Emet-Selch's Choice
I was doing Seat of Sacrifice earlier today when the thought hit me.
When Emet-Selch steps in to help you against Elidibus, he knows everything that's about to happen.
Zodiark's defeat. The Final Days' return. Your journey to Elpis and warning him about the future.
He's given the chance to give the victory to Zodiark, to make what he wants come to pass. If he helps Elidibus, the last of the Unsundered doesn't fall. And if Elidibus doesn't fall, Fandaniel doesn't step out of line. Zenos doesn't get the help he needs to break Zodiark's chains. The rejoinings can continue, and Zodiark protects the Star against the Endsinger with an aetheric shield.
And yet...he chooses not to. Instead of placing his faith in Zodiark, the savior he's served for millennia, Emet-Selch places his faith in you.
To save the Star. To release his people to the Aetherial Sea. To honor your promise to remember the Ancients and live out Azem's legacy in a new future.
If that isn't trust, I don't know what is.
Some studios I made for public use. Enjoy!
I'm curious
I'll start one of these and see what happens.
Reblog this if you are over 35, play FFXIV, and are involved in the fan community in some way (screenshots/gpose, writing, fanfiction, posting FFXIV content).

Here we are again...
I’ve kept this tumblr active as a love letter to Oleandre, mostly for personal use. Now with what seems like impending implosion over at Twitter, I might revitalize this space. I think I will still keep this blog as a time capsule, and perhaps repurpose sideblogs for my current OCs. Who knows.
Ran some maps tonight for fun, money and mats. Thanks to everyone who turned out and grats on all the goodies!. @novasiri @auliander-ffxiv @oleandre-ffxiv @dearlyundead @yuwukimaru and a couple others who don’t have tumblrs.
This was so fun! Thank you for bringing me along!♥
Hi! I'm sorry if you've covered this before but I can't seem to find it! Could you give me some lore on WIldlings please?
@twilighttheunicorn, I don’t think I’ve ever posted anything up, but here’s what limited information there is on Wildlings.
Wildling Lore
A Wildling is a person taken by the Wood and enthralled by the elementals. This seemingly occurs only when a person awakens the Greenwrath by committing an act so dangerous or damnable that it forces a Great One to manifest to deal with the threat directly.
Note: Before I go into the lore quotes, I wanted to address something about Wildlings to those familiar with the 1.0 Gridanian MSQ, wherein a group of Gridanian quivermen pretended to be Wildlings to aid the Ala Mhigan Resistance in secret. It’s shown in other quests that wildlings do, in fact, exist. Ironically, a bit of quest text from a non-Echo’d segment of the 1.0 MSQ suggests that those same Gridanian quivermen who pretended to be Wildlings some 15 years ago now, did in fact become actual wildlings for their woodsin accumulated aiding the Resistance.
Ingram: “Yes, Brother Morys was indeed a wildling. Very few of the conjurers are privy to this. Those who do know have been forbidden to speak of it. Once claimed by the wood, one undergoes certain…changes. Wildlings have great potential to become powerful, powerful conjurers. If knowledge of this fact were to become widespread, we fear many would allow themselves to be turned out of lust for power. But once claimed, wildlings can seldom be retrieved from the wood. And that is why you, too, must protect this secret, Sounsyy. Believe me, I would not ordinarily have asked you to bear such a burden. If only I knew what the elementals were planning!”
Morose Merchant: “Impurity’s as bad as a curse, I tell ye. Gotta get all them dirty deeds off yer back, else the elementals’ll get ye. I didn’t believe it, neither—till some of me own mates were taken right before me eyes. Poor bastards.”
Amiable Adventurer: “You would do well to fear the Twelveswood—and live in awe of it. It is as integral to us Gridanians as the sun and the moons. She demands your due respect. Never attempt to oppose her, for she is alive and she never forgets.”
Shamani Lohmani: “It’s all that greenwrath talk what scares me. So much as look at an elemental funny, an’ the wood swallows you up, they say. Don’t kill you, but don’t leave you livin’ neither. Just lost in there - forever. I don’t mind gettin’ lost every now and then, but an eternity of it? Damned if I’m going anywhere near them bloody trees.”
Alaire: “To think that even the slightest errant step could incur the greenwrath… Be careful out there. I’d rather fight a hungry Ixal than an angry elemental any day! They say that if you waken an elemental’s fury, it banishes you to a hellish prison where time stands still. Don’t know if it’s true or not, but I’m in no hurry to find out.”
