TWs: Panic Attack, Mention of Injury, Slight Dissociation, Flashback
Theora continued speaking to the child, Marigold, who had shown up in Calliope's place. Or- Kairos assumed it was in Calliope's place... He could only hope they would be back soon.
The man glanced around to make sure there were no mobs sneaking up on them. He looked towards Feriman, who was fidgeting with xyr sword. The wound in his stomach ached, going from a dull, constant pain to an agonizing grasp on his heart.
Kairos felt his chest constrict; it was suffocating. The world around him blurred for a moment, it felt distant. He heard Theora and Marigold talking about something but couldn't make out the words over his racing heart in his ears.
He felt as if the trident had pierced his torso again, been ripped violently out of him, pulling him forwards with enough force to have him falling to his knees. Kairos fell forwards, clutching his stomach with one hand and keeping himself up with the other. He coughed up blood, coughing quickly turning into vomiting, while he attempted to breathe through sobs.
He could feel how She had held him together, refusing to let him die.
Kairos was snapped back into the present, Theora now in front of him. He blinked back tears as he backed up.
"I- I need to go- I- I'll be at the nest..-" Kairos ran off before waiting for a response, felt like his life depended on it. He ran until he got to the small cave he and Theora had decided to settle down in, stop stopping until he collapsed in the makeshift nest. He gasped for air, grabbing at his chest and stomach. He felt the unhealed wound through the bandages.
Why wasn't it healing yet?... It should be healed by now...
Kairos sobbed. He sobbed for the person who hurt him. It felt like he was being suffocated, unable to get air into his lungs. Pain pulsed through his body as he dug his fingers deep into his sides, trying to focus on anything else. Anything to get the image of that smile out of his head... Xe smiled while stabbing him.
His nails ripped through the bandages and into his sides, fuck- he'll have to actually change his bandages now... He doesn't remember the last time he changed them.
Kairos attempted to stand, but his legs gave out underneath him. He curled up in the corner of the nest and cried himself to sleep.
The image of that smile haunts him.
