Yunho was quiet glad the holiday was over, sure it was always a nice little time with his kids as everyone being in happy spirts. He moved to finishes cleaning up the kitchen after his kids had their treats moving to let them watch cartoons and play with their toys. He went to go sit down and relax when he heard someone knocking at his door. He moved to answer the door only to be greeted by a person he hadn’t seen for what seemed like ages. “Mina is that you? it seems like forever since we last met. How have you been?,… Oh before I let you in I have two children just so you aren’t shocked” he said as he moved to allow the other in. “ The older one is Dennis and the Younger Misun, My sweet little angels.” He smiled sweetly knowing that one of his friends had return to him.

Mina was practically bouncing in excitement when Yunho opened the door. Her eyes widened and both dimples appeared as a huge smile spread across her face when he remembered her name. “Yes, Yunho it’s me. Well it has been a long time but all the family days piled up and well since I’m not family I had to wait.” She didn’t pause long before she started again, “I’ve been doing all kinds of things, well besides work that is. Seems the holidays are also a busy time of year for deaths.” she nodded with a serious expression before the excitement took over again, “I learned how to drive and have even been shopping for fun things! I got the best advice on the types of things to get. Oh yes, I remember you telling me about having kids. Before we go in though can you come out and see what I’ve brought? Parents always have to approve first I’ve been told.” Mina couldn’t wait to show him all the things that were in the overloaded van.

Present Surprise

This holiday season Mina had something to look forward to and didn’t hesitate to put her plan into action. There were several things she had to do before it would all be ready but she was sure that the end result would be wonderful. First was learning how to drive. She knew someone that had gotten all of the necessary paperwork for her and surprisingly enough she learned to drive quickly with minimal impacts to many stationary objects, she’d taken out quite a few traffic cones though.

Next was her favorite part, shopping for others! In the beginning they hadn’t been very nice to her but when she pulled out the little plastic credit card, they quickly changed and couldn’t help her enough. She had no idea how much more fun shopping for gifts was, than picking out items that she truly needed. Mina even placed custom orders and had items she’d only imagined created. She’d of course consulted with experts before making the purchases.

Finally the time had come, Mina drove up in a large van and parked out front. She was a bit nervous that perhaps she was doing something wrong. The family holidays were over and she had been invited to come chat another time. It would be rude to show up without gifts she continued to convince herself. Taking a deep breath she walked up to the door and knocked. She hoped that he hadn’t forgotten her because Mina really missed having someone to talk to that wasn’t part of her job.

Mina was digging into one of the containers paying close attention to the others. It’d been months since she spent any amount of time with anyone besides spirits. She never really was good at being social, her job made that extremely difficult and meeting living people wasn’t always easy. “Mina laughed, “I’m a bit older than you.” Her eyes brightened as she listened to him talk about his children. “What are they like? I’ve never really met any children,” her voice trailed off just a bit. “I mean I have met the ones that I have to escort but that’s it. Is it bad to say they’re my favorites?” She began to blush a bit realizing she was being rude and switched languages so that everyone could understand. At his question she set her food aside and her face turned expressionless although there was just a bit of loneliness in her eyes. “It’s not possible for me with work. It always interrupts and others die.”

He smiled at her as he laid the other two down on the couches that were there.” I actually am a pop idol in the group called TVXQ so sure I’d love to learn some more all i have is time right?” He said chuckling a bit. He nodded at her question” Yes i would like to know more about you Mina you’re different and I love to learn new things. Even if it takes the rest of ours days to learn about you. After all I will have to Thanks you for helping me save my family” He smiled at her before tucking his friends in so they would be comfortable and healing them.” Yes I’ll be right here okay? so when you come back we shall talk all night if you wish after all we need to stay here probably thru the night just to be on the safe side”

She watched him handle the others with care. A pop idol she didn’t remember ever meeting a live pop idol before, but being a vampire is he still alive? Maybe he’s different cause of the blue blood. She’d have to remember to ask that. “You really want to learn? I really love learning new things too.” Mina took on a nervous look at his mention of the rest of our days. “I’m not sure that I mentioned it but I don’t think I can die. At least I don’t know of a way so the rest of our days, you know that could be a really long time.” she blushed a bit at his thanks, “I really didn’t do anything and I’m happy to get food. I means I have someone to share it with. I’ll be back before you know it.” With that she rushed out and true to her word she didn’t take long to return with six giant bags loaded with all types of different food and a huge smile on her face. “I really wasn’t sure what to get so got a bit of everything.”

