@olpmin-yoongi
A chance appeared and Keumjo took it right away. When she saw that a group of music students were holding an audition for a small play, she decided to try out her luck. To her surprise, it was a musical; to her bigger surprise, she was not as tone-deaf as she thought she was. So the music students gave her the role and the opportunity to record her characterâs main song; a cover from Younhaâs What Does My Heart Become. It took her a couple of tries, but she convinced them to give her a copy before anyone else. Itâs for someone special, she had told them. And, indeed, it was.
That day she had gotten home earlier, while Yoongi was still at the flower shop. He spent a lot of time there and she wondered if he ever missed her; the demigoddess knew she missed him a lot. She held the pen in her hand for a while before placing it down the kitchenâs counter together with a blue post-it note. But soon sheâd have to leave again, this time she had a class she needed to attend. And so she left through the door.
On the post-it note, it read:
âCongratulations! Youâre the first person to hear me sing. Did I do well?
Love you, Keumjoâ
When Yoongi finally got home he was tired and hungry. He was ready to collapse onto the couch and do nothing except maybe spend time with Keumjo the rest of the day. It wasnât until he called out that he was home and got nothing but silence that he remembered that Keumjo had her class today. Suddenly the apartment felt colder and less inviting. Yoongi turned on the tv in hopes of disrupting the silence but a little bit of loneliness kept digging at his chest.Â
It wasnât until he entered the kitchen to figure out what to make for dinner that evening that he spotted the CD. His eyebrows climbed higher and higher as he read the sticky note. Keumjo had recorded a song? When had this happened? He felt another pang in his heard at the realization he hadnât known. He wondered if it had meant to be a surprise.Â
Forgetting all about what he had been doing before, Yoongi moved over to his laptop and slipped the disc in. He muted the tv and turned his speakers all the way up before he hit play. Keumjoâs voice filled the room and Yoongi wished more than ever that Keumjo was there with him. She was really good. He wished he could hear the performance live. He sat there silently, taking in the words with his eyes closed. It was a beautiful song but it hurt to hear Keumjo say such sad words.Â
More than ever he wanted to be with Keumjo now. Yoongi checked the clock on the wall and grabbed his keys and coat. If he left now he could meet Keumjo just as her class was getting out. Maybe he could take her out to eat and spoil her a bit. In celebration of her song, he would tell her. Mostly, though, he just wanted to be with her.Â
Ï â Back to the future
numberxix:
She couldnât help the chuckle that escaped her lips, hiding them behind her open palm. Keumjo whispered a small and quick âsorryâ, but there was more to it than what she let out. Glancing by the corner of her eyes at the male that sat next to her, she scoffed lightly at his words as she looked away into the sky a second time. âMaybe that is the problem: getting out while you can and donât letting the nurses know where you are.â For a moment, she wondered if once sheâd look back there would be a nurse rolling up their sleeves and reaching for their ears just to drag them back to their rooms and families. The teen reached almost right away for her own and checked if they were still there. Yes, they were.
Wait. Was that an attitude that she was spotting? This scrawny guy that was sensibly her height was judging her? Ah, youth nowadays was lost. âYeah, Iâm one to talk. So what?â If he had a problem, he could run towards the first nurse heâd encounter. That was if he could take five steps without falling on the ground with his IV drip over him. Keumjo clicked her tongue inside her mouth, not completely pleased with the course this conversation was taking. But the mind of a teenager was full of contradictions most of the times. Such as wanting to know what brought him here while not wanting to have anything to do with him.
âThe doctors donât know how to fix it? Why? What is it?â She turned around to face him, her brows quirked in surprise. Was he a terminal patient? Was she being harsh to a guy who was at deathâs door? Keumjo gasped at how rude she came out as. âAh, s-sorry, that was probably rudeâŠâ
âHyperglycemia,â Yoongi recited from memory. He had heard variations on the phrasing from various doctors for weeks on end. The problem was that while high blood sugar was the much debated cause of his coma, the symptoms didnât match up with the diagnosis. He realized a while ago not to trust the diagnosis.Â
âIâm diabetic,â Yoongi explained, âOr thatâs what Iâm told. The insulin they had me on put me in a coma and they canât figure out why.â Nobody had told him it was the insulinâs fault, of course, but he could read between the lines. Apparently he could match cause and effect better than his doctors.Â
If he was a little bitter it was understandable.Â
Yoongi have a distant smile and his hand gripped his iv drip tighter. The stupid thing was a constant reminder of his bodyâs current limitations. He hadnât had problems when he was younger. Why did this have to happen now? âIâm stuck here until they can figure out how to get my body working properly.âÂ
Upset and wanting to change the subject, Yoongi asked, âAnd what about you? What has you stuck around these parts?âÂ
"Noooo. Don't go." Now that she has a hold of his hand, Keumjo will hardly let go of him. Instead she emerges from between the blankets with messy hair and her eyes still closed. "It will get cold here..."
