Prologue

It started when you were separated with Wash, Sarge, Donut and Lopez at the federal army base in the mountains. You had been injured badly during the initial battle and dr grey had been overseeing your recovery. When the alarms go off one day, your in the med bay and Wash or Sarge orders you to stay put. The other reds and blues reunite and then all hell brakes loose as the mercenaries start killing people in mass. You stuck close to Dr. Grey and somehow survived. Your hit it terror and relief when you see everyone together, held at gunpoint by Félix and locus and several soldiers in black armor. You almost run over there and then, desperate to do something. Grey stops you, silently signaling to wait, so you do. When Carolina reveals herself, and it's time to run, you aren’t fast enough. Your stumble back wards, barely miss getting shot. Locus orders to keep you alive. Better use as a bargaining Chip.

You are a hostage for days and Felix absolutely plays mind games with the reds and blues about it. In the end Charon still offers almost the same ultimatum. Except now it's, take the ship to leave and you will be returned alive, and if they try and stop the genocide you’ll be killed.

Maybe the reds abs blues decided to split up with some of them going to the ship to try and get you back alive. Maybe Tucker came up with the same plan and they go through with that. Either way they know that you would want them to stop the genocide at all cost, even your own life.

When the times comes, Felix and Locus leave a single unimportant guard. Someone they did not need in the capital or helping guard the radio tower. Maybe someone injured who just had to wait for a radio call to execute an unarmed and tied up prisoner. However it happens you are able to break yourself out of bondage, steal the armor off your dead guard, grab a future cube, and teleport yourself to reunite the reds and blues at the radio tower.

Blue Team

Epsilon (Church)

When you get taken he was really beating himself up about it. He should have accounted for you showing up with Grey. He should have told Carolina to wait. He should have done it differently to prevent you from ever getting taken.

The entire time your gone Delta keeps running the odds that you survive. Theta keeps posing these what if's: what if you talks the guard into letting you go, what if you snuck in a knife? what if you were never captured and the Mercs are just bluffing. You're going to be ok? right?

Epsilon hates it when Delta runs the likelihood that you're currently being tortured. It's hard to ignore Omega when this happens.

When you are finally reunited he almost can't believe it. Afterward a the Capitol, he want to be around you, ask you everything but knows better than to bombard you with questions. He may even choose to transfer to your Ai implant/ Armor for a while, just to "make sure you don't do anything else stupid"

Caboose

It takes him a while to notice your missing, and when he does his first thoughts are about how he misses you are are sad that you're not here right now.

He knows you're in trouble and need help and he is wiling to do anything to help get you back.

He is also one of the first ones to speak up on the fact that you would want everyone to. try and help the people of Chorus and not yourself because you are not selfish.

When you return he covers you in a bear hug and refuses to put you down for several minutes. He will absolutely insist on having a sleep over and will stroke your head if you cry and are sad when you get back.

Tucker

Is a HOT MESS when that the teleported lands and he notices that that you didn't make it and got left behind. He just spent all this time trying to get back to you and now your gone again. Its fucking Bullshit.

He is yelling at everyone. At Carolina for not waiting longer. At Church "Maybe if you had been around this would'nt have happened". At Wash or Sarge or whoever told you to wait behind in the med bay.

He feels guilty and personally responsible for you being captured. Every minute that he is going to help you, weighs on him.

When you reunite, you're over his body after he was stabbed by Felix. He doesn't how you got here and he doesn't care he is just so fucking happy to see you. He sees you're crying and worried about him and he is trying to make you feel better. He's literally laying there, grimacing in pain, cracking jokes.

Later when things settle down and he heals a bit, he will cry about almost having lost you and the "we both almost just died sex" will be wild.

Red Team

Sarge

Is in complete denial about the possibility you probably wont make it back. Refuses to entertain the conversation and shuts it down.

Has complete confidence in your ability to survive and make it back.

He focuses on what he thinks his Duty is and goes all in. He like Caboose would want to honor the fact that you would not want them to trade your life for an entire planets.

