Maddox follows the other’s moves, struggling to keep up with his dancing. He let out a short chuckle at the comment and pushed the thought away of him messing up. With a quick motion, Maddox catches Finn before he could stumble, steadying him with his hand on the other’s shoulder. “I think you’re getting too ahead of yourself,” he teased with a wide grin. “You’re very hard to keep up with.”

He smirks and nods “Okay, yeah, I get ahead of myself sometimes, but it’s always good to have a partner that can hold me back.” Finn chuckles, trying to send them both into another spiraling loop. Unfortunately he almost knocks into another wolf’s shoulder, cringing he apologizes.

Maddox glanced around them once he did a short bow and tried to refrain himself from chuckling at the sight. No one had bowed to him before and he definitely wasn’t worth bowing to. Before he knew what was happening he was being pulled out into the dance floor, being tugged by the other stable boy. “Don’t have high expectations,” he warned, smiling as he brought his hands to the other’s side.

Finn swings them around, grinning from ear to ear like a crazy man. He laughs lightly, “It’s alright,” He says, “When I’m involved I don’t exactly have the highest expectations either.” He swings around again, somehow managing to trip over his own feet.

Finn was too busy having a mental battle with himself to pay attention to his king’s words. Surely, surely he had not mated with Viktor. Surely he had not mated with Tatiana’s brother. The scent hits him again, stronger this time, and that blasted away any doubts that he had once held. Oh God. Finn mated with Tatiana’s brother. His face goes instantly pale all the blood seemingly draining from his face into his feet. Oh shit. He puts a hand to his face. Oh shit.

“Oh Gods,” He groans in disbelief. “I can’t believe it.” He looks up at him, feeling his stomach curl. He felt like he had just betrayed Tatiana. Oh what would she think? He’s her best friend. He shouldn’t be going behind her back like that and mating with her brother. Oh Gods, what would she think of him? “I think I’m going to be sick,” He finally says, hand going to his stomach as he bends at the waist. And all because he couldn’t control his gods damned instincts. What an idiot he must seem.

Viktor’s smile dropped from his face as the omega named Finnick paled before him. He had wanted to surprise the other wolf, but he had no intentions of causing him discomfort. He thought that he had made it clear back in the woods. The mating ritual was a normal event during the change, and while he occasionally met with his past partners face-to-face, this reaction was a first for him. Why, the stable boy seemed to be on the brink of a panic attack. Was it so shocking to discover that the alpha he had mated with happened to be someone he vaguely knew? Was it that much of a problem giving into their most basic instincts?

He reached out, then hesitated. It didn’t look like the omega would appreciate being touched at that moment. “Would you like to sit down for a bit?” The king gestured to the seat beside him, looking sheepish rather than affronted by Finnick’s bad reaction. “Look, er, I know that this may be awkward. But I want you to know that this wasn’t planned exactly.” Nothing was planned when the full moon arose. Logic and reasoning were always thrown out the window, and while it was a brief relief at times, now Viktor found that he was kicking himself for not being more cautious with his picks. “If it makes any difference, I didn’t know at the time. I was, um…” He flushed with embarrassment. ‘Distracted’ sounded like an awful way to put it. “She doesn’t know, if that’s what you were worried about.”

He slowly moves to plop into the nearby chair, head in his hands as he groans. “Look-Look,” Finn murmurs, “It’s not-It’s not anything you did. It’s me, okay?” Aware that he’s sounding like a bad romance novel he shakes his head. “I know it wasn’t planned, I know that you didn’t exactly have a choice in the matter. But the fact is that I could have … could have done something.” He looks up, watching the people swirl around the dance floor as if everything was fine. To them, perhaps it was, nothing terrible had happened to them to threaten their friendship with anyone.

“My parents were right,” He mutters, “To lock me up like they used to do. My first mating, and what do I do? I fuck my best friend’s brother.” Finn looks to him, a permanent frown etched into his features. “Her not knowing really doesn’t help. I’ll need to tell her. But gods I don’t know what she’ll say.” He looks to his feet, a leg jumping in anxiety, fingers knitting and unknitting. “I’m sorry. You didn’t do anything wrong…”

“I hope it’s not the last time, but I also hope that there are more chances for celebrations like this,” he says, shaking his head, a worried frown on his features. More importantly he wanted to get his mind off this dull business.

He sends a smirk to the other stable boy, “Well, Maddox, do you want to take a spin around the ballroom floor? We can’t let the dancers have all the fun.” He chuckles, “And I promise that I’ll try to not step on your toes. Not that I’ll succeed at it.”