O-App-Pesi: “Where were we…? Ah, yes, of course. We were speaking of the elementals. They are a part of this world, great and powerful. And they do not oft trouble themselves with the inconsequential affairs of man. They do show themselves from time to time, though. When one beckoned by the wood arrives to hear their bidding, say, or should the greenwrath be wakened. Those who do not believe in the elementals had best stay clear of the Twelveswood, else it will claim them. It’s believed that the wood captures the souls of such sinners, damning them to an eternity as wildlings. And that’s why you’d do well to take part in the cleansing rites. To purge yourself of all that woodsin, and set you right as the rain.”
Nuala: “The greenwrath has been stirred by many and more lately, and not just adventurers. It’s said those who anger the elementals are claimed by the wood, damned to live out their days wandering its depths. We call those unfortunate souls “wildlings.” And pity them as we may, they are a danger.”
Zezekuta: “Your mask for the purification rite is nearly finished. Come, try it on to test the fit. Is there some problem? I assumed Fufucha had explained everything…The purification rite is a kind of, well…transference is what the conjurers call it. You see, dancing in the name of the elementals expunges woodsin by transferring it to the dancer’s mask and binding it there, magically. They say you were attacked by a treant, so I imagine you’ve got quite a bit of woodsin about you. That is why we’ve fashioned this mask for you.”
???: “If the woodsin upon a soul is too great, the power of the purification mask may collapse under the burden. But I do not think you are in any such danger.”
Zezekuta: “Brother E-Sumi has assured us that the mask in question was old, worn with age and use, its powers faded. And besides, one does not become a wildling without doing something to wake the greenwrath. Khrimm’s parents, Sigurdh and Oona, and Fye’s brother, Dunstan—they were among Gridania’s finest warriors. They all fought nobly against the Garleans occupying Ala Mhigo. A necessary evil, I suppose. Yet all that violence doubtless served to compound their woodsin.”
J’moldva: “Our masks allow us to avoid the gaze of the elementals. The magic within them hides far more than the flesh beneath. The forest is our mother - we hunt and harvest when and where she tells us, and we would give our lives to protect her. Still, culture and nature can never be in complete harmony. It is an unavoidable fact that some of what we do serves to anger the elementals. At such times, our masks spare us their greenwrath. Of course, I can’t well put such a powerful artifact in the hands of a newly recruited adventurer. Oh, don’t soil your britches. The elementals have consented to this culling. Dismissed, Wailer.”
???: “A wildling within the city… I fear we have all been placed in great danger. Brother E-Sumi will know what to do. He always does.”
Miounne: “Sounsyy, there is word of a commotion over at Stillglade Fane. Haven’t been to see for myself, but I’ve heard talk of wildlings. From childhood, we forestborn are taught that bringing woodsin into the city brings the greenwrath upon everyone in it. There is no greater danger in all the wood. Times like this, there’s naught for the commonfolk to do but trust that the conjurers and moogles will calm the wood.”
Zezekuta: “Fye and Khrimm were always close since before they could walk. He made every effort to help her forget the past and look forward. It’s to that end he insisted the elementals didn’t exist. And why he sought to burn down that tree. All for her sake, it was.
But surely even you have come to see the truth of it by now—the elementals are very real. His soul was soaked in woodsin, and woke the greenwrath. It was certain the boy would become a wildling himself, were something not done to save him…”
Pudgy Moogle: “And are you— Hey! You understand what I’m saying, kupo! Save a wildling? You mean one taken by the greenwrath, kupo? Taken and claimed? Cleansing a wildling is not easily done, kupo. The conjurers must perform their cleanses. Purges and cleanses, rituals and rites.”
Kan-E-Senna: “And Swethyna has informed me it was you who defeated the Empire’s vile new machine during our recent attempt to raise the Irmin Hedge. Allow me to thank you on behalf of all Gridania for your exemplary service. Despite your gallant efforts, the base minions of Garlemald continue to raze the forest and set fire to the trees. The shrieks and moans of the elementals haunt me day and night, heavy with anger and grief. Long days have I spent whispering to the great ones in an effort to calm them.
I have imparted the truth of what transpires, and in their benevolence they have forgiven us much of the greenwrath. So, too, have they consented to return to us those forestborn who were spirited away. In spite of these gains, however, it is with a heavy heart that I must belay the raising of the Irmin Hedge. The elementals have forgiven a great deal, yet it remains to be seen whether they shall forgive us this most recent calamity. Even should they do so, their anger will only return should we continue to wage this war in the wood.
Yet what recourse it left us, when Garleans prowl the forest even as we speak? To make matters worse, of those fortunate enough to escape the Irmin Hedge tragedy with their lives, many suffered so greatly that they have lost the will to fight.”
I hope this helps! ^^
