Fret birthday headcanons? yes

Fret would absolutely just focus on the fact that "HEY NEKU'S BIRTHDAY IS SOON OMG" instead of his own birthday. Which is perfect! because now everyone else can plan Fret's birthday party for him while he's so focused on Neku's, since THE LITERAL LEGEND HAS A BIRTHDAY! so he won't notice their preparations for his own bday.

During preparations for Neku's birthday everyone's just subtly like "Haha what would you like for your birthday if it was for you."

Shiki could probably manage to get him some unreleased hyped up fashion item, since he'd probably enjoy that. Neku's like "Well I dunno much about fashion and all that...but here." and its some "Fashion designing 101" book or whatever, he has no idea what he's doing, but he's trying his best. Nagi would buy him so much EleStra merch, its not even funny. She's like "I shall humbly gift you these, you must guard them with your life." and there's one of her custom made pins, and it makes Fret so happy. Rindo's like "I couldn't decide what to buy for you so I just bought everything I thought you might like...It was the only way for me to get out of the store, I was spending like, an hour there just looking over the options..." and Shoka just sighs "I was the one who told him to buy everything. And I spent money on them too, so consider these a gift from the both of us."

You could tell how popular Fret is based on the fact that just walking around he gets many people telling him happy birthday. Like he knows everyone, and he's very friendly.

Despite what people would think, for his birthday they didn't go out partying. I think he'd enjoy a quite movie night in, with all of his friends, watching his favorite movies.

For Neku's birthday, while Hanekoma's still in like, angel timeout, he makes a gift for Neku and yeets it from the sky and it'll just hit him on the face like "Happy Birthday Neku -Mr H"

So the Reaper Pins Neo right?

Kubo said that the Reaper Pins are given to alive people so that when they die, it'll automatically transfer them to the UG so they wont have to manually hand them out. Now, we all know that's a bold f*cking lie, since we find out later that: Hey, it does work that way, however, if there's someone with high Imagination, It'll grab them into the Game. Now here's the thing, I'm not sure how correct that is. Nagi mentions a little tidbit here: "a few other EleStraniacs mentioned falling on hard times after picking up pins of their own." So that's really interesting to me, that the pins bring about "bad luck" from what I can understand here. What if the Reaper Pins are just confused as f*ck. cuz like why is it being given to somebody whos ALIVE? So the pin is trying to fix that sh*t by influencing the environment into killing the person who's carrying the pin so that they will...join the UG, then it makes sense to the pin like "Aha everything makes sense now!" Something like that.

Its an interesting idea. Why else would the Reapers just hand it out manually beforehand, it doesn't make sense that they're the only ones who picked up on this efficient system.

I'd like to note that I haven't played the game in awhile, so if I got any information wrong, please correct me.

One of my funniest headcanons is like... Post canon Minamimoto is actually SCARED of Neku, like actively TERIFIED. The man ONE-SHOTTED HIM.

it's rlly funny to me like the Wicked Twisters are complaining "Minamimoto doesn't show up :("

Then Neku, immediately after the hang out, calls Joshua "Hey could I borrow Minamimoto for a day? I'll have a talk with him. If he wants to come with me, he'll come with me, okay?" and Joshua, thinking he already learned Neku's tricks, agrees! bc "Pfff Minamimoto wanting to go and socialize? as if." Neku goes in like "Hello (ya sh*t) I believe you owe my friends an apology." and proceeds to grab him by the hoodie and drags him.

Now Minamimoto's not actually resisting, bc if he resisted...ya know, there's no way Neku would be able to drag him. BUT HES AFRAID OF SAYING NO. HES VERY AFRAID.

He's just letting himself get dragged around by this person who's significantly shorter than him, it was a very entertaining sight. He just drags him out to hang with the Twisters, and adds him to their group chat.

Whenever Neku requests something, Minamimoto's the first to obey out of sheer fear, and I think that's very funny.

When Neku was gone for 3 years in Shinjuku, a lot of stuff happened. Beat and Shiki were both trying to look for him.

At the start, Shiki waited every single day, and, she didn't just visit once a day, she stayed the entire day by Hachiko. While Beat would not stop searching. Rhyme really snapped both of them into shape with a simple phrase: "Neku wouldn't want you to do this!" and so it became sort of a habit. Everytime one of the two partners, Beat and Shiki, would do something stupid, the other would respond "Neku wouldn't want you to do this." it's an immediate snap "No you're not allowed to. you can't can't this."

Beat wanted to quit school to be able to spend more time searching for Neku, but Shiki snapped him out of it: "Neku wouldn't want you to do this." she also thought of the idea of maybe, Beat helping Neku out, readjusting and learning certain material. That's what made Beat really cave in.