The festivities had been going smoothly and it was a surprise that no one had acted out against it. Maybe this was just one step closer to the peace that  Ronsanella longed for. 

His mouth fell open at the mention of dancing and eventually he flashed a quick smile. “I’m sure to return the favor. I’m not much a dancer but I’m willing to embarrass myself if you are.”

He holds out a hand to him, grin still present on his face as he bows at the waist. “Well then,” He starts, keeping back a chuckle that wants to rattle his chest. “Let’s begin.” Finn takes the other man’s hand, pulling him up and swirling him onto the dance floor in what seems to be a mirage of limbs and bodies.

Finn is not the most coordinated of wolves.

The young man who had come within passing was a vaguely familiar face; he was someone who often accompanied his sister about, though they had never shared many words between each other. But there was something else that was recognizable within very, very recent memory. The scent of freshly sheared grass, groomed horses, the underlying distinction carried by all omegas with a streak of defiance. Viktor’s eyes widened behind his mask, and he choked on his drink mid-swallow. He coughed a few times, clearing his airway while he reeled in his discovery.

“…Poetic is one way to put it.” He managed, recovering with some level of mirth. ‘Ironic’ would have been a far better way to describe their reunion. Had the omega recognized him at all? He said nothing about it, waiting to see if the stable boy came to the same realization as he had. “I would like to think that a peace like this is achievable. Enjoying the ball?”

“Yeah, Aurelia,” he said, nodding. He could sense that Finn felt bitter about the two kingdoms being together. Most of the people there felt the same way but didn’t express it aloud. “Maddox,” he said, shaking his hand. 

The bringing together of the two kingdoms wasn’t supposed to make them hate each other anymore. Or at least put aside some differences for a while and realize that in some ways they’re alike. But Maddox knew that after this it would just go back to being normal in both kingdoms. The distaste for the other kingdom obvious. “It could stay the same. Not hate but not an alliance. This might be the only time you’ll see us corporate.”

Finn’s hideaway

He sighs when the man lowers his voice, giving a small smile at that. It was always best in silent places like these to speak quietly. He shifts in the darkness, hearing the rustle of the other wolfs clothing. He clicks his tongue, hearing how it bounces off him before he is raising his arm, offering the boy a hand, gaze fixed to the right of his head. 

“Zechariach Cormac, former knight and current weapons trainer. I still perform guard duty however, oft during the night.” He gives him a small smile, unaware of the boys own smile. A product of being blind. e can’t help but sniff again taking in the boys scent, smelling the headiness that lingers always in an omegas scent, and knows he should be careful not to spook this one, if they are spook-able.

He takes his hand, shaking it. He finds it strange when the wolf’s gaze seems to go beyond him, until he realizes. Oh, he’s blind. He thinks to himself. No wonder the other man had wanted Finn to keep quiet. “Well,” he says, “Nice to meet you Zech.” A rule with Finn is to always throw someone off by giving them a nickname. 

He pauses for a moment, then shrugs, “I guess I should probably tell you why I’m here right?” he really didn’t want to mention it, but Zech seemed okay, even if he probably could break Finn in half with a snap of his finger.

Finn’s Feast (Open)

Tatiana couldn’t help but giggle at the thought of Finn wearing one of her many flouncy dresses - she was always laughing whenever they were together, it would seem, no matter just how long or stressful her day might have been, or how worried she was about her elder brother and the kingdom that they shared, and she was eternally grateful for the warmth and comfort that her fellow omega provided her with…after the death of her parents, relocating to the castle for the very first time had been quite the shock to say the very least, especially when she had learned that she would be forced to pretend to be a beta, but with Finn, she didn’t have to fret over any of that…she could just be herself, and she hoped that he felt the same way as well despite their differences in rank within the royal grounds. She giggled again when he flexed his muscles for her, taking another bite of her pastry before reaching out and giving one of his arms a little pat - it was true, while he might not have had the sort of bulky frame that an alpha, for instance, would boast, he still had the kind of lean and corded definition that came from years and years of hard work, sinewy muscles that featured more than their fair share of strength. He was handsome, too - this she had known from the very first day that she had met - and she didn’t doubt that, on the night of the full moon, he would have no shortage of alphas attempting to claim him as their own. 