He is definitely proposing convoluted rescue plans that somehow integrate stopping the genocide and saving you.

When you do come back he is surprisingly emotional about it. Probably cries and you get a rare hug in front of everyone.

Simmons

poor Simmons was so desperate to see you again. He was an anxious mess the entire time you were separated with the feds. The fact that you are now with the Mercs is awful.

He can't stop thinking about how your probably already as good as dead. He is thinking about the last time you interacted. He didn't say "I love you". Even if he's told you before, How can things ever be okay if you die and he never gets the change to tell you the last time he saw you.

As much as he cares about you, he practical and knows that it’s unlikely you’ll be coming back. He clings to hope anyway.

He is one first to say that we have to try snd rescue you even if it seems hopeless.

When you reunite, He is so anxious about how you're doing. He tries to make space for you to be able to talk about what happened if you want. He is very understanding if you don't and maybe tries a little too hard to be there for you perfectly. When you do finally talk he is sensitive, accepting, and patient.

Grif

One of the few times Grif just completely looses his cool. At first its Panic, Yelling where are you? He just saw you. This cant be happening.

Then he is going to figure out whose fault it is, and it is someones fault. He is going to then tell them all the ways its their fault. Wash or Sarge doctor Grey, Carolina.

He is going to try and rescue you. Fuck Chorus, fuck what you would have wanted. If you are his person there is nothing he wont do to get you back. He is super pissed at anyone who suggests doing anything other than trying to come help you.

When you finally reunite, he is glued to your side for weeks.

He doesn't ask what happened, and he listens.

Donut

He is crying when he realizes that you got left behind. He holds tight to optimism that you are going to be okay and its all going to be ok.

He just feels his way openly and freely through his grief, anger, despair until he just accepts that it hurts right now, he misses you and he is worried.

He cares about your values and what you would have wanted and he also values not having a genocide. Donut would probably be born between values here, and would likely suggest the team splits up where some try and rescue you and others stop the genocide.

When you reunite, he is very sensitive to how your feeling and lets you take the lead to get support however you need. Talking, cuddles, sex, whatever, he is there.

Carolina

Carolina is absolutely vicious to herself when she realizes that you got left behind. She completely blames herself for throwing the teleportation cube too soon. She is so Angry with herself about it "GOD DAMNIT"

Her injury to her leg only makes her more pissed, but part of her is glad for the pain because it distracts her from what shes feeling: self loathing, grief, fear, loneliness, rage.

She slips into practical mission mode like a pro. She knows your probably dead and the chances of you making it out alive are basically none. She tells herself you would focus on the mission and she will too.

When your reunited, she can’t believe it. After losing York the way she did, and the rest of the freelancers, everything in her was ready for loss.

She is dragging you somewhere secluded ad soon as she can. It’s absolutely filthy or mad intimate : She just places her hands on your cheeks and rests her forehead against yours. She promises never to let anything happen to you ever again.

Shes not a big talk out her feelings person, but at least the first night she will absolutely show up for you here if you ask. You’ll have to be the one to lead in the feelings department. Her feelings about what happened or your.

She is kinda the type who wants to pretend everything is fine like the next day or the day after. shes shooting death looks at anyone who even mentions locus or felix, let alone what happened. She tired too hard to be a rock for you.

Washington

If Wash is the one who ordered you to stay in the med bay, this decision haunts him. He feels responsible for you being left behind because of the call me made. You trusted him. He feels like he let you down and everyone else.

The moment the Mercs show up at the stupid snow base his anxiety is spiking and he is radioing you to meet up with them. When he sees you got left behind, he is crushed and in so much grief.

Wash knows enough not to hope, that the odds are that your gone for good and that he will never see you again. He will think about your last interactions with him on loop and all the times he almost told you how much you meant to him. All the times he held back because something else was more important.

Regardless part of him clings to the idea that you aren't gone yet and he kind of hold onto like a Schrodinger's cat type situation, you aren't dead or gone until he sees it.

