Poor Judy, my avatar stole her boyfriend PJ away. :(
And now I think Bogo might try to steal Clawhauser from Bunsen... Though to be fair, that couple is seemingly a lot happier than PJ and Judy were, so it may not work if he does.
Clawhauser may love donuts more than anything, but Mii Clawhauser loves panettone more than anything!
Judy is now dating PJ, who was so single-mindedly interested in her that he stood up my avatar trying to confess.
PJ now has a crush on Judy.
Clawhauser and Chief Bogo became friends in Tomodachi Life.
The plan was to talk about Gazelle, which worked, which wasn't surprising.
What was surprising was that Chief Bogo told Clawhauser that he kind of looked like Gazelle, and I never really considered until just then how little they look like each other. A tall, skinny, female antelope and a short, fat, male cat.
But then I thought further and realized that they are both blond(e) and both have "natural eye makeup", so I guess, in a sense, they do look kinda similar.
Tomodachi Life Drama Updates
Updates on Zootopia drama in Tomodachi Life
So far, my Zootopia Miis are Clawhauser, Chief Bogo, and Judy.
Clawhauser is part of a friend group with my avatar and two of my other favorites, PJ and Soren. He has also started inviting Frank N Furter to befriend some of them. He doesn't know Chief Bogo or Judy well yet, but hopefully will soon.
He befriended Frank over a mutual love of buff men
Clawhauser is currently living with my avatar in a house called Cat People. I want PJ to join but no one has asked for that yet.
Clawhauser is the current biggest pallette house inspiration, inspiring a box of donuts and Gazelle shirt
Somehow, Clawhauser and PJ, two cinnamon rolls, are the only pair who have gotten into a full fight so far, and they almost lost their relationship from it. Thankfully, they did reconcile eventually.
Ike got a crush on Clawhauser (would make more sense the other way around tbh), but when he tried to ask him out, Clawhauser decided to go out with Bunsen, whom he barely knew instead.
Sidenote, Sally has been crushing on Bunsen for weeks, and still is, even though he's taken now
Chief Bogo went ice skating with Greek salad... and that was the first food I gave him
Judy hasn't done much yet
So, I like Zootopia 2 better than the first one, and a big part of the reason why is how the writers used character continuity as a source of conflict.
Like a lot of people, I’m generally not a fan of when the two characters who got together at the end of the first movie are broken up/fighting in the sequel, but Nick and Judy actually pull this trope off really well. Rather than manufacture drama like “they’ve gotten bored of each other” or “one of them did something the other didn’t like so they dumped them”, the writers further built on the characters’ already established habits and behaviors to further develop their story.
To demonstrate how the filmmakers did this, I first need to explain what my parents call the Inversion Game. My parents used to run marriage retreats (vacations specifically geared to help couples who may be having marital difficulties or just want to work on their relationship), and would use the Inversion Game to teach that the behaviors a person fell in love with are the same behaviors that drive that person crazy, and vice versa. For example, a spouse who says “I love how spontaneous my partner is, they make every day an adventure”, will also be a spouse that says “my partner is so erratic, they can’t commit to a plan”. Or a partner who says something like “my partner is always super focused on work, they never make time for me” will also find themselves saying “my spouse works so hard to support and provide for us”. The behavior doesn’t change, but the way the other person thinks about it does.
The writers of Zootopia 2 used this same trick to write Nick and Judy’s dynamic in the movie, and it’s genuinely great to see it.
As shown in the first movie, Judy was able to become a cop and stop Bellweather because she was able to block out all the naysayers and focus on what she had to do to achieve her goal. She didn’t listen to what other people said about her, and she got her dream job because of it. She ignored the people who didn’t respect her abilities, and she was able to prove them wrong.
In the second movie, Judy still doesn’t listen to what her critics have to say, which means she also doesn’t listen to Nick, her partner, who DOES respect her and wants her to succeed. She blocks out a dissenting voice, and it leads to someone she cares about feeling railroaded and undervalued in their relationship.
“She’s very assertive and doesn’t let other people tell her who she is or what she can do” is also “She’s pushy and doesn’t listen to anybody but herself”
In the first movie, Nick wasn’t interested in catching Bellweather, he just wanted to avoid going to prison or mauled by a jaguar. His priority was his own welfare and interests, which grew to include Judy as an individual. He prioritized safety, which saw him becoming close with Judy and working with her to help save others despite even his own efforts to hinder her.
In the second movie, Nick still doesn’t care about the case that much, but he DOES care about Judy and is willing to go along with whatever she’s doing to be close to her. His lack of investment in the case allows him to disengage when the situation becomes dangerously unhealthy, like when Judy would have drowned had he not given up pursuing Gary to get them out of the tunnel. He prioritized Judy’s life over catching the suspect, and it kept them both alive so they could actually solve the case.
“He’s selfish and doesn’t care about the big picture” is also “He wants the people he cares about to be safe and is able to pump the brakes when things get too intense.”
Their greatest strengths are also their greatest weaknesses, and their flaws are what allow them to succeed, and that’s some really great writing.
This is EXACTLY what I’ve been saying
Brilliantly put
I had a dream that Zootopia 3 was already out this month and that it was terrible.
Let us hope it is not rushed!
Nick: look, here’s our award for most rules broken.
Judy: that’s not an award. It’s an angry letter from Chief Bogo.
Nick, hanging it on his wall: well, it has the word “most” in it so i’m calling it an award!

