Happy Saturday night! Here is the bass part for The Exploding Boy by The Cure!
Part of Robert Smith’s bass line for Pictures Of You on my Squier reissue Bass VI and Ampeg Micro SVT 200 watt head and 1x15 cabinet.
Here is my Oscar Schmidt Spirit bass. I received this as a gift in 1990, when I was 14. It was my first bass. It hadn’t seen the light of day in over 20 years, but after making some beck adjustments it’s back up and running. The bass is very light weight. Here is a clip of Warhead by the UK Subs, one of the very first songs I learned playing after school every day in my parents basement.
A bit of the old gothic rock and a three year old video! Here’s Ambition by the Danse Society, unplugged on my Bass VI.
I finally put my upright back together! Here is some Lovecats by The Cure.
New Model Army - The Price. This song had a huge impact on me as a child, on how I saw music and also how I wanted to play. Slightly shortened version here. Cheers!
What about Pornography?
Don't even wanna start talking about Pornography...
One of my favourite bassists.
Messing about on the Bass VI eventually found me stumbling into The Smiths What Difference Does it Make.
Punk rock in the office for a casual Friday.
Arsenal.
Here’s in oldie but a goodie! Spanner Badge by the Electric Sex Circus, from what I believe to be there only ep (a three song 12 inch). Excellent early British post punk.
My workspace! Godzillas approve. That is an Ampeg 15 on the bottom run by the Ampeg micro SVT 200 watt head. Sadly it’s not powerful enough to run the GK Goldline cabinet, but it’s sounds great and is very loud!
#thecure Disintegration played on my circa 1980 ovation magnum iv bass, through my Ampeg micro SVT 200 and Ampeg 15 bass cab.
The Same Deep Water as You bass line with Robert’s Bass VI melody. Played on my circa 1980 Ovation Magnum IV bass through my Ampeg micro SVT 200 watt head and an Ampeg 15 cabinet.
Back in the day, Halloween closer to ten years ago! Me with my (circa 1999) Ernie Ball Stingray 5 onstage with Themes For Frances as a casual Michael Meyers.
Almost two years ago. Again Bass VI, not plugged in. The Jam’s English Rose. Always been one of my favourites.
