Recently weâve seen an increase in the number of  Sirs, Doms and Masters.  (Oh My!) But where did this increase come from?  In a more traditional sense, these incoming D-Types could be submissives who have reached a level in their mentorship where they are able to explore being more dominate.  Sadly I donât think this is the reason. Â
WHY SO MANY DAMN DOMS?!?!
Iâm a dom, youâre a dom, weâre all noms! Â But letâs be honest, I feel there are a lot of D-types out there that may look at the life of your typical Poly Master & Slave dynamics. Â This is a dynamic where you have have the Master and a collection of slaves. Â With the use of amazing marketing, this type of dynamic can be found to be appealing to so many regardless if theyâre a dom or sub. Â
The downside is we see people copying a relationship and believing it to be the only way. Â I think what makes it worse, is when the relationship being copied isnât really the healthiest relationship. Â This can lead to doms (D-types) neglecting, mistreating, and abusing their submissives. Â Â
Yes. Â It sounds like a pretty simple concept. Â Someone is signing their life over to you, therefore, you should take responsibility for that life. Â Yet, from so many stories, some personal and some not, Doms are not taking that responsibility seriously. Â Dropping a sub with no reason and cutting them off completely with no closure is not acceptable. Â Abusing a submissive because you like to see them cry is not acceptable. Â Making a submissive participate in dangerous activities in order to have people made in your own image is not acceptable. Â
Doms, you need to do some research learn what it means to be a Dom. Â Talk to elders in the leather / BDSM/ and Kink communities. Â Read some great books that can help. Â Donât create an entire dynamic off of what you see one person doing on social media. Â Typically, they will only post the good things and you wonât get to see any of the mess that can take place behind the scenes.Â
Subs, do some research on the person who you are giving control to.  Donât fall for the pretty eyes or great smile.  Learn about them.  Ask other folks who they are as a person and as a dom.  Iâve made that mistake and fell into a dynamic with a âSirâ who dropped me and sent me on a long journey of rediscovering who I was as a person.  So subs, please GETâŠ.THOSEâŠ.REFERENCES.  Remember, YOU The Submissive, have the power in the dynamic.  You ultimately have the pick of who you want to give the power to.  You can speak up and say No.  Donât let some internet dom tell you otherwise. Â