Mina looked at Yunho and from what little she really knew about vampires she wouldn’t even venture a guess at how hold he truly was. She listened closely as he spoke about the others and that really got her curiosity going. She plopped down with a container and began eating trying to think of the best question to start off with. Decisions were the worst when it came to which questions to ask. There were two that she couldn’t decide between so blurted them both out. “How old are you? What is it like to have family?” She knew that at one time she knew the answer to the second question but over the centuries those memories were long forgotten.

“It really did take a long time to learn how to use it. I also found out that when you learn that’s about the time they want you to get an upgrade so you have to start learning all over again.” she sighed heavily and shook her head but then her smile and dimples returned, “I’ve been wondering about you and it’s really great to see you too!” Mina nodded vigorously, “I’ve been doing the exact same things. Are you having an easy time of it? I tried going to a school and did pick up some things but they’re all different.”

One Dark Night

Mixing drinks and pleasing the guests was second nature to Daesung as he served as bartender in the evenings, the skills coming to him fluently as he performed them gracefully and on point. The Soji Bar never had a guest leave unhappy, whether sober or drunk, when they left after being served by Daesung. The man was a nightlife entertainer, so it was no surprise that he would be a great evening bartender. Daesung was kind and patient enough to listen to the people who came in sad and depressed, looking to drink away their sorrow. He was a magician when it came to mixing drinks and picking out the best ones depending on a person’a personality, and he was even better at handling the angry drunks that caused trouble. All in all, Kang Daesung was the best bartender a Bar or club could ask for, which is why he was paid better then any other.

However, tonight he was running a little slow and thank god his manager was there to see it. He was tired from the night before of entertaining at five clubs in one night stacked up on top of all the private jobs he had as well. Though, what made him more tired was the fact that one of his clients was a little rough with him an now here he was in pain and exhausted to do anything. His arms ached when he mixed the drinks, his listening skills where half assed and his smile was rare, but he still pushed himself enough to do is job correctly and the only thing that put his mind at ease was the fact that he had the night off to go home and sleep.

                    “I’ll take a double of the strongest drink you have.”

The voice pulled Daesung out of his thoughts as he was wiping down the bar counter, the night finally pulling in and bulks of people who had come together were finally starting to leave. He looked up to see a young girl staring at him, mustering up the best charming smile he could make before replying to her. “Sure, honey but I must warn you..this drink of mine will give you the worst hangover you ever had..” He chuckled as he tuned to make a drink he called the white dragon since it looked like milk in visual yet it was fiery and strong.

She wasn’t really sure of the appropriate response to that but got excited. Mina had never experienced a hangover before so although it would be the worst it would certainly be a first. Her smile turned genuine and twin dimples showed clearly, “Do you really think so? I’ve had strong drinks before but never a hangover. How many do you think it’ll take?” Her eyes followed his movements while mixed the drink. Pulling out her phone she did a quick search of what a hangover was. She began to wonder how long he had been doing this job. He appeared rather skilled.

“I don’t think there ever was a drink created that could ever give me a worse headache than my job.” She blushed a but realizing that she’d been rude yet again. It was one of her most common mistakes to get excited about something and forget to offer her name. “I’m Mina. Do you like your job? You surely must get to meet all kinds of different people.” After a bit more thought she added, “Oh, maybe it’s more like mine where you only get to meet them and not normally see them again. Do you get whole life stories without a bit of interest in you too?” Mina offered a bit of a sheepish crooked smile as she realized that last question kinda just slipped out. Plus she had only just arrived and he could be the type that hated questions.

Yunho smiled and listening to her.” You are so amazing Mina to speak so many different languages I can only a couple here and there because of my line of work.” he smiled walking to the safe house” That sounds so good i dont know if it’s just cause I’m super hungry and I know they could use their rest” He noticed the sudden change within her at his question watching her to see if he had hurt her feelings in any way.” I don’t think you’re odd Mina you’re just different there is nothing wrong with that. I will answer your question because we have a deal You get us food while we hide and i answer any question you may have. Plus i wanna get to know you as well if that is okay?” He smiled seeing the house just a up a little farther” Yes that work Mina and you can join us for a night evening how is that?”