“Oooh! Ice-skating!” Tatiana breathed excitedly, with a delighted clap of her dainty hands once she had finished swallowing the last bit of food in her mouth. With the sort of attention span one could compare to a squirrel, she had already forgotten all about mating entirely - now what she was looking forward to was venturing out onto the frozen lake with her best friend. She eagerly devoured what was left on her plate - in record  time - and then squirmed restlessly in her seat, reaching for one of Finn’s calloused hands and squeezing it gently between both of her much smaller ones as she beamed up at him happily. “I am being done eating for now, but after we are build up appetite from skating, we can be come back, yes? Or maybe I am tucking away mini muffins in pocket for walk over, hmm?” She giggled - yet again - and plucked one of the aforementioned snacks from the table in front of her, nibbling on it even as she spoke of having had enough to eat - perhaps that wasn’t something that was possible for the young princess.

Finn was always astonished how much she could pack away but he gives her half a smile, a breathless laugh escaping him. “Uh, you know I can’t skate right,” he chuckles, “I never learned. I think it could be fun though, and if I don’t pick up on it you could always watch me flounder around and fall on my a-“ He stops himself from cussing. Ever since he had met Tatiana he could never cuss around her for some reason. It just never felt right. Maybe it was the innocent vibe she gave off, or maybe he was just trying to be better for her, either way he stumbles to finish his sentence, “Booty.” He gawks an awkward smile at her.

He smiles as she grabs some more muffins, “Hey you might outgrow some of your dresses eating like that, then you could hand them over to me.” Usually he wouldn’t even dare to comment on a noble lady’s weight, but Tatiana was different in every way, he knew that he could poke and prod at her, and she would poke and prod back. Just harder. Finn stands after a moment, giving a funny little bow, “Would the lady like to skate with her squire?” He laughs.

The mention of him being a stable boy caused him to turn his head. He didn’t recognize the stranger so he must be from Sansoria. They were in the same predicament and he nodded along to his words. “We’ll see when the hunt begins. Everyone will get competitive and get aggressive.” 

Maddox had thought about it and decided he wouldn’t participate in the hunt. He was barely strong by himself much less in a group of them with a common interest. “So you work in the stables?” He asked, tilting his head. “You don’t look familiar.”

“And neither do you,” he hums, a small smirk on his face, “So you must be from the other kingdom right?” Finn shrugs. It figures that he would eventually bump into someone from Aurelia, the entire festival was supposed to celebrate both kingdoms, though he had mostly interacted with his own people it was nice to see that someone from the opposite faction believed the same as he did. “Well, I’m Finn,” He says holding out a hand.

“And I really hope he don’t hate each other by the end of this ill fated celebration.”

Finn’s hideaway

He clicks his tongue again, more so a sound of disapproval at the bark in his tone when he defends his youth. The boy is loud in these silent halls, and he grimaces at the loudness of it. “Please, quiet down. you hurt my ears in this silence.” He shifts where he stands. Does the boy know him? He was a regular visit to the castle, he taught young knights who guarded at night how to fight without relying on their eyes, he might have been seen around.

He tilts his head, ducking it at the question, knowing he is no longer a knight, not truly, not like he once was. That part is still painful, even after 7 years. He heaves a soft sigh. “I am a weapons trainer. I train the night guards.”

“Oh,” he says, trying to quiet his voice. He doesn’t know the exact reason why he lowers his voice but he doesn’t want to offend the other wolf. Especially when he reveals that he is, in fact, a trainer. Meaning that he was probably a lot stronger than Finn would ever be.

“Well, then I guess introduction are in order,” He says, giving him a polite smile. He is unaware that the other man cannot see it. “I’m Finn, a stable hand here at the castle.”

He himself was only allowed in this wing of the castle because he was a former knight, and still held much of the command he once had had. He has a hand on the pommel of his sword when he smells and hears an omega walking through halls they should not be in. He twists as he walks, clicking his tongue in the darkness of his bind gaze, listening to it bounce off the walls and the omega a good twenty feet away. 

He strides over to the omega, long legs eating up the distance between them easily. When he’s no ore than a few feet in front of him he sniffs again, smelling his fear and instantly softening his posture and his facial expression, making himself seem less threatening to the young omega. He knows his face is hidden in shadow, adn he wants to keep it that way; no use scaring the poor omega with the sight of his eyes when they’re already afraid. 

“I am down here because as a former knight I have the liberty of visiting the armory on occasion to replenish my stock for training young ones like you.”

“I’m not that young!” He immediately defends, his voice echoing down the halls. “I’m 23! Not a pup!” Finn huffs, cheeks a light shade of pink at the comment, tilting his head. He couldn’t place exactly who this man was, he seemed familiar though. 