Wash is all about duty, while loyalty is huge for him and his identity as a solider are in conflict here. As much as he wants to come save you he knows his duty is to stop a genocide. He also know it's want you would want and that matters to him. He feels terrible guilt about every choice he could possibly make.

When you are reunited, you rolling him over and looking down at his face terrified that Locus almost killed him. He thinks that he is dead, and that this is the afterlife and you were waiting for him. Its all very melodramatic

The night back at the capitol, he comes to your room and hugs you for a long time and cries. He tries not too but it just kind of spills over. He kisses you like you're giving him air, and probably inanities most intimate hand holding loving desperate sex.

Sleep headcanons: Agent Washington

Insomnia

Insomnia is probably the part that bothers him the most. Wash doesn't has a hard time falling asleep in general, unless he is feeling particularly wired or hypervigilant. It's the nightmare that wake him up and the bedwetting that sometimes follows. It's not unusual for him to wake up screaming or gasping and drenched in a cold sweat. Often he physically can't get back to sleep because he is so elevated and sometimes he is just to scared to. The dreams often leave bitter flashbacks as he lays awake and by the time the morning comes he has forgotten most of them.

Hesitant to fall sleep with S/O, partner,

He feels bad about potentially disturbing their sleep and is mortified by the prospect of wetting the bed while they are with him. As a result it takes was a really really long time to actually fall asleep with whoever he is sharing a bed with . At first he might come over to their bunk or bed but will lay awake the entire night. As a result he also won't spend consecutive nights with them so he has a chance to catch up on sleep. If asked he'll say that he "just can't sleep" and it's "normal for him" or he'll say he "doesn't want you to have to wake up to someone screaming". Fitful Sleeper

When he is first falling asleep sometimes his body with suddenly go tense, and his hands will grip or clench the sheets or whoever he is holding. Other-times his legs will kick out as if to catch him from falling. He was completely unaware this happens and if you're the one sleeping with him, you may be in for a rude awakening. It only takes one time for him to insist on being the little spoon moving forward. Which is no big sacrifse for him since he prefers being held anyway .

This really deserves its own post. In summary he wet the bed as a kid, and at the time felt out of control and helpless l. When it comes to expressing love Simmons is devoted with his time, attention and actions

Acts of Service The primary way Simmons shows he cares about anyone is through his actions. He has a deep rooted drive to please the people he cares about, and primarily attempts to do so by meeting their needs, whatever they may be. For people he craves affection from like Sarge, it shows up in his willingness to do everything asked of him and to seek out more he can do. This is just the surface, when he deeply cares about someone that instinct to please is enhanced. So when he find himself falling for you, he kicks up into overdrive. He pays really close attention to your interest and your routines. if you mention you like a certain genera of music, the next time to talk he tries to causally bring up your favorite band like he didn't spend 4 hours looking it up the night before. He's folding the closes you forgot in the dryer and lets you know he folded them to better match your organizational style. (it was an improvement on what you were doing before). You mention you needed more ammo and he brings extra just for you. When you are first together, It can be a little overbearing but after a little reassurance that your love isn't conditional on him doing things, he calms down a bit.

Quality time - The next way Simmons shows his love is through spending time together. His ideal is being able to find a place where his interest overlap with yours and you can spend time doing an activity together. When he really is invested in someone he will go out of his way to try and find those overlapping areas. 1.Quality time

The first was Wash expresses love is with quality time. He doesn’t particularly feel the need to socialize with anyone he doesn’t want to, so he is going out of his way to talk with you, he probably likes you to some degree. When he really likes someone he’s planning to try to find ways to spend time around you. He is staying up hoping you’ll come sit by him at night. He’s is lining up his routine to run into you alone during the day. He definitely more of the pining type where he’ll create these opportunities for connecting but will rarely initiate them himself.

The first way this shows up is him trying to help you with stuff. He’s offering to show you how to fix the sticky trigger on your gun. He’s offering you pointers when training. During the battle in crash cite bravo you takes a bullet for wash and he is very upset with you when you come round.