“If you like I can teach you some other languages sometime! What type of work do you do?” Mina caught herself before she asked too many questions.  “Don’t worry I’ll bring back alot of food. All really good stuff to get back strength.” She smiled at Yunho the dimples appearing once more. “You want to know about me too?” her smile grew wider and the dimples deepened. “Yes that is really great. I will try not to bore you too much.” She laughed. Upon seeing the house she took out her phone and quickly placed the order. “Yes I’ll run over and get the food and I’ll be back.” Mina looked thoughtful for a moment before she asked, “Would it be ok if telling you about me took more than one time?” It really wasn’t often she got an offer to stay and chat with someone for an extended period of time. Typically that’s why she went to bars at times but that sometimes didn’t work out well for long due to having to yell over the music. Mina knew that she could take a long time explaining about herself and really hoped that this meeting didn’t end after just one encounter. Yunho was very interesting and she honestly wanted to learn more.

Woobin was wandering through the streets while smoking, reading on his phone while scrolling around as he was so focused on the screen he hadn’t seen the person he bumped into. He blinked and quickly bowed at her. “I’m so…” He looked at her, he couldn’t believe it. Was it her? “Mina?” The wyrm tilted his head, smiling widely before blowing out some smoke. “How are you doing? It’s been years!”

Mina laughed and pulled out her phone, “Look I have one too, and I know how to use it!” She wasn’t going to mention just how long it took her to learn about it and how to work it but was proud that she had one. “I’m doing ok, still working nearly all the time. How have you been? What have you been doing all this time. I’m sorry I lost track of you for so long.” She still couldn’t believe she ran into him this way and literally. She wasn’t normally so clumsy but it didn’t seem like a bad thing to her at the moment.

They i believe can eat anything. I would say food to get their strength back, they are going to need it. I can eat food but at times I require Blood” he smiles walking with her close” You do seem very curious about my kind and my family don’t you have someone you can ask all these questions too? like some older reaper?

Mina grinned wider at Yunho’s chuckle and began following along. “Oh, I can speak lots of languages. It’s part of my job, and it wouldn’t be a good thing to show up and not be able to communicate with a soul. For those that can’t speak anymore I’m pretty good at picking up meanings. Over 400 years on the job and haven’t had one I couldn’t find a way to communicate with yet.” She nodded when he mentioned food. “I know a great place they stay open all different hours for me and will make anything I want. I don’t see why they couldn’t make something good to get strength back. Probably lots of meat right? I’ll get extra portions just in case they’re really hungry and since you can eat too I’ll get some for you too.”

Mina bobbed her head in agreement when he mentioned her being curious but then the dimples and smile disappeared when he asked if she had someone else to ask questions to. She sighed with a wrinkled nose as she admitted, “Well most of them think I’m odd and centuries ago when I trained they didn’t really want to talk. For a while I tried asking the souls stuff but most of them were rather upset over their situations and not much help at all. I tried going to school for a while for special types like me and work got it in the way before I was there long enough to pick up alot. I did make a few friends but one of them that I talked to most just disappeared. I never heard from him again. I really won’t ask questions if you don’t want to answer.”

Mina really hoped that Yunho didn’t mind the questions but if he did she would certainly do her best not to ask. It really wasn’t everyday that she had an actual conversation with anyone lasting this long and didn’t want to ruin it. She pulled out her phone, “I’ll make the order at the restaurant and once I see where we’re going I’ll run ahead and get it. I mean if you think I should?”

Well healing them isn’t needed and i am hurt but i need help i guess getting them to the safe house not far from here” he moves to pick his two family members turning to look at her.” I would need some help maybe grabbing food and getting them tucked in for a good night sleep. Will you help me that way Mina?

Mina nodded in understanding about the under smells and beamed happily displaying her dimpled cheeks when Yunho said being different was always better. “Most people call me Me Na but guess sometimes I talk really fast so it comes out as Mina. I guess it all depends on accents too.” she said with a shrug and a smile. She was thankful that she got the greeting right and didn’t get a vision. She turned serious and nodded listening to the directions. “I will gladly help you with that. What do you think they’d like to eat? While they heal I can go get food and bring it. After they eat we can tuck them in. Do you eat regular food too? Don’t think I’ve ever asked another vampire if they do. Doesn’t seem like something that you’d do but maybe you’re different too?” Mina tried not to ask too many questions knowing that Yunho said he’d answer her questions later. Sometimes questions just made their way out without her really thinking about it.