Finn had almost forgotten that the armory lurked down here, he only needed to visit once, when a noble had requested his sword be brought to him. Even if he did lurk in these dark halls, he never wandered too far out of what he found comfortable.

“Do I... do I know you?” He asks after a moment, he would have thought he would recognize a knight, or at least, a former one if what the other wolf was saying was new.

“Every werewolf has their own specialities. Every pack looks for certain wolves to patch the customs of their pack. My pack I have been a part of since birth. We’re all a family and all wolves in my pack has their own purpose.” The werewolf said considerately. Carina waited for his response before explaining more later on. Carina was raised to accept any omega as who they are. To accept them as they’re weak and raise them up so that they were strong. Like most werewolves in her pack, they were born into. Many generations of werewolves were in her pack and once in a blue moon would she recruit newcomers since her numbers have increased throughout the seasons of births among her pack. 

“I am offering you a family, omega. You’ve lived without one I bet for your entire life. I can supply that for you. We have many women and men here all to be used to build relationships with to grow up with and explore lands together. I may be quite ruthless, but family is one thing I take serious and care most about.”

“You’re admitting to being ruthless, you know that right?” he lifts a brow, though he does frown. “I’ve never had a family,well, a real family since the day my parents figured out I was an omega. I can say that your offer is a good one, that much is true, but I’m gonna be really forward here and say that I won’t sit idly by if you decide you want to fuck something up.”

He folds his arms, “If you hurt Sansoria or her people without a just cause I won’t only turn on you but I promise I’ll kill you. And if you ever, and I do mean ever, hurt the princess of this land then I will not wait even a millisecond to leave this pack.”

He smirks, “But otherwise, I’d love to join.”

Maddox caught himself from agreeing with him when he noticed that the other was a noble by the way he was dressed. He didn’t think that the nobles would think this was a waste of time but some people did, Maddox might be included in that as well. As he continued he figured that there wouldn’t be any harm in agreeing with him.

“I am probably worse on my feet than you are,” he said, keeping his eyes trained on the dance floor. Most of these dancers had been trained to dance since they were young and Maddox had no comprehension of any of it. “It might be stupid, but it brings the kingdoms together. All the tension aside for a few days.” Maddox thought that the kingdoms together would do more harm than good. The hunt on the following day would prove that something would go horrible eventually but he wasn’t about to express his predictions with a noble.

“It’ll only last a little while,” His happy demeanor slowly slides away, “I may be just a stable boy but I know that something’s bound to happen.” In all actuality, a friend of Finn’s had borrowed for him a dazzling suit for him to dance in. Though, he had never admitted to them that he had two left feet and no dancing would probably occur.

“It’s good while it lasts but...” he bites at his lip in thought, “...It’ll only make things worse in the end. I can almost bet on it.”

The masquerade was in full swing, with dancers gliding across the field in an array of colours that clashed and complimented one another simultaneously. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, and for once Viktor allowed himself the chance to hope that these peaceful moments would continue. Looking at both friend and foe alike enjoying themselves during one of the most sacred times of the year was precisely the image of the Ronsanella that the monarch wished to create. For now he was content to watch on the sidelines, drink in hand as he relished the quiet anonymity that the silk mask across his face allowed for.

His peaceful solitude was interrupted as he sensed the presence of an approaching figure nearby. “It’s quite the show, isn’t it? It seems so hard to believe that both kingdoms don’t get along during times like these.”

A friend had snuck him a suit, he actually looked quite fashionable in it. Even if the collar was a bit tight. Finn grumped around the outskirts of the ballroom floor, watching as dazzling dresses swirled around and around. He gave a bitter frown as someone laughed.

Ugh, if only he knew how to dance.

He was going to get yet another cup of wine when the smelled it again. The scent of roses with angry thorns... He turns wondering where it’s coming from when a man speaks up.

“Uh,” He says, shifting from one foot to another, “Yeah it’s ... almost poetic I guess.”

The night so far had been uneventful for Maddox which is why he chose to stay away from the dance floor. His eyes followed the movements of the others dancing and laughing. Observing everyone else was just as enjoyable as the dance itself for him. All the exquisite dresses and attire of the night was far from his own clothing and that much was obvious. Once the song ended he began applauding with everyone else. From the corner of his eye he saw someone come and stand behind most likely speculating the crowd the same as he was. Maddox crossed his arms across his chest as he the next song began. There wasn’t a real reason for him being there except if someone were to ask for a favor or task that night. There was a rare chance of anyone asking him to dance which he knew. 

