“I see. Evil. Misguided. Hm.” Amja said, simply. “You said us, though. Are you also a mutant?”

Jacqueline fished around in her purse for a useful gadget as henchfolks began to pour into the room. “Ah, this I can handle.” Using a bottle of hairspray, Jacqueline created a wall between them and the huddled masses of faceless henches.
“We should get out of here.”
Amja watched the woman work, with a smile on his face as he saw what she was doing. Ever since he left home he was surprised with what people could do with different resources. If he ever came back, maybe he could show his family how to do that.
Once he figures out what she just did.
“That was very cool.” He said in awe. “But, yes, exits are good. Let’s exit.”

“Its just.. There’s a purifier rally here in half an hour. I’m trying to warn everyone before they really start showing up.You want an escort out of the area?”
“I... I am new to the United States. What is a Purifier?”

Jacqueline does as he says and stays quiet. The look on her face, however, is skeptical of the man’s chances.
A quick nod of thanks, before he let his body slip into invisibility. With no sound other than a villainous monologue between the trio, Amja tapped a few buttons to shut down the villain’s large, dramatic computer.
When the evil doer turned, he met Amja’s fist as he reappeared visibly.
“If you’d like a turn hitting him, I do not object.”

“Yes, I am.” A pause. “Why?”

“Very sorry.” Amja rubbed the back of his neck. “Thought maybe your suit could see me invisible... but I guess not.”

“Target.” Cherry spat like Target killed her family personally. “Target has everything. It’s an architectural department store, after all, so I shouldn’t be surprised. But I am resentful. Grr.”
Well, anyway. Being mad at Target didn’t get her cool headphones. “Which one? You have to be specific because they have different everythings at different stores. Was it the one with the Pizza Hut inside? Or the Starbucks? Or the non-specific eatery?”
He blinked once, then twice at the woman’s detest of said department story. Amja rubbed the back of his neck. This conversation was getting much more intense than he wanted it to be. “Uhm.” He stammered for a moment. “Starbucks. Starbucks... inside.”

Although it was true that Amja himself didn’t know his way around... mostly anywhere in the United States at this point, he didn’t this it was that obvious. But apparently it was.
Maybe it was his accent? Did that give him away? Or maybe the obviously confused look in his eyes. Or, perhaps, the fact he had asked this woman who, to him, seemed shrouded in some kind of mystery.
“Bagels are good.” Was all he could muster up saying to the woman, before his train of thought went back on track. “But, yes. Doorman was... unhelpful. To say the least.”

“I have not worn your pervert sensory deprivation headphones.” Oh, that’s right. She came over to ask where he got the headphones from. They looked very fancy.
“Where’d you get ‘em? TJ Maxx? K-Mart? Please say somewhere cheap.”
Amja examined them. “I did not think they were perverted.” He frowned slightly, holding them closer to himself. He didn’t quite know all the stores in New York, but he did remember his small shopping trip to somewhere where they had everything.
“Target. It is red and white. It has a bull’s eye and a dog?”

A brief amused look.
“A child of the sea, that is all. Though one that cares for it far too deeply then most.”
He yawns, and stretches.
“Will you tell me now?”
“I guess I could say the same.” Amja’s arms remained crossed. He didn’t fully trust this stranger. “Usually Americans. Chinese. Japanese.” He admitted. “Anyone who sells fish in big markets. Those are the people who hurt the reef.”

“Do you not fish in this area. do you not collect bounty in it. the sea will love you as much as the sea can if you respect it and do not overreach beyond what you do.”
A few words.
“Again I ask. Who are these foreigners you speak of.”
That message was clear enough. His eyes narrowed, however. In a world of gods, monsters, heroes, and villains, he had to know who he was speaking to. “Not always my decision.” He said calmly. “Before I tell you that, can I know who you are?”

“But at times, they take too much from the sea. Despite its richness. There is a limit.”
He argues back because he had seen the effects of overfishing. It effects atlantean life as well.
“These…foreigns. Have they over fish in your water as well?”
He was curious about this foreigner now. He spoke like no English speaker he’s met before. Amja listened quietly, not quite knowing who they were. But he was right; the ocean did have a limit.
“It is not our water.” Amja said. “The ocean belongs to everyone. We just live there.”
