“Nope, I’ve just had enough time to order a drink and pull out my phone.”

“It is a little tucked away.” He agreed out of politeness, knowing that once you knew the place was here it was one of the easiest places to find in town. He recognised the woman as someone who moved here not too long back, a couple years maybe. “I have coffee, tea or…” He searched the cupboard in his little office, sticking his head out the door, “or hot chocolate.” 

“You know, I think I could definitely go for some hot chocolate.” Olivia smiled, following the mechanic to the room at a polite distance.

“Well that,” He agreed, “And I haven’t been here that long.” At home he definitely kept up a better fitness regime. Maybe it was due to the fact he was in a relationship and Christmas. He was getting lazy. “It definitely was. So much cheese.” He laughed. “You’ll be seeing me ‘round a lot more.” He laughed with her, “I’m Freddie by the way.”

“I’m kind of a newbie too.” She admitted. “Olivia.” She introduced herself, more at ease finally meeting someone who hadn’t lived in Mount Hope their entire lives and knew everyone already.

“Glad I can spend it with someone who’s understanding. I’m Roxy,” she introduced herself. “You’re in criminology, right?”

“No problem, I’m Olivia. And yeah, I am.” She smiled. She couldn’t believe that Roxy had remembered.

“Oh, no worries, I just got her like five minutes ago.”

“Well then you’re in the right place.” Jack got out from under the hood of his own truck and walked over to her car. “And lucky for you it’s been a slow day. So I’ll probably be done in a few… You want a hot drink while you wait?” 

“Oh good. I’ve only been driving around for an hour trying to find this place.” She admitted, smiling slightly. “Well, what kind of hot drinks are we talking here?”

“Maybe things’ll get better this year.” Olivia offered. “But for now, I say we grab some more drinks and ring in the new year properly.”

“Naturally no, I’m probably more of a foodie, but, lately I have been… well until Christmas hits.” Freddie laughed. 

“That would explain why I’ve never seen you around the gym.” She laughed. “Well, I hope it was worth it.” She commented sincerely.

“Oh- Yes. I’m here for an oil change.”

He gave the other man a harsh look before looking over at Olivia. “I’m doing all right. How about you sweetheart, Keepin’ busy?” 

“You know it.” Olivia nodded, taking a seat next to Felix. “Sweetheart? That’s new.”

“Sounds good. Well, what brings you to Pub Fiction tonight?”

“Nope, he was just leaving.” Olivia spoke confidently certain that if the creep put another hand on her she would be able to take him down. However, with Felix around, maybe the creep would just back off. “How are you doing?”

Well, on behalf of my faculty I apologize for any awkward stilted conversations, or inappropriate social behaviour. I don’t expect coffee. It would be amazing if there was coffee, but it wouldn’t change my opinion of you if there wasn’t. Kind of like me? I’ve been an superb neighbour for the past year, you have to more than just kind of like me. 

I will accept that apology then. Fine. Maybe a little more than kind of.  My dad just sent me a new Tassimo with a metric fuckton of different pods or whatever they’re called... Anyway, want to come in and try some out?

“I will re-schedule my healthy eating for January 1st.” Freddie laughed, pushing his coffee away slightly. “And I will begrudgingly start going to the gym again.” He pouted.

“That sounds brutal.” Olivia laughed, taking a quick sip of her coffee. “Not much of a gym guy, huh?”
