cecil looked at her. His thoughts scrambled. 'Does she know? Is she even really here?' He wanted to say, "No, I'm not. It's happening again," but those words were just in his mind. What came out instead was, "Y-yeah. Guess I just lost track of the time." He furrowed his brows, and tried his hardest to feel like himself again. Cecil tried his hardest, however, it all still felt like a dream.
The nurses had sent her—lunch was ready, and she guessed by their words he was in absence. She took her time to get to her friend’s room, standing at the door questionably when she heard noises. Yells—coming out of a computer game. She shook her head, rolling her eyes and knocking on his door lightly. ‘ Knock-knock, you geek. ‘ Cecilia didn’t exactly realize the look on his face as he looked at his fingers.
Cecil's eyes were fixated on his hands, his body. He hated this, this feeling, if it could even be called as such. The voices were still going, still shouting. He glanced up and saw their avatars scrabbling to defend their base, while he sat still, useless. One of his teammates just died. Then another. And another. They were being brutalized. A knock on the door tore his attention away from the screen. He heard Cecilia's familiar voice. It sounded hollow. 'You're just thinking things again,' he reminded himself. Cecil swivelled around to face her. "What's up?"

"Dude, what the fuck are you doing?! Are you even ther—" The voice echoed through to Cecil as he slowly removed his pristine black headset. The game was still going on on the screen. His hand was on the mouse, middle finger right-clicking to move his character away from danger. Though he barely escaped getting killed, Cecil felt nothing. No relief, no happiness. No comfort. Nothing. He tried typing 'srry brb', to feel the sleek keys of the board, but he only saw fingers—'My fingers,' he reminded himself—move. When his finger hit 'Enter', his apology was met with words of anger and relentless cries of outrage through the headset. He wasn't upset by them. He wanted it to happen. Wanted them to yell at him. But still, none of their words met him. Cecil read the messages, heard their words, but at the same time, he didn't. Not really. His body was like oversized armour and he the small, cowardly knight, sitting in silence.
’ Thats offensive, shithead. ‘
"How is it offensive, Lia?"
’ Would you rather be called shithead? ‘
"Yes, please. You can keep 'Ceci' for yourself."
’ I-it sounded funny, ceci. ‘
"What's up with all these nicknames people have for me?"
