Dissertation from my final year at Ravensbourne. @rv_grphcdsgn We were given the option to produce either a written or practice-based dissertation which showed our ability to research and express our thoughts and findings on our chosen subject. I chose to produce a visual dissertation in the form of a book, with an accompanying narrative of approximately 4,000 words. I wanted to explore and discover how much technology has changed graphic design and its designers, whilst also questioning our current educational interpretation of graphic design in relation to the multi-disciplinary knowledge required of today’s design student. I was influenced by my own practice and how, as a designer, I need to adapt and broaden my skillset through learning about new technologies whilst retaining a bedrock of traditional design values. The outcome of my dissertation is a book consisting of three chapters, which each have their own visual language. There is a digital copy of my book available on my website.
