Natalie Wood photographed at home by Earl Leaf on February 15th, 1957. Located at 3331 Laurel Canyon Blvd. in Studio City (the house still exists largely unchanged), Natalie paid $12,500 (loaned to her by Warner Bros.) for the 3,047 square foot, four bedroom, three bathroom mid-century style house in 1956 and lived there with her parents and younger sister Lana for a couple of years before moving out and giving it to her family when she married actor Robert Wagner ten months after these photos were taken (the newlyweds bought an albatross of a mansion in Beverly Hills, a residence plagued with problems---like their first marriage---which culminated in Natalie's massive marble bathtub crashing through the floor). The Studio City house featured in these photos was conveniently located near Warner Bros. Studios and altered to suit Natalie's specifications, and she insisted on having a private apartment-like suite with it's own outside entrance in order to create a sense of privacy and distance herself somewhat from her domineering stage mother and alcoholic father who frequently engaged in violent screaming matches. Though she was photographed puttering around in the kitchen, Natalie said at the time: "I'm not domestic. If I don't learn to cook, maybe I won't have to!" True to her word, she had chefs on staff for the rest of her life and her cooking repertoire was pretty much limited to her prized egg dish, huevos rancheros.