You had always thought fighting with the reds was chaotic, but you have never really seen a real battle. The never ending stream of soldiers, the bullets coming out of nowhere, and everyone yelling what to do? It was too much. It was like sensory overload turned up to the point you can’t think straight, except your also trying not to get killed.

The concussion you got got a week ago wasn’t helping. When freckles blew up Sarge’s jeep the bumper of the car flew off and hit you. Wash had originally told you to stay in the base with donut, but the next thing you knew donut was unconscious and Wash practically had you glued to his side as he ushered you down the hill and behind a makeshift wall.

“Stay down” Wash said as you tried to take a position next to him to start shooting.

Whatever part of you wanted to argue back and keep going, was silenced by something in his tone. The strained “please” the followed had you crouching down before you consciously agreed.

You were struck by the impression that he was scared and it rattled you more than anything the enemy line could have thrown at you.

The freelancers had always seemed superhuman to you, or maybe sub human. There was a time you thought they were all ai super murder bots like Tex. Wash always seemed larger then life when it came to stuff like this.

Then you watched Sarge crumble in an instant and your eyes tracked the shot. You sprang up in a panic. It had come from behind! Wash continued shooting ahead at the enemy line. You head swiveled rapidly expecting to see white soldiers or something. When it was nothing the thought you imagined it flashed through your mind but then you saw it. That shimmer. The one that always let you know Tex was there back in Bloodgulch. Then you heard it. The sound of a gun firing from the direction you were facing. And once again you were moving without thinking. You stepped in front of where Wash was crouched and you were on the ground before you felt throbbing burning pain in your shoulder. The bright exciting kind that promised a horrific ache once the initial shock calmed down, if it ever did.

Your ears began were ringing and your vision began to blacken in the corners with panic. The shot hit your shoulder but suddenly your heart and chest ached and you weren’t getting enough air. The moment Wash turned around he knew you had just taken a bullet for him. A sniper had taken a position behind them and he missed it. Unfortunately he didn’t have enough time after your stunt because a second shot hit him in the head before he could react.

There were several times Wash had woken up during your time in captivity and each time the first thought on his mind was if you were okay and alive. After his initial surgery he found himself handcuffed to a hospital bed across from you and donut , and next to sarge.

The relief of seeing you alive didn’t last long. He was beyond pissed. That he didn’t keep you safe. That he failed yo notice the sniper. That you didn’t just listen and stay the fuck down. At one point he couldn’t even look at you without feeling his stomach twist in an angry knot. What was worse was some part of him knew it was unreasonable. That he would have done the same for you. And another part couldn’t believe that you were willing to die for him. He’d feel an uncomfortable lump in his throat and an ache in his chest that hit just a little to close for him to deal with now. So he did what he always did. Shoved it down in that growing box of things to do with you. The things he couldn’t deal with while worrying about survival, but gave some part of him hope there might be something worth living for when this was all over.

He watches as you and Wash share these stupid inside jokes and the way wash laughs.

It BUGS him.

So much of his life has been tolerating contempt. Tolerating Felix. That Wash looks happy. At peace. That he gets something no solider, no survivor is supposed to he able to. It eats at him and he needs to know. Is it something about you?

So he starts stalking you. Trying to understand what Wash see’s in you and how you love a man broken by war. Maybe some part of him is dying to know: could he be lovable too.

Hypothermia: Wash x reader

The feds are transporting You and Wash, donut and sarge to the mountain base. In transport you start to go through the early phases of hypothermia and Wash tries to warm you up.

Its so cold.

Your next and shoulders hurt from the violent spasming. If your hands weren’t cuffed together you might be able to pull them into your shirt and press then against your body. If you weren’t strapped into the transport you might he able to bring you knees into your chest.

Its so cold it hurts.

You try and keep quiet but your teeth chatter with each shuddering inhalation. You loose warmth with each breath. Wash told you to breath through you nose but your chest is tight and you feel like you not getting enough air. Some distant part of you is urgent, its angry, it wants you to struggle and fight and run but all that comes out are tears.

