THE LAB: DECOY - A portrait session with a twist Back in 2009 I travelled with Invisible Children to Gulu, Northern Uganda as an Intern I’ll never forget what my guide told me about photography in Africa. He insisted that our group only take photos of the positives that we see; not the negatives, as this has shaped peoples perspectives of the continent. Although it’d be ignorant not to identify that there are issues, but it is also perhaps moreso to not see the many positives. This short film from Canon reminded me of this trip and how our views of others influences our photography and its influence of others. Cheers, Chad

This is a picture of my Croatian buddy "Dino" and I. Our day started leaving our amazing couchsurfing host family in Coimbra, Portugal. With over 4 hours of no success at the start of the expressway, we finally got picked up by a guy who drove us about 20kms out of town. We then got picked up within 10mins by a rad dude called Nuno who drove for about an hour, gave us some grapes, dropped us at the station just outside of Porto and gave us €5 to get the train to the main station in Porto. {Book Review) Mike Flynt – The Power Based Life

Are you after some life motivation and mentoring? Are you wanting to get out of that rut you’re stuck in and looking for a break through? Mike Flynt’s “The Power Based Life – Realize Your Life’s Goals and Dreams by Strengthening your Body, Mind, and Spirit” might just be for you then. Mike Flynt is a strength and conditioning coach from the USA specialising in college American football. The crazy thing about this guy is at the age of 59 he returned to football and qualified as line-backer for an elite college football team. I’m an Aussie, so not even remotely interested in American Football (you should look up “real” football; AFL) but this book really struck a chord with me. Mike gives a stack of guidance for your own goals that you want to achieve; providing stories of his own journey from a failed college athlete to becoming one of the oldest college football players.

Regardless of your interest in American Football or sports for that matter – I’m sure most people looking for some inspiration and guidance on goal setting along with some scripture will find this book encouraging.

{Book Review} Max Lucado - Max on Life

As if two reviews weren’t enough - It’s now time for round 3 of my Max Lucado reading binge. The lovely people at BookLook gave me a copy of the prominent authors latest release “Max on Life” to review.

I’ll be honest; I was actually given the book YEARS ago – I’ve been travelling about the place for the past few years so I’ll try to summarise to the best of my memory as my book is in Australia and I’m now living in England.

It’s different from the last couple of Lucado’s books that I’ve read in that it is a book of questions from his readers with short and encouraging responses backed up with pieces of scripture. If you’re struggling with your faith and/or just want a bit of encouragement that Lucado seems to be a natural at it is a great point of reference. That being said; it’s more of a gift book than an extensive topical book.

As with all the Lucado books I have read so far, I enjoyed it and would be a good introduction for a first timer of Lucado’s writing. However, if you’re after a book with detailed answers covering one or two of the deeper topical questions around Christianity this probably isn’t for you.