Can't stop thinking about this Zootopia 2 scene

Judy, pointing to Nick: just look at that face! How can anyone spend all day alone with that face and not fall in love?
Chief Bogo: well for starters, at some point the face starts talking.
I watched Zootopia 2 over the weekend and I liked it, But it really upset me that they showed us so little of Clawhauser and Bogo. I LOVE BENJAMIN SO MUCH. Well, look what a kitten he is.

“Where is she?”
“She…she didn’t make it.”
Is actually so chilling. Everything Pawbert says to Nick is deeply terrifying.
“But with snake bites you…go fast. You’ll see.”
“She’s gone Nick, just get it over with.”
“You’re done. Know when to quit.”
And finally,
“Leave it! You’re gonna kill us both. It’s not worth dying for.”
The ONLY thing Nick does through this narration is fight. The ONLY words he says are “Where is she?” “JUDY!” and “Agree to disagree.” That is the entirety of everything Nick had to say to Pawbert. At no point does he try to converse, talk him out of anything, question, trick, bargain, rationalize, nothing. And all Pawbert knows Nick as is That Fox Whose Entire Reason For Living Is Judy Hopps.
It’s chilling because Pawbert knows that telling Nick that Judy is dead is going to destroy him, and he believes that it’s enough to let him cave and give into death entirely. He sincerely believes that Nick’s entire purpose for self-preservation is to keep Judy alive and if she’s gone, he might as well be, too. And he’s not even entirely wrong. Pawbert’s final plea, the complete 180° turn, “it’s not worth dying for,” isn’t “keeping her alive isn’t worth dying for,” it’s “YOU CANNOT SAVE HER, STOP FIGHTING, YOU HAVE NO REASON TO LIVE, SHE IS DEAD.”
But Nick saw her lifeless body. He heard she was dead and he SAW she was gone. And all he could think was, “If there’s even a fraction of a chance she’ll be okay, I can die knowing I did everything I possibly could to protect her.” The pure desperation in his eyes as he fights for that pen, not even sure if it’ll work, but fighting to do EVERYTHING he POSSIBLY can to save her. Even if he’s already SEEN that she’s dead. Which he has.
And then suddenly he’s looking her in the eyes and crying.
The slow-mo and pacing make it hard to grasp how fast it all happened, but he saw her, DEAD, and within sixty seconds he thought he was dead too, and then suddenly he was staring her in the eyes and panting. And all he could hear in his head was
“She didn’t make it.”
“She’s gone, Nick.”
“Know when to quit.”
But she’s right there. Alive.
“It’s not worth dying for.”
As a matter of fact, she is.
All my Clawhauser plushies!