It’s not fair.

Hours ago you had resorted glaring at the white armor across from you. The way its hands cradled the gun. It’s not fair that another violent stupid war swallowed your life. That it took your friends. These stupid violent people. Motherfuckers.

Now only a whisper remained, a fuzzy and distant echo that failed to register above the blaring alarm that seemed to originate from the base of your skull.

His arm- pressed into the side of you and you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. You don’t know if its an invitation but you take it as one; pressing as much if yourself into him as you can. As your right thigh presses into his you start to notice just how numb the left one had become. You can tell he’s looking at you but you are afraid of what youll find. So you lean your head onto his shoulder.

You close your eyes and focus on him. The gradual softening of his arm. The way he seems to open, and you fit against him as if you were meant to be there. some part of you wants to memorize the details. So the next time you dream of him your have these details to make it feel more real.

The closest you ever came before was maybe a month after the crash. Wash rarely slept through the night and you convinced him to sit with you after one of his nights patrols. Somehow you managed to have your hand resting beside yours. You barely touched and both of you pretended not to notice. Something about the way he stayed still made you bold. You never forgot the way his hand felt in yours. It was like someone electric, even though his gauntlet.

You smiled and felt the echo in your hand now. It felt so real you almost wanted to check that you were still handcuffed. If only your eyes weren’t so tired and suddenly the world around you felt comfortable. It must have been something spiritual, the way that sudden warmth crept through your shoulders and chest. Something about the power of love or mind of matter. You gave into the memory and let them carry you away like a dream.

He hoped he was helping when your shivering started switched from a constant shudder to sporadic intervals. But he knew it didn’t make sense, he was still shivering and you were smaller than him. When he craned his neck, your lips were blue. He tried to wake you up by shifting his shoulder, but you weren’t responsive. He tried saying your name to get your attention. To tell you to stay awake. That slight worry started to elevate into a panic when your response was incoherent.

Eventually his jolting compelled you to look up. You noticed how warm your seat had become and you pressed your back into it more fully. You smiled as the solider across from you. It’s nice they had seat warmers for prisoners. You started to close your eyes again when you felt something bump into you. You felt a spike of frustration as you looked at wash.

“You need to stay awake”

At first you were inclined to ignore him but the way he said please after your name gave you pause. Maybe he didn’t want to be alone.

You decided you would try; just for him.

The next time you wake up you’re strapped to a hospital bed.

Blue Team

Church:

There are three indicators that let Church know pretty quickly. First he actually wants to be around you. Second,   he’s suddenly running scenarios in his head about how you would react during different kinds of potential interaction. To him, being in love is to be vulnerable so he may even test you subtly to see how you react to see how a relationship will go with certain criteria. This is his way of fantasizing about having a relationship with you. Additionally, he's thinking about what circumstances would make you happy. Would you be happy with someone like him? Third, He acts clingy and dumb. He gets tongue tied when you talk to him and he forgets how to think. He’s disgusted and annoyed  with himself when it happens.  To him being in love feels like wanting to be around you more, not necessarily interacting, just enjoying your presence. You're like the sunshine in his life, making things warm and bright when you're there. He likes it especially when you're each doing your own activity but you're near by, where he can see you, kind of like side by side play.  

Tucker: 

Tucker falls in love at first sight or not at all. You catch his eye and he thinks you're hot and it either goes somewhere or it doesn't.  At first he is just focused on trying to get to know everything about you in a.. What you feel, what you think, what you like and to him.  This early infatuation is fragile but he’s also prone to spook and  lose interest. To him it might feel like getting bored all of a sudden out of nowhere. However, If he’s really got it bad, that distance will prove to be a passing phase and he’ll find himself once again not able to get enough of you   in an insatiable curious way.  Depending on when you get to know him he might play hot and cold games with you because he is afraid of emotional intimacy.

