One More Time

I write this sitting in a corner of a large room, one I’m not yet willing to fully enter. It does not go deeper than this, I carefully checked that. All I can say is thank the heavens for that fact. The last floors have been brutal. Starting with a full population of 100 Pikmin, we are now reduced to 70. Luckily, some of each type remain, for I do not know what awaits me. As I stand in this quiet, foreboding room, the treasure locator is so loud it’s nearly dragging me to the center. The President’s usually enthusiastic demeanor has dimmed to an all-time low, but I must stand here as a man of gravitas, prepared to face the worst at the depths of this brutal planet. Oh Gods Louie, where are you? What have you become? Should I have even come back?

If this is the last journal entry of my life, I pray someone find my writings one day, and be able to save themselves from the wicked power on this planet.

The Endless Deep

I am here writing this in a place like no other on this planet. We have entered a cave, but it is not just any cave. This one has an atmosphere of dread, remorse, and suffering, one that I cannot fully wrap my head around but feel every bit of. Even the usually joyful president has seemed a bit down recently. The violence is no different, however. I still make my way with the army of Pikmin through the unrelenting creatures that want me dead. I am rushing now through this unsettling cave, and I hope that it will all be over soon. I cannot remain mentally stable on this planet for much longer, and keep up the killing. It needs to be put to an end. But this cave is the deepest yet, every time I think I’ve done everything there is more.

I have a feeling there will be something of significance at the bottom. Sometimes I forget why I am even here doing this, forget about Louie. Exploring this planet and controlling the Pikmin has become a painful process that is just muscle memory by now. I am desperate for a mental break, but can’t stop now. 

Time to delve deeper.