Mina listened closely to Yunho and tilted her head. “I’ve never heard of under smells before. What is under the strawberries?” She sighed heavily and pouted at his next question. “I’m not grim at all. I suppose there are some reapers that might be grim, but I’ve heard so often that I’m odd. Do you think I’m supposed to be grim? I mean it really doesn’t sound like much fun at all. Taking all the souls to their afterlife isn’t really much fun, but sometimes you can get a really interesting one.” She smiled broadly and shook her head, “Nope no intentions of harming anyone. It does seem interesting but if I did it then I’d end up working after and it’s really not much fun at all. I’m not really sure who decides fates but it’s really not me.”

She moved a bit closer and peered around him, “Ohhh, yes I forgot I’m Mina. It’s just Mina though I know some people have more than one name but I’ve only had this one for as long as I can remember. It is wonderful to meet you Yunho.” She extended her hand as she’d seen several others do and added a polite bow. She watched Yunho for a reaction to see if she’d gotten the greeting correct. Next she tapped her chin and looked at Yunho, “If I help you take care of them who takes care of you? Aren’t you injured? Ooops I forgot take care of them first then questions. Ummm how do I help take care of them? I’ve never taken care of someone not already dead. It can’t be the same. I’ll definitely help though if you teach me.”

Yunho could sense her before she even stepped forth in the field. She smelled like death but in a different way. His eyes turned to scan the person before letting out a tiny growl telling her to keep her distance from his family.” You smell different explain why your presents is here. Also know if you make any move towards my Family i will not hesitate to end your life just because you are Female.” he stood up so he wasn’t in attack mode taking in the female before him. She didn’t seem like a threat to his little ones but that doesn’t mean he would let anyone near them at such a vulnerably time. 

Oh how exciting, oh wait, she thought quickly. I really shouldn’t be excited that someone growled at me. Mina paused a moment trying to think of an appropriate response but was saved when he started to speak. She sniffed herself wondering just what he smelled cause she thought the strawberry scented soap was still working. “I’m here... well I was here to collect those guys over there,” she gestures toward the direction the bodies are. “but they’re all taken care of so I got to come back and watch some more. Wait wait, I don’t harm anyone just come to, well sort of clean up afterwards. I dropped their souls off to their afterlives whatever those might be. Why would I want to harm anyone? Not part of my job at all to decide or help tip the scales on who lives or dies.” she smiled at him with a nod then turned thoughtful.

“Honestly I’m not sure if there is a way to kill me, but their might be. If there is I don’t know of it. See if I die then I can’t work and then the lost souls would begin to pile up waiting for someone to escort them to their afterlife. Your family?” Mina peered around Yunho and then gave him a confused look. “Does the different color blood mean that you’re a vampire that can have family? They don’t look like you really but I guess that doesn’t really prove anything. Do you need help at all?” Mina thought that she’d been rather rude not at least offering. Likely he wanted to get away from where the bodies were before anyone came to ask questions, well besides her. It really wasn’t like she was going to fight or arrest anyone.

Mina was wandering bored between jobs. Just seemed that people weren’t dying as quickly as they used to. Not that it was a particularly bad thing just made time go much slower for Mina. She was thinking as she was walking and bumped into someone. Bowing she uttered the customary sorry and stopped in her tracks. Was it? Could it really be him? How long had it been? A huge happy smile spread across her face as she started following him. “Woo Bin? it’s been forever have you been here long? Does your place need cleaning?”

Mina thought today would be a normal day like any other with nothing but work work work. She showed up at the scene and watched fascinated while one being took out several men. It appeared he was protecting two others, but why? What caused him to protect them so fiercely? The being moved extremely fast and seemed to feed on the ones he was quickly killing. Were they his family? Could that even be possible? Normally vampires, that she knew of, didn’t have family in the normal sense of the word. Another thing that caught Mina’s eye was the color of blood she caught a glimpse of, it was blue. Once all the souls were no longer in the bodies Mina made quick work of dropping them off and returned to follow the curious vampire.
