Getting choked out will put things into perspective!
Several weeks ago I got some pretty bad news. Not only that but I was told there was no way to fix the problem while at the same time being encouraged to spend money exploring it by the same party that told me there was no way to fix it! This hit me pretty hard and my immediate reaction was to go home and lay in bed feeling bad for myself. Luckily for me, that day I had training at OMG MMA and felt guilty enough about having missed a couple of classes to drag myself in. I think it was pretty evident by the expression on my face that I was in a bad way so I just wanted to get through the session with minimal interaction or conversation. Fortunately the environment is infectious enough that I couldn’t help smiling to myself every time we ran by Rome during warm-ups and hear him make a joke. My distress must have showed because he diligently inquired what was wrong throughout the class and took time to roll with me and get my spirits up. Between doing the sport I love and at the same time getting the chance to hang out with some great training partners I pretty much forgot what I was upset about by the time class was over. In the end I was able to assess the situation with a clear head and come up with a solution rather than just get depressed and feel bad for myself. Moral of the story: when something bad happens to you go to training. Getting choked out will put things into perspective! -YN
