ONAGAWA days ISSUE03!

Welcoming Prince William - Cafe Cebolla in Onagawa
As Prince William walked through Kibo No Kane, the local shopping center, he was greeted by handmade signs like this one by Cafe Cebolla's Doga family. "He pointed and laughed at the sign!" says Ms. Doga, the owner and chef of the cafe serving lunch made with local seafood and other seasonal ingredients. Mr. Doga, the husband, is quite the artist; he drew this sign with crayons.
Be sure to stop by and check out this cute and cozy cafe when you are in Onagawa.

Prince William taking a tour of Onagawa
Prince William in Onagawa! He met and spoke with local business men and women. Here, he is seen taking a tour of the local shopping center, Kibo No Kane (Bell of Hope). We wonder what he had to say about the fun posters...if, someone was able to translate the punchline, that is.
Prince William to visit Onagawa
Prince William will be in Onagawa!
The duke of Cambridge, Prince William, is to visit Onagawa in the next few days. His tour of Japan begins today.
He will also visit the northeast region of the country devastated by a magnitude 9 earthquake and tsunami nearly four years ago. In Ishinomaki and Onagawa, The Duke will spend a morning meeting local people who were affected by the tsunami and hear how communities are rebuilding their lives and businesses with a strong sense of hope.

Recovery in Onagawa
Great piece by an New Zealand paper on recovery in Onagawa.
One line stands out:
Yet those we met were unbelievably positive about the future and staying in the town, despite losing family members in the most terrifying experience imaginable.
Onagawa, moving forward to a new future for the town.

Train in Onagawa, once again
On February 2nd, 2015, a diesel train running on the tracks was a welcome sight to the people of Onagawa. It was the first time in four years, ever since the day of the Eastern Japan Earthquake on March 11th, 2011.
The sound of the whistle blowing, heard throughout the town, brought many to near tears.
The track and the station, seen in the background, officially opens on March 21st; an opening ceremony and celebration will take place.