And Shiki and her business. She didn't want to start her business, because Neku's the reason she's even able to pursue it in the first place. Why she's even able to start this business with eri, to make her dream come true. But she wouldn't want to do it without Neku by her side. Beat snapped her out of it by saying "Neku wouldn't want you to do this, he would want you to keep moving forward. Imagine how pissed he'd be if he saw how much time you wasted." They've been saying that for awhile and after Neku comes back from Shinjuku, they STILL use it. Even when he's right there in the room. Beat would be doing something stupid and Shiki'd say "Neku wouldn't want you to do this!" and Neku's just sitting there in the corner like "...Yeah I don't want you to do this?"

No one really wants to explain to him how he's been this voice of responsibility and reason.

Both Beat and Shiki have an "inner Neku" because Neku's been gone for so long, they kinda tried to think "What would he think about this?" or "What would he say?" Because he wasn't there, and they didn't want to forget about him.

Shiki's inner Neku is more of a positive influence on her self image, about who she is. When she starts feeling insecure, she starts hearing Neku's voice saying "I like you the way you are."

Beat's inner Neku is telling him to be patient and reeling it in. In the game Beat told Rindo to, in his words, "Hol' up a sec," and to "take it nice 'n' slow." and I feel like thats Beat listening to his inner Neku.

It's basically just remembering things Neku told them. Keeping it in mind, and actively growing from what he's said.

Rhyme never needed to be told "Neku wouldn't want you to do this." because Rhyme's a responsible little child.

Me thinking about how Neku no longer know how to get around the city after three years...and how because Beat spent all this time in Shibuya looking for Neku, he knows how to get around..

Just image Beat post neo getting so excited to show Neku around the city and how things changed, while Neku's just like "Slow down Beat!" it would be just like in the first game's third week when Beat was dragging Neku around. hehehehe it would be so cute

Neku looked at his work, the skateboard looked back. Maybe this was too cheesy… It doesn't matter, he wanted to do this. After three years of not being able to tell his friends how much they mean to him, he wants to tell them. But he's not good with words, could never find the right ones.. Actions are the next best thing.

He took a breath and looked again, the skateboard's back was decorated with graffiti, Udagawa's CAT mural. Udagawa, the place where he was shot, and the place where he had saved Beat's life three years after meeting him. He hopes the meaning comes through, doing this was embarrassing enough. 

He's happy he went to the game, if he didn't, he wouldn't have met Beat or Shiki. Udagawa is a place of endings and beginnings for him. The graffiti there gives him hope that anything can happen, good or bad. 

Well, he guesses he has to give it to Beat now. He stalled for too long.

He took a breath, and got up. Hopefully Beat would like it.

How Neku's powers work

I'm assuming that his powers work similar to the game pacts. That's why he was able to have 3 pacts at once, Joshua Shiki and Beat, all activated at once against the Conductor.

What Neku basically did in order to get out of Shinjuku

Since Shibuya was getting closer to being inverted itself, it sort of made it easier when the two planes got closer to eachother. Shinjuku's stuck in a plane in between, or that's what we assume. It doesn't have a UG or RG, and yet it still exists. which means it's stuck in some other plane, a plane that doesn't exist consciously in the Rg. No "sixth sense" could sense it, only people who were in the UG before knew it existed before. Shibuya was getting close to that. because of that, the two planes were closer. And Neku could cross over easier.

The second thing that triggered it was Beat almost dying: Beat was close to erasure, the thing that happened to Shinjuku. So, it made the connection between Neku and the city, and Neku and Beat easier to grasp. Neku used that connection to pull the two planes close enough to eachother for him to follow through, that's why he was able to appear in the UG Shibuya, and why he appeared exactly in front of BEAT. if it wasn't for Beat, Neku couldn't have escaped. So I guess Beat's self sacrificial tendencies was good for SOMETHING. We don't tell him that tho.

Then, we know that Leo Cantus is weak to team attacks, or at the very least, the green light puck. he's only effected by someone who has the puck, which is why the Twisters attacks were completely powerless against him, they were useless. Neku knew that too, what Neku did was sync up with Minamimoto, sort of made a pact with him. Using Minamimoto's strength against him, because now in a pact, their strength is shared. Not only that but their emotions are also shared through the pact, or at the very least, their thoughts. Because as we know from the first game ds ver, Neku and his partners interacted with eachother despite being in separate planes (the duel screen) So they do have that connection of sharing emotions or thoughts.

That's why Neku was able to say "He's changed" about Minamimoto, he could sense that Minamimoto regretted hurting the Wicked Twisters because he cared about them. Neku used Minamimoto's strength, his own strength, and the strength of a team attack all together (which is you know, his weakness.) and that's what one shotted him, and how Neku could see he's changed.
