This is an environmental portrait of Tshepang, who is a singer at church. It was shot at kibler park. I was inspired to take this image because music has the power to change a person’s mood and I wanted to portray that in my image and capturing her at the moment I did does portray that. I love that the background is clean because it allows the viewer to pay attention to the mood of the image without being disturbed by other objects behind her. The lighting gives the image a warm to it. The technicalities of the image are as follows Shutter 1/60 ISO 800 Aperture F/4.5 Focal length of 105mm Flash was used Model is canon EOS 1300D
Photos by David Van Der Want
David Van Der want
David is a street photographer from cape town. He was born and raised in Johannesburg and he lived and worked in Cape town since 2001.
Not only is he a photographer but also a clinical psychologist in private practice in Cape town. He has been registered as a clinical psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa since January 1994. When he is not practicing psychotherapy he is found roaming the streets and park of Cape town with his camera.
Every couple of months he puts a slideshow of street photographs together to a sound track and showcase them to the world
What is appealing about David Van Der Want's photographs is his ability to use light, shadows and lines. Those aspects give his images a very strong feel to them and his ability to capture the moment is amazing, it gives life to his images.

Cedric Nzaka known as everyday people stories
Cedric was born and raised in Kenya and he is currently based in South Africa. He is from a family of four, he has three older brothers. He describes himself as a humanitarian, social documentary and landscape photographer with a particular interest in fashion and portrait photography.
He never studied photography he taught himself using his mother's camera at a young age. When he first came to South Africa, he came with the intend to study graphic design but he dropped out due to financial issues. When he dropped out he decided to get himself something that is close to his heart, which was photography and fashion and that was when everyday people stories was started. When he started everyday people stories he saw a gap in the fashion photography market.
He does a lot of portrait photography and it is rare to find him working in a studio. He says that he prefers working with Natura light; it challenges him by chasing light and blending it with his models.
What I like about Cedric is that he keeps originality to his images; he does not over edit his images. He does not portray his models as something they are not, what you see in the images is the way they are in real life.
His photographs do not only show the fashion of Johannesburg but it also shows its spirit. His images engage with the audience and the people he photographs are expressive, others stare straight into the lens and when viewing the images it's like they are staring you right in the eyes.
According to him, it's not the brand you are using that gives you a great image. He says that in order for you to get a great image you must look at your light, background and your overall environment.