Caboose: 

Caboose becomes enamored and infatuated very quickly, however, with romantic love, it takes him some time to come to the realization on his own. At first he is just his normally bubbly self and enjoys talking with you and asking you questions and getting to know you.  He feels a great deal of affection for you and is enthusiastic about spending time with you and getting to know you. This phase can become a bit obsessive and exciting for him, though it does not necessarily register as romantic. As time goes on he has these moments where he feels his heart swelling when he’s around you. He wants to hug you all the time. He wants you to be happy and to make you feel better when you're sad.It builds and builds and  suddenly he finds himself nervous and shy around you. This is when he realizes he has a crush on you and while he wants to confess his feelings, the shyness makes it hard. Kind of like how he acts around Sheila in the first couple seasons.   When your presence is both calming and grounding that's when this affection builds into something more stable and deep.  He is in love when he is at ease around you.

Kai: 

For Kai, love isn't something she likes to think about all that much. To her it's all kind of mysterious and ineffable, but her experience is that It's something that organically grows. When she meets you, there is an instant attraction and she flirts and wants to have sex with you. To her that kind of attraction has nothing to do with love, and during sex she isn't really into anything too intimate: No kissing, no hand holding, no lovey eyes, none of that shit. She expects herself to lose interest at some point. She is upfront about wanting things to be casual and is no nonsense about relationships. She’s honest and you'll know exactly where you stand with her.  When she doesn’t lose interest, she starts to think “huh, that's weird”. This is compounded when she notices herself  wanting to do that lovey shit with you. She has a realization that she's got it bad  and after a brief panic is on her way to woo you into something more. 

Red Team

Sarge: 

When you chew out Grif before he gets the chance to do it himself. Watching you yell at that good for nothing dirtbag for doing something stupid filled him with so much pride and admiration… and a throbbing erection. From there he starts acting weird.  He giggles around you and gets shy and its weird as fuck. 

Simmons: 

Falling in love is very rare for Simmons and it takes time for him. However, when he meets you gets this eerie feeling, something that lets him  know you  would be important in his life.  That phenomenon has been happening to him since he was a kid, and he can't really be sure how the person will be important, he just knows they will be. It is sitting with him and getting to know him through long conversations that help his feelings develop. He starts to get this warm glow when he spends time with you. He starts thinking about you all the time and daydream of all the things he can do to put a smile on your face. He tells himself it's just his brain “feel good hormones/neurotransmitters” (dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin) that make him feel this way. Because the  first time he sit closely to you and holds your hand and he feel warm and high. Sometimes he get so lost in daydreaming he don’t realize what’s going on around him.He is  one of those grinning idiots when in love. He is constantly replaying shared moments in his head 

Grif: 

Grif falls in love gradually and it is largely dependent on him feeling comfortable around you. He finds overt flirting or overly chattiness to be annoying so if you're trying to get to know him it might backfire at first. He finds shyness and dokiness to be endearing.  Over time, in the process of talking to you he notices that as he reveals more of himself, you pay attention and understand him, and more importantly  don't try to change him. Especially the part of him that annoys or frustrates most people, you included. He can handle bitching , but even a hint of “i can fix you” energy has him running for the hills.  That feeling of acceptance is the first thing that starts to warm up his heart.  Once he solidly has a crush,  he is either super serious, super flirty or will walk straight into a wall, sometimes all three. Though, he is particularly nervous about expressing his feelings he will do stuff he doesn't like and doesn't want to do because it makes you happy.  There is also a decent chance he will get depressed thinking he’s not good enough and not make any attempt to get close to that person.However if you show interest he’ll be very nervous but super happy, When it develops into love, he’s  just wide eyed and has the dumbest smile on his face. He’ll try to touch them often and hang near them and become particularly protective. 

