Loyalties | Mags & Caterina | Past
snowhcven:
In between the reoccurring lapses of consciousness, Mags silently vowed to make the rogues pay a punishment so cruel and so foul that the Seelie Courts would weep. Months, years, centuries after. And with each tear she would feel more refreshed in her dealing of justice. Whenever she felt a calloused hand at her ankles or her arms to move her, the redheaded fae imagined ripping said limb from their bodies. A muffled growl left her lips - so uncharacteristic of the lady. They made a point to belly laugh and say as much. Their tongues would be cut clean from their disease-ridden mouths. She made a note to add that too onto her list of tortures. Despite her strong thoughts, the fae felt immobilized. Vulnerable. Helpless. It was a feeling she had never felt in her entire life; one she learned, rather quickly, she did not care for. Knowing panic and defeat were never an emotion the Snowhaven were meant to show, she pushed this down deep inside of her soul. The part of it she never visited. Nor a part most knew she owned.
By the time help had seemed to arrive, the unseelie fae was lying limp across the floor of the caravan. Sounds made their way to her ears, but her eyes could not stay open long enough to recognize her surroundings. She must have looked so pitiful. A slender woman of pale, snow skin, lying in a mess of her long, copper red hair. So small compared to the usual bold lady of the Winter Court. Mayhaps it was best her help put her out of her misery, and save her the shame of returning a failure. Though it took but her last name whispered to remind her who she was. And that was not someone who quit. A sound between a sigh and a groan escaped her, but she forced herself to nod - just barely. Enough to give her company the go ahead. Frankly, it didn’t matter who the other was right now. All that mattered to Mags was being freed of the iron bounds.
But the younger fae did peek. A glimpse of blonde hair, eyes appearing to her like the cold trickling streams of the forest, and height that far surpassed her own. Familiarly played at the corners of her mind, but in her haze from the iron, Mags could not truly tell. Here to help you. Yes, it was about time. She tried not to stir but as the other woman pried the iron bindings away, the Snowhaven woman felt a flicker of intense burning and jolted, sucking in a harsh breath. it was as if the material itself clung to her, willing to never separate. Yet it did. Thank the heavens, it did. Her icy blue eyes revealed themselves properly to her heroine, taking only a moment now to lock onto the face staring back at her. Though the fellow fae focused on slipping a ring onto one of the her fingers shortly after. “Is this your way of proposing to me?” The tease fell so gracefully from her lips, ones gently curled at their corners in spite of everything that had happened to her in the past sum of hours. Her eyes hid themselves once again and her body struggled to sit up. Exhausted. She was so exhausted.
Already she could feel her strength returning to her, but it would be nowhere near the necessary to run from the scene. Because of this, Mags realized with frustration that she would have to lean her weight onto the other fae. It would wound her pride a third time. How many times thereafter would it take for her luck to flip? The redhead reached for the blonde’s arm, fingers wrapping delicately around the skin. With the support, she pushed herself to her feet - though it had taken a near stumble to realize she was fantastically hopeless. “I hear rushing water.” Mags lifted her head weakly as if she was being summoned, insisting with a firmness in her tone, “There must be a river nearby.” Anything to cover their tracks and lead them, hopefully, to a clearing where they could recover. Rather, she could recover. Since the other fae did not appear to be harmed in her rescuing of the lady. How very classic, Mags thought in passing. It was like something out of a novel - the kind of ones she secretly enjoyed.
“I ca-” the Winter Court woman began to say, stopping short at the idea of admitting this aloud. Shaking her head in blatant annoyance, Mags blinked her eyes to stay awake, “I don’t believe I can walk on my own.” Her legs felt like they were still being weighed down by the iron, but the effects had lessened to the point of being able to take steps. Slow and steady would win the race, would it not? Perhaps not if the Seelie Guard happened across this scene. Who then would they blame? The ‘innocent’ Seelie ‘bystanders’ or a Lady of the Winter Court and her quite capable ally? An ally who she now recognized. Another loyal Unseelie like herself, though they had only seen one another in passing. Nothing concrete. “Mags,” she offered eventually in favor, “Call me Mags… And you are?”
Well despite the shouts of pain, Caterina knew that it was no doubt a necessity. She never had to save someone before, not at this level, most of the times she was the reason why guards were needed to be placed - similarly how she never had to show her face to her targets. But seeing as the redhead was still young and in so much pain - and she wanted to build the initial trust needed for her to follow, the blonde was left with no choice but to give her name and show her face. The blonde could see how weak the other was, exhausted, struggling, tired and Caterina felt no pity, just a pang of anger for what reason there was to this. Despite the fact that there had been a lingering want and guilt in Caterina's heart to have changed her allegiances there was no doubt in her that what she did - saving another- was a point directed to being a Seelie, there was a part of her that believed that if she stayed loyal to her roots she might have just played her targets after all.
Caterina couldn't help but give a laugh, for despite the pain the other seemed to be they were still able to give a tease that deserved praise. Caterina's eyes moved to the other's as she spoke - alertness halfway gone as she moved her gaze towards the Snowhaven's curled lips - a tease, one that she was used to having - and doing that Caterina herself placed her face so very near the other's, her tongue darting out to wet her lips as she met the redhead's teasing with her own. "Only if you really want me to." Oh there was no doubt Caterina would pin the Snowhaven down, only if they were of perfect health, and only if they were safe after all. That teasing smile was delicious and she would oh so readily devour it.
Water? Water sounded safe, and good - there would be pockets of land nearby and most importantly foliage or anything that could hide them."Lead the-" Caterina was about to say but she was cut-off just as the other fae seemed to struggle with her words. "Then isn't that why I'm here... Mags? The gallant hero that would see you safe from here to there-" she let her voice drip with soothing tone one, a voice that naturally charmed so many others - even those not of her own home court. Caterina let the other move themselves comfortably so that they may be able to move, her own arms ready to stabilize, comfort, ease any tension that there was. "Caterina, my lady. Caterina Forsyth, do not worry about needing assistance, use me as you wish-- within my capacity of course." the blonde even went so far as to give a gallant bow. A smile once again graced her features - a smile meant to dazzle and open other people up easier, this time though she meant it. The redhead was beautiful, a beauty only the Winter Court could ever produce. Surely Caterina has seen the beauty in all sides of the fae and their courts but the Winter was still the head of the Unseelie, a pang of home and roots and supposed loyalty, Magnolia Snowhaven's beauty was a testament to that. The fae headed towards where the water was awaiting to set up anything, a makeshift camp, recuperation, anything that could make the travel back to the Winter Court lands less tedious. “Is this the right place?” she asked as she saw a flowing river. Caterina was ready to settle as she propped her back against a tree and massaged her shoulders. “We should rest, I would invite you back to the Summer Court to rest properly but... that might not interest you?” The journey to the Winter Court was possible but definitely not as easy, there was also the fact that the other was still injured.
