Love is supposed to be patient
Love is supposed to be kind
Not a battle or furry that lashes out
like the crackles and flames of a fire
You should take care of her
The way one waters the plants in the morning
You don’t keep her
Don’t wait as her leaves grow dim
Watch as her roots dissolve
Making her think she needs you to survive
Show her how to be her own light
How to grow as big as the sun
Make her safe
A lover should never be forced to fight among weeds
Frantic just trying to not be chocked out and overcome
Don’t forget her
Repotting doesn’t make the ivy an orchid
