Currently Listening: Matt McAndrew
As many of my friends and family can attest to, I was quite taken with this season of The Voice. I'm really not much of a competition TV show person, but in the midst of editing and needing new shows to watch (combined with all of the judges being enjoyable to watch and listen to this go-round), I became a big fan of the show. I can't say if the talent was much better than previous seasons since I hadn't watched a full one before, but I am a big fan of several of the artists that went through this time - primarily Matt McAndrew. He was in the top four, and I've listened to his single Wasted Love about a hundred times since they released it in the finale. If you're really interested, here's a small handful of some of my favorite performances throughout the season. Truthfully I could put about twenty of them on here, but I'll just go with five. Haha.

I don't have a lot to say on this one yet since I'm only about forty pages in, but I have a feeling once I read a couple more chapters, I won't be able to put it down.
Currently Watching: Mindy Project and Psych
Wow. Mindy Project is way better than I thought it would be. Kelly was one of my least favorite characters on The Office, so I had a feeling I would not take to the show if her character was similar in any way. Thankfully, I am loving this show, and it makes me laugh all the time. As for Psych, Zach and I are powering through it when he's home from work. I find myself saying "You know that's right" to him every so often. Thanks Gus. Lol.
Currently Learning: Lucid Dreaming
Alright, buckle up. The "dream" (pun intended) of being able to lucid dream has haunted me ever since I saw the movie Inception. A few Christmases back, my sister and I tried for the first time by following some method we found on the internet of laying perfectly still on our backs, closing our eyes, yet trying to stay awake as you feel each of your limbs fall asleep. Yes, that actually happens. If you lay still (and I mean, don't even twitch), your body will fall asleep before you do. When it happens for me, I notice that my hands no longer feel like they're in contact with the blanket/bed.
Also fun to note about that first try: We were laying on a pallet of blankets under a tent. And yes I was in college. Moving on.
Now up until a couple weeks ago, the farthest I'd gotten in this process was realizing I was dreaming in the midst of the dream, then immediately waking up. I gave up on it for awhile, but Zach and I have decided to give it a solid effort again.
Every source on the subject will tell you that you have to start keeping a dream journal. This is a struggle. There is almost nothing in the world that can possess me to lean over out of the warm covers, try to open my eyes, and write down all the very random stuff I dream about. To give you an example, this gem was this morning. (Apologies for the half-sleep handwriting)
Mm. Deep.
My dreams often involve the most random people plucked out of my past, or in some cases, Snooki. In that special dream with her, Snooki's dad was a drug addict who stole my cold medicine. Needless to say, these little visions through the night almost never feel worth it to write down, but it does make all the difference in recalling your dreams. Once I started jotting mine down, I went from many "dreamless" nights to remembering at least part of one every morning.
A week or so ago, I had some success. It was pretty awesome. I've had several dreams in the past where I'm trying to run but my legs suddenly become heavy as lead. Anyone else experience this?
That happened in this recent dream, and I thought to myself, "This makes no sense. What happened to my legs and their ability to propel me forward? Uh, I think I'm actually dreaming. OH MY GOSH STAY IN IT STAY IN IT." At which point I did, was able to run again, and did so up four flights of stairs. Mind you, I don't know if I can do that in real life. Ha. Ha ha. :-/
I had the thought to try to fly, and sort of floated down some stairs, which was trippy. Banner's little claws clicking across the wood floor ended up waking me, but that little moment of success has kept me going and writing down these bizarre, meaningless dreams. (Unless some interpreter stumbles across the one above and can indicate what the log ride of my life is.)
Separate from these categories, I'm also currently FREAKING OUT that it's 2015 tomorrow! What on earth happened to this year? Goodness gracious. Everyone's been posting some really meaningful stuff about the new year or reflecting on 2014, and I do have in mind to do some of that myself. But for now, I just wanted to squeeze in one more month's worth of current interests to remember in the future. :)