Donut: 

Donut is the kind of person who always has a crush on someone. His attention is somewhat limited and he tends to bounce around without ever really letting it stick to deep. His romantic feelings are bright and idealistic and intense. He meets you and suddenly his whole world is sunshine and flowers and romance and he becomes hyper interested in you. However, he's been burned by letting people know how he sincerely feels too soon in relationships so he tends to make light of his feelings so it's hard to tell if he’s being serious or not. Lots of flirting and “love ya” that leaves you wondering how much he really means it.  Much like Caboose, As it develops into stronger and more intense feelings leading up to love, he too get extremely shy. When he is with you,  he finds himself tongue tied, he has no idea what to talk about with you. This is his first clue and he starts to work though his feelings .Love for him is a realization.  He notices how around you, he doesn't have to wear any mask around you. ​He feels completely accepted for who he is and he starts to trust that his feelings are real.  

Freelancers

Washington 

Wash is the type to fall rarely and fall hard when he does. Intimacy and emotional vulnerability don't come easy to him, and his trust has to be earned before he is comfortable letting his guard down. So, it's how you constantly show up for him. It's not even necessarily the big thing, though, those are important. It's the way you’ll find a moment with him each day. A shared look after Tucker or Caboose did something particularly unreasonable. The way you’ll look at him when you ask how he’s really doing. Over time, he starts to feel safe around you and then he notices it.   How driven and passionate you are, how you stick to your values, how he can trust your word to mean something.  Wash processes his feelings  somewhere between "glacial" and "really slowly.") and love is no exception. There’s never really a moment that it ‘clicks’. Instead he suddenly finds himself genuinely looking forward to those moments when you're together. Conversations, even about topics that don’t really have a point, suddenly don’t feel like interruptions or a waste of time. He enjoys watching you light up when you playfully argue that the weather is simply too nice to run drills today. He’ll start changing his schedule to spend more time with you. Without really meaning to he starts to memorize all these details about you, your preferences, your experiences, all of it. One day you'll find he’s cleaned and reassembled your gun after you complained about the trigger getting stuck,  or that your armor doesn't have those old burn marks from where the Meta shot you. This could go on for quite a while so it’ll be up to you to make the first move.  Once he knows he feeling something, he has a hard time putting in into words. If you push him on it he’ll say  “I don't know, I guess it's almost like a feeling of safety? Like coming out of the rain and sitting by the heater with a warm drink I guess” 

Carolina 

Carolina is stand-off ish and it takes a lot for her to even consider someone a potential partner. She has a checklist of things that she would need from someone. Honesty and directness are huge for her. She has zero tolerance for passive aggression or pussy footing around a subject. Even if it is awkward or if she disagrees with it completely she needs to trust that you don't have an ulterior motive or are hiding something. Other than that her standards tend to be high, intelligent, good looking, motivated, etc but Love makes forgiving minor irks easier for her.    The first way she knows she is in love is when you become a priority and or a goal for her.  The second is when she softens.  It's when you make her dinner one night. Box mash potatoes that didn't turn out quite right and some kind of meat which looked suspiciously undercooked. But you were so damn cute trying to put it all together.  She finds herself thinking it was the best meal anyone had ever made for her in her life.  To her love feels like a wellspring of energy and kindness  that she actually wants to share.. Sometimes she finds herself wondering if you're some kind of drug; she can't get enough of you , she’s laughing and delighted by the dumbest shit you do, she can't sleep. Once she’s in,  she's 150% in and she is dedicated and loyal.

Thinking about how blue team celebrated Washs birthday after he joined the team and how caboose called him church.

Its so bittersweet. Like church probably made a giant deal of his birthday every year and without him there Caboose just uses wash as a substitute.

So they throw a party and caboose tries makes a cake. tucker is upset at first because he hates replacing church but ends up feeling bad for caboose so he helps make a real cake. Grif shows up because he realizes there is cake and the rest of the red follow. They just think it’s wash’s birthday though and they all say happy birthday to him.

Caboose insists they sing happy birthday to him.

Poor Wash is just like going with the flow because what else can he do. it’s literally the nicest thing anyones done for him in years but its not his birthday.

Bonus: Simmons knows it isn’t his birthday because he read that psych file of wash. There is this moment he mentions “ but it’s not actually your birthday” and wash is like “how do you know”
