is that song actually character-coded or is your brain a character-shaped hammer looking for lyrics to nail down somewhere

Why are all music teachers like this 😭😭😭
THEY ARE
when i was 8 i had a very intimidating russian woman as a music teacher- she was both my opera instructor and piano teacher. about a month into piano, she sat me down and said to my mother and i "this child- very beautiful voice, good for singing. i will not allow this child to continue piano. god did not want this child to play an instrument. he told me this in dreams. that is all."
my mom had it written down on a slip so we could remember the exact words because it was so funny. i HATED playing piano and i was definitely not good at it (i did end up having a good 5 years of opera training and ended up being a pretty accomplished choir singer though) and the idea of god sending my incredibly severe and serious russian piano teacher a dream begging her to stop teaching me piano was probably the funniest way it could have gone.
I think about this all the time
woke up missing the hot boi :/
I fear so many books being published these days are like Check out this woman. she’s grieving. follow her family through generations and they’re all grieving. it’s Italy in 1783. she’s fighting with her sister. turns out that’s about grief too. now she’s learning and growing and becoming even more contemporary and morose. she’s got a bad relationship with her mom, who is also grieving but about some other shit. the cover of this book is the coolest thing about it. five awards you’ve never heard of. it’s 200 pages and $40

the clock app always picks the numbers for you but in calculator the numbers can be anything you want
“your friend is dead, and their corpse is inhabited by something only you can see for what it truly is" is already good horror. but "you begin to love the thing that wears their face"? the blasphemy of it. terror turning into desire. grief turning into longing. being enticed by what should repel you. it twists the knife deeper, because the horror is not based on deception anymore. the fear comes from recognizing the monster in its raw form and finding beauty there. you're not clinging to scraps of your friend, you're surrendering to something other, something wrong, and loving it. you're not holding onto a ghost of the past, it’s the monster itself that you choose