Seeing Keumjoâs face all puffy with sleep as she pleaded him not to go was a blow to his already weak desire to go to work. He couldnât give in, though. The flowers in the shop were counting on him.Â
âIâm sorry,â he said, leaning down and pressing a kiss into her hair, âIâll be back soon, I promise.â
"Yoongi, do you have to go to work today?" A voice comes from the depths of valley of sheets and blankets; a hand reaches out, looking for him.
He doesnât, is what he wants to say as he stares down at Keumjo. He is still groggy with sleep and probably needs to eat something but the view of Keumjo sprawled out comfy in bed is so inviting. He has never been a fan of rising before the sun.Â
âI have to be there for the morning shipment,â Yoongi says weakly. He reaches out and takes Keumjoâs hand, âIâll be back later this morning though?â
Her shift was over for the day and that meant one thing: weekend was closer than ever! But to make her day better, there was someone missing. He was probably surrounded by plants and with more important things in mind tho. Yet she was on her way to the flower shop with some sweet stuff that she got on her own job. She got there, but no one seemed to be inside; where they even working? She walked up to where the tulips were and waited for someone that could help her to show up.
The flower shop had been quiet all day. Yoongi was asleep on a chair in the back room when he heard the bell over the entrance chime for the first time in an hour. He bolted upright and nearly fell out of his chair in his haste to get up. He didnât want to leave the customer waiting.Â
Rubbing a hand over groggily eyes, Yoongi stepped into the front room, âSorry to keep you waiting. How may I help--â When he finally looked up he stopped. There Keumjo stood, surrounded by flowers and looking like an image from a dream. He wondered if he was still asleep.Â
Brightening immediately, he walked over to her with a grin growing on his face. âKeumjo,â He said, pleasantly surprised, âWhat are you doing here?â
Ah, there he was: the boy she fell in love for. She could see him every day, but he became clearer every time he'd get through his embarrassment to reach for her. She makes him happy. She never thought she'd hear those words coming from anyone, but an inanimate item in her shelf, but here they were. "You make me happy as well, did you not know that?" Her voice became softer as she reached for his hand and took it in hers. "The happiest girl in the planet, actually. And I love you for that."
Yoongi couldnât help the smile that broke out across his face. âYeah?â he said, leaning in close and threading their fingers together. Teasing, he said, âYou should tell me more often.â He dropped a kiss on her forehead, her cheek, and then her lips.Â
âI love you, too,â he whispered against her skin, unable to stop smiling even if his life depended on it.Â
"In the future." She agreed with him before muttering. "We still got time to practice, I suppose." But her day would not be completed without teasing him. So she fought the growing mischievous grin on her face and reached her fingers to his cheek, pinching it gently. "Oh, you haven't? Well, in that case, what do you think about it now?"
Yoongi was red to the tips of his ears now. How did he not guess Keumjo would turn this into a chance to tease him? He should have known. Still, he forced himself through the embarrassment and and answered honestly.Â
âFor now,â he said, resting a hand on her thigh and looking here in the eye, âIâm happy with just you. You make me happy.â He knew she could see how embarrassed he was but he wouldnât back down.Â
The question took her by surprise, she admitted that; even when it shouldn't. Her temperature raised a little and her breath got caught on her throat, but nothing that big to stop her from responding to him. "Well..." She tilted her head to the side. "If it happens, it happens. But I don't want to be a young mom. I'd like to learn my lessons first and, then, /maybe/ have a kid." Every time she'd think about this, there was one thing she was sure: she didn't want to be like her mom. "You?"
