"Parker cozied up to him razzed him a bit maybe. Arthur played dumb, apologized and asked to be left alone. Parker was too pushy for that."
PARKERR... PARKKEERRR.. AUAUAHGHGHG
One grievance I have with the newer seasons of malevolent expands on the idea that John is just a narrator now, and it’s that jarthur divorces don’t matter anymore. They don’t affect the plot anymore. John having control of Arthur’s body doesn’t matter anymore. Jarthur sharing a body literally forced them to cooperate and when they failed to cooperate, there were consequences. My grievance is that there are no consequences anymore.
I miss so bad in earlier seasons when jarthur divorces would literally dictate what happened in the show. I miss when John gave Arthur the silent treatment in part 9, I miss when half the reason they got captured in part 18 was because they were fighting. I miss when their disagreements impacted what happened in the story. I miss when they actually payed for their missteps instead of just moving on within five minutes.
Not just the divorces but also parts when John’s autonomy is relevant, because it gives us very important hints about his character. John quite literally single handedly drags Arthur’s unconscious body to the side of the road in part 4 to get him help, and sews Arthur’s wound, again, with one hand, in part 28. And in part 24 Arthur insists on shaking John’s hand because he simply misses his friend, and he misses John’s hand too even though that same hand caused him so much harm. It’s much bigger than just a handshake. All these scenes help the listener understand the lengths John would go to for Arthur and how much he adores him, his care for humanity.
