So um, guess who just hopelessly fell in love with a fictional character, even going as far as to ship their self insert OC to interact with them, only for them come across the most spoilery of spoilers while looking for art references of said character and proceeds to cry for a good minute or two before swearing off any interaction of said media after a certain point of the timeline?

I think my friends accidentally made Leona my second favorite Twst character?? Let me explain.

A way I express my love for my friends is by learning their favorite things and just analyzing the shit outta those things to understand them, so I know what they’re talking about when they yap to me about them. I usually only do this with shared interests tho— since it’s just easier than picking up a whole new game for one singular character. (It’s harder for me to pick up up a game if there’s not a hyperfixation behind it)

Anyway, I have a few friends whose favorite character from twst is Leona. And since one of those friends is the one who introduced me to game in the first place (and my best friend in the whole wide universe), I felt kinda obvious that I look into his character a lil and try to level up some of his cards for the vignettes and whatever. Once I started developing Jochi (my Savanaclaw OC) it felt even more obvious to dive deeper into Leona’s character since I need to make sure Jochi hates on him correctly.

But now?… I lowkey get excited when I see that man on screen. No where near as close as when I see Jamil (no one can outshine him)— but I like reading what he has to say. The dry humor, his small snippets of snark and hidden wisdom? They’re genuinely interesting to me. Maybe it’s because I like to think of my friends’ reactions when they see him, or maybe it’s because i unknowingly relate to his personality?? Who knows! But all I know for sure, is that Leona is taken and thy I’m not allowed to simp for him lmao.

I need more Jester centric works in media. Fanfics, comics, audios, I’ll take anything that isnt the same stupid mommy joke, or just plain smut. I want character studies, interactions with the other circus members, speculations of his trauma— literally anything. im begging you people, he’s so so so so so so interesting to me, and I just want to dissect him bit by bit. …I would write it myself, but I fear I’d get his character incorrect. I know I could get more answers from the q&a, but for whatever reason ive been hesitant to get into it. Maybe it’s the daunting feeling of having to catch up with so much lore?? Or im just scared of the type of questions being asked (cause let’s be honest this fandom has no filter and it scares me)?? Either or, i just need someone to take the first step for me so I can maybe try and follow.

How do yknow when you love your DND Character(s)/OCs too much? When you spend literally YEARS with your best friend developing their backstory, making and remaking their designs? When you have entire playlists dedicated to them, and vividly daydreaming animatics you’re never gonna make to that playlist? When you’re making that character siblings and parents, and then developing those characters to the point they can stand on their own in the non existent written narrative? When you’re developing a sense of style and aesthetic completely based off your character because you want to embody them as much as possible? When you’re becoming attached to certain types of imagery you use when writing about said characters, and now you use that specific type of imagery for literally ALL your characters? When you become attached to certain characters in media because they remind you of your own character, and in extension, yourself???

Or is it the moment you realize you’ve put way too much effort into rendering the sketch of a secondary character you made for your little blorbo, and that you have to do that shit AGAIN for the more detailed SECONDARY DESIGN of that SECONDARY CHARACTER WHO ISNT EVEN GOING TO BE APART OF ANY CAMPAIGN, EVER, AND WAS MADE PURELY BECAUSE YOU LOVE A CERTAIN VIDEO CHARACTER WAYYYY TO MUCH???

I too have now experienced this. I too love a character and their story so freaking much that I literally NEED to have them into my own ONE WAY OR ANOTHER! Will someone who is familiar with the character easily spot them in my story? Abso-friken- lutly! Do I care? HECK NO ITS MY STORY B- AND I CAN DO WHAT I WANT!