âAh,â Yoongi said, flushing, âI didnât mean have kids now. Just, you know, in the future.â He cleared his throat and tried to resist the temptation to hid his face. Why was he getting flustered now? He had been the one to bring the topic up.Â
âUm, I donât know? To be honest, I haveât really thought about it much.â
"Really." She nodded a couple of times. "I think she's fine. I've not spoken to her a lot lately, but she doesn't look bad. I mean, honestly, it makes me mad because she's younger than me and is going to be a mom already." Keumjo cannot even take care of her comic books, let it alone a child. "It just bugs me, 'cause they were not careful." Or so she thought.
Yoongi couldnât imagine being a parent at his age. He was comfortable with the life he was living now and knew a child would complicate things. If he was being honest, he had never even thought about having kids before. It was odd to think someone he knew was going to become a mother. He knew Minjuâs life would get more complicated now. He hoped he could handle it.Â
Out of curiosity, Yoongi asked, âWould you ever want kids, Keumjo?â It was something they had never talked about before. He wondered how she would react.Â
Keumjo was pretty much like an old lady from a small town, she knew almost every thing that happened. Nodding her head, she whispered the response to his questions. "Minju."
Yoongi leaned back in surprise, âNo, really?â Thinking about it now, he hadnât spoken to Minju since he graduated. He hadnât realized Keumjo was still in contact with her. âThatâs great news! How is she, anyway?â
She made sure no one was there to listen to what she had to say and even that Keumjo leaned closer to him, so she could whisper. "One of our friends is pregnant..."
That comment grabbed his attention. He turned fully to her and leaned in closer, âWait, really? Who?â Already, in his head he was planning a celebratory meal.
Ï â Back to the future
He certainly looked like someone who needed all the help he could get, and Keumjo was just doing what she thought was the right thing. But she got a feeling that something about this guy was not completely right ( and all she needed was to have his hand in hers ). The moment their hands touched, she could swear that unknowingly to her someone had planted a whole garden of tulips around her, their perfume softly involving her like a cloud. It calmed her down, even though she didnât understand the extant of how on the edge she has been lately. It left her speechless for a few seconds, before she came back to reality and shook those thoughts and scenarios away.Â
There was no such a thing.
Keumjo pulled him up easily, helping him with IV pole as well. âYou should be more careful. You wonât want to end up in the hospital more time than you need.â Although there were people that liked to spend their time on a hospitalâs bed, she was almost sure that that wasnât his case; it certainly wasnât hers â she couldnât wait to be reunited with her comics. The brunette helped him getting to the bench, letting him go only once he sat down and wasnât in risk of falling from there. She, on the other hand, occupied the edge of the same bench, pulling her legs up and crossing them over the wood.
âWhy are you here? Did you get into an accident?â Keumjo pointed to the IV drip, her mind already coming up with almost and every kind of possible scenario. The most repetitive: an ahjussi hit him and ran.
Yoongi was embarrassed this girl saw him in such a pathetic state. It didnât help that she was pretty, either. Still, he accepted her fussing, used to everyone treating him like something fragile by then, and sat down without complaint. He had to admit that it felt good to sit down and rest his tired body outside under the sun.Â
Yoongi rolled his eyes at her words. How often had he heard âbe carefulâ in the last few weeks? âI doubt Iâm getting out of here any time soon anyway,â he said, a little bitter, âI might as well get out while I can.â He cast his eyes over to the girl beside him and took in her appearance. She was in hospital clothing with no nurse in sight. He suspected they were in the same boat. âBesides, youâre one to talk,â he mentioned offhandedly.Â
Yoongi bit his lip at her comment. âNo, not an accident. More like my body decided to rebel against me and the doctors donât know how to fix it.â
"Yoongi-ah, you won't believe what I found out..."
âWhat?â Yoongi asked, turning toward Keumjo beside him.Â

She smiled in return. "I've been so busy with work and studying that I ended up having no time." Her hand reached for his cheek and stopped once she felt his skin under her fingertips. "I'm sorry..."
Yoongi reached up and took the hand on his cheek, stringing their fingers together. âItâs fine. I know you canât help being busy.â
"I could." She paused. "But what do I get in return?" But she knew better than just waiting for him to answer. Keumjo got off of his back and knelt besides him. "Are you okay? Was I too much?" Getting him hurt was not one of her top priorities. Believe it or not, this person was pretty much the only person that had patience for her.
When she lifted off of him he felt like he could breathe again. âItâs fine,â he said, turning toward where Keumjo was kneeling next to him and smiling up at her, âItâs good to see you.â
