I am finally done. In the end I really enjoyed working in with said material in this unit. I always hated it when English classes never seemed to be aware of the internet, but this unit changed that for me.

Exploration 1

 For my exploration one on meme analysis I opted to create my own. My reasoning was because I had a lot of fantastic pictures to choose from. Of my choices I made one from a very old picture of my friend Paige Killborn from grade school. The source of this photo was from Facebook and people wonder why I don't have too many pictures on there. Anyways, the over rhetorical goal of this meme is a pun of the person's name in the photo; Paige and page. Get it? Its utilizing the visual message by providing a humorous page of the subject, then the text proceeds to establish a play on words using the subjects name. Finally, I believe the total effectiveness of this meme realize on the hope the person that sees the meme knows the subject. Regardless I believe memes are a great way to provide a humorist point visually and with.

Texting and Writing

I strong disagree with Michaelas point in the essay. texting isn’t slowing down the world and making our youth dumber. It’s a literary revolution! Texting is providing the people who do it with a new shorthand style. This provides students a fantastic new way to take notes during long lectures. Best of all, most students learn this style at a very young age. I believe that this generation is way smarter than past ones. We as a people half to adapt to survive. That includes technology.

Could the author of this piece has an extremist point of view?

Clive Thompson on the New Literacy

The author addressees how the new technology in pupils lives is not only increasing how many times kids write, but even how they write. He uses information gathered from a long hard study conducted by Luthsford under Stanford. This really reminds me of one of the TED talks I have seen in class. It it, the speaker jokingly said that texting was ruining the youth of america. Well besides texting and driving, the speaker reiterated the same information Thompson preached in his essay. Is Thompson's claim accurate considering he only talked about information from one study?
