“Asking questions helps with the whole good student thing. In all my years of teaching I find not asking anything to be the downfall of a student…Unfortunate, you seem to be the type of student I would want in my class; the type that asks questions and tries to excel. I teach political science.”

She nodded softly, agreeing with the professor, “Sometimes I feel as if I might ask too many. I just like to be sure of myself,” she explained. A small blush appeared on her cheeks, it was common for her, she wasn’t good at taking compliments, “Thank you, I don’t think Political Science is really my cup of tea but I’m always up for learning new things. If you need someone to bounce ideas around with I’m always available for a stimulating conversation.”

“I’m studying!” she called out to the blonde, “Something you should consider doing once in a while. Aren’t you afraid of failing your classes?” she questioned, it was crazy to her how some of the other students didn’t care too much about their studies.

“I suppose you can learn how to navigate the internet. Maybe there’s some good use to it. I just haven’t found it….Yes, that’s generally how it goes. Is there a problem with that? Are you behind?” He asked, really not sure, if she was taking one of his courses. He normally never put a face to a paper–it was to refrain from favoritism. “Are you in my class?”

“It should be used for resources, the same can be said about encyclopedias and history books. Although sometimes, those can be biased, but then again isn’t all of history biased?” She straightened her back, “Oh no, no problem with it at all, I just wanted a general idea of what a professor would see as failure or a good student,” she rambled on. “I-I don’t think I’m in your class.”

Malakai immediately noticed the young girl approaching him. Perhaps it was his keen sense of smell and heightened abilities to know when someone was coming–whatever the case may be, she was here, and asking him a question. He raised a paper in the air and gestured towards the zero mark in the corner. “When you plagiarize and believe you could get away with it.” He lowered the paper and placed it next to him. “In my class anything below a C means try harder.”

Her brown eyes locked immediately on the paper he lifted, her face falling at the sight of the red mark in the corner, “Oh..that makes sense. Plagiarizing isn’t the best way to get through school, you’re not learning anything by copying someone else.” The young witch pondered for a moment, “So a B and up is a grade that sits well?” She was nervous about not being able to keep up with her academics, and although she’d try her best to get an A in all her classes, knowing a B wouldn’t be too bad either, helped calm her nerves a bit.

Usually the fae spent her time in the staff room, makes sense to learn about others as much as she could while also being open towards them. As open as a fae could with such secrets and past after all. For today though, Caterina decided to spend the free afternoon she had in her own office in the Fine Arts Building; away from most eyes unless it was a random student loitering or those of the Fine Arts classes who had questions.  “What a delightfully wonderful afternoon.” she mused, a start of a smile gracing her lips, with a quick look at the open doorway and sensing no student in the immediate vicinity, Caterina removed the thick bun on her hair and let her tresses fall down. It was slightly narcissistic but she enjoyed how her golden hair looked, she took this chance to separate it into three equal sets - she was at her third braid when a knock sounded at her door. “Door’s open darling, come in- come in.” she smiled, letting her hands fall down as her hair untangled themselves from the braid. “You must be the freshman, Ms. Rivera, what can I do for you?” Caterina proceeded to wave her hand forward, motioning the girl to come in and sit in any of the chairs in her office.

Olivia had been roaming around for the most part, thus far, things seemed nice, but her thoughts continued to revolve around her classes, specifically her major. Fine Arts was something she always enjoyed, and coming from a family who was big on her knowing everything there was to know about witches, it took a lot of convincing for the young woman to choose it as a major. 

It was always polite to introduce yourself to your professors, at least it was in Olivia’s opinion. She wanted to make a good first impression, and secure a possible connection for the future. Stopping at the professor’s door, she lifted her hand to knock softly, before their eyes met and she was told to enter. “Yes, that’s me. It’s a pleasure to meet you Professor, I thought I should stop by and introduce myself, and perhaps offer you a welcome gift,” she stated as she handed the older woman a small framed canvas of one of her favorite art pieces.

Malakai had been grading paperwork, filling out paperwork, and just overall being consumed by the array of papers surrounding him. He would briefly stare outside and admirer the outside world–his hues blinking away from the sunlight that was trying to seep through. He reached for his cup of coffee and decided against adding some whiskey. 

Olivia had been pacing back and forth, her mind racing with thoughts about her schoolwork. Education was always important to her family, and she had an obsession with being the best she could be. The young witch stopped for a moment before peeking in through the opening and seeing an unfamiliar man surrounded by papers. “What would you say is a failing grade?” she asked, out of the blue.

hunter-or-slayer:

Drake’s mind had been miles away, if he were honest. With thoughts of the dark coven still lingering, and with the possibility of the fae appearing lumping on top of it, the hunter didn’t feel right without some kind of weapon to defend himself or the people at the festival.

He’d been so lost in his thoughts, he hadn’t realized he’d crushed the beignet in his hand, and noticed he’d caught someone’s attention. “Oh, damn, looks like my body hates carbs so much it won’t let me eat ‘em” he said, letting out a somewhat forced chuckle.

Olivia had been making her way through the festival, it was a nice way to welcome the new season and new students and faculty. She was excited to get to know people and start classes, although she’d be lying to herself if she said she wasn’t a bit nervous. 

The young witch stopped in her tracks when she saw the man crush the beignet in his hands. Blinking quickly she pulled the one she had in her hands closer to her, “As long as you don’t crush mine we’ll be okay,” she said with a smile before offering him a spare napkin.