He didn’t pay any attention to whoever was standing beside him until they spoke. Maddox turned his head, the words not being comprehended as he was too deep in his own thoughts. “I’m sorry I didn’t catch that.”

Finn didn’t dance. Okay, Finn didn’t dance well. That would be the better way to describe it, but he did enjoy watching people have a good time. Silently he stood on the side lines. It seemed that most of the people taking part in the revelries were simply showing off, especially with their smooth movements and fancy turns. He shakes his head, rolling his eyes.

“It’d be a shame if someone were to trip,” He says allowed, probably not the best thing to do. He turns his attention to the person beside him when they speak, having not been paying attention to who was beside him. “Oh, sorry. I was just commenting on how stupid this all is,” he smirks, “But that’s probably ‘cus I’d look like a fool out there.”

Where Wolves Wander I Open I

Much to his satisfaction, he had been successful in capturing the flighty omega, his tail remaining firmly beneath his paw as he tried to dart away again. Viktor towered over him, growling smugly at his swift victory. They both knew that it was inevitable, but it had gotten his blood pumping and had added a new sweetness to his hunt. The alpha gave the omega a moment to sulk as he himself reveled in his good fortune.

Understanding the terms of surrender, Viktor allowed the wolf press up against him with a shiver of anticipation. “You fought well.” The entertained tone was easy to place as he removed his paw from the other’s tail. If he was up for another fight, the wolf hadn’t sensed it. From what he could see, he had passed whatever test the omega had in mind. He nuzzled the top of the wolf’s head, taking in the inviting warmth and scent of his chosen mate for the evening. 

The king was patient, careful with the omega as he finally sought to indulge himself with a proper release for his pent-up needs. For as much as the night was for satisfying his more primal wants and needs, it was just as important to see his partner well taken care of in the process. By the time he was through with the other wolf, running away would be a near unthinkable act in the future. 

Viktor’s relief was near palpable as he regained his sense of self, no longer clouded by the lustful haze of the full moon. With reluctance, he recognized that it was time for him to be moving on; that there were other matters that now needed addressing. He removed himself from the omega, taking one brief moment to lick the scruff of his neck in an act of quiet gratitude. “Best of luck next time.” The alpha let out a soft growl, stalking back towards the forest to give the other wolf some time to rest in peace.

It was true that Finn had never experienced at mating before. The shiver that ran up his spine as soon as his mate grew close told him he would enjoy it. Though he had feared all his life the act of being taken by an alpha, he felt no reluctance now. No he invited it, enjoying the way the alpha’s scent filled the air as they prepared for their joining.

His parents had told him (with much chagrin) that alphas were meant to take what they needed, when they needed it. He, being an omega, would be forced to bend to their will. Finn was surprised to find that the other wolf took his time, and was more than patient with him. After a lifetime of hesitation he actually enjoyed his first mating. It was slow and both he and the alpha were able to fulfill their needs with the least amount of pain possible.

When he finally returned to himself, he was a little disappointed that it was over, Finn almost wanted to spend more time with this interesting alpha. He raises his head when he goes to leave, weary but fulfilled, you too big guy, try not to scare anymore omegas he jokes, watching the alpha disappear into the trees.

It’s only too late that he realizes, shit I should have asked for his name.

“Who said anything about mating with you?” Carina said with a devilish laugh. “While it is something that is alpha’s truly want… Some. That is not what I want currently.” The alpha woman lessen the distance between them, invading more of his personal space only to make him more uncomfortable. “But now you’ve mentioned it, perhaps I might be a little bit interested.” Her words were quiet and smooth, her breath blowing against his ear. 

Another stomach full laughed happened, and she put an end to her torment. “No no, little wolf. That is not what I want. Not even close to what I want actually. Though, I do want you, omega. Not for mating purposes.” She folded her arms in front of her, still eyeing him like she once was. “You’re without a pack. I have a pack. And a rather large and lovely one, too.”

He looks at her as if she’s grown two heads. Him? In a pack? Who on earth would want him in their pack? He’s just a scrawny omega. “Wow, okay. So ... you’re obviously still under the effects of the moon or else you wouldn’t be asking me that.” Finn shakes his head, “I mean, c’mon, I’m nothing really special. I don’t think I’m exactly pack material.”

He had never been offered to join a pack. Part of him wanted to say yes, to jump in head first with out thinking. That however wasn’t the smartest of plans, and Finn decided to see where this was going. If the alpha kept pressing he’d be able to get more information.
