Face it. Stolas just flat out forgetting about Via's existence in Mastermind is better then him being fully aware of what would happen to her.

Not only that but knowing what we know about Stolas that's almost definitely what happened.

Yeah he didn't have a lot of time to think of a plan, but that doesn't mean that he went with the most reasonable, sane option, and importantly, not the option a father in his situation would take.

Interrupt the execution, confess to what he did, get on his knees, and beg for forgiveness. THAT'S what a father who would want to ensure his daughter doesn't get forced into the life he desperately wants to escape from would do.

What he ended up doing is nearly nonsensical though. His little "I AM THE REAL MASTERMIND" bit basically was guaranteed to piss off Satan because it was blatantly defying his authority. Obviously Satan would get pissed and make an example of him. Being executed here would be a fitting end for the lead in a tragic romance. That's what Stolas saw himself as in this moment. And that's what Stolas's soap opera rotted, romance novel poisoned brain wanted. He wanted a grand, final romantic gesture.

Stolas has been living in a fantasy romance novel he has had in his head for the entire year. He has occasionally been shook out of it but he always fell back into it. Mastermind though hit him hard enough that he seems to be permanently shaken out of it. That's why he's so upset at the end despite apparently being ready to die to save Blitz. He put his head on the chopping block to get his dark romance ending but that isn't what he got, and now he's been smacked back into reality.

This makes Stolas just as selfish as he is selfless, this showcases his flaws as much as it does it's positive attributes, and yes. This shows he didn't go in as a father that remembered he needs to go home to his daughter. He made the morally correct choice he didn't think how this could negatively affect his daughter, not about how it would negatively affect her mentally nor that it would mean that Via would be forced into marriage where she's forced to conceive a child just like how he was. He didn't think about how his actions would make Via have to be the one who will be "just lying there, staring at the wall when her husband does everything."

But him knowing that going into this? That would be the behavior of a terrible father. Stolas isn't a terrible father. He's occasionally stupid, he's got telenovela brainrot, but he loves Via way too much for him to do this consciously. A Stolas who remembered Via would never in a million years let himself be killed and risk her being forced into his place.

All he saw that day was, all he wanted that day was a romantic, grand, final romantic gesture. But all he saw after was what he lost. He's finally seeing the big picture but unfortunately it was too little too late

Even Via and Loona's levels of maturity are direct foils to eachother.

At the start of the show Via is pretty mature for her age. She doesn't shut her father out completely and trusts him enough to listen when he or even a complete stranger tells her he cares. She more then willing to let Stolas *in*. Her biggest fault is that she tries to shut out the world with her headphones but even then she responds when people speak to her and she isn't shutting everything out 24/7. She doesn't act like a typical 17 year old, her maturity at the start is more common with adults in their very early 20s.

Take the Loo Loo Land episode, Most 17 year olds wouldnt even entertain going on a daddy daughter day. Let alone TALK about exactly what she was scared of or even let her dad attempt to explain themselves. If a 17 year old with a normal level of maturity was woken up to their mom screaming about her dad cheating they'd either completely ignore their dad when he tried to talk to them or just tell him off and leave, because with the knowledge of the situation that Via possess it's a cut and dry case of Stolas being the one at fault. However despite the fact that Via even says that "HE" made her home not feel like home anymore, Via still actually tried to communicate with Stolas. Yes she ran off at the robo Fizz show but most ADULTS would have called it quits sooner.

Most teens also wouldn’t have so quickly forgiven their dads after a fuck up like Seeing Stars. Via's response was less mature in the beginning of the episode though arguably not completely out of pocket for a 17 year old, but her ability to listen to Loona and understand that Stolas does care is a mature response for a 17 year old. That's a mature response for most youngadults let alone a 17 year old.

But by Sinsmas Via's almost regressed, her maturity from Loo Loo Land has been worn down considerably and she doesn't have the patience to listen to Stolas nor the level of trust needed to for her to keep forgiving Stolas. Stolas's constantly fucking up with her ended up making Via regress.

Conversely with Loona, during the start of show she was incredible IMMATURE for her age. She's 22 but she refuses to talk to Blitz about her problems and only pushes him away. Whenever Blitz tries to insert himself into her business she either yells at him and tells him off at best and at worst flat out assaults him. Her maturity is closer to that of a highschooler with severe anger management issues. She spend a large amount of time trying to keep Blitz *out*.

The most likely reason for this is because of how she was raised. Her life in the pound made it necessary to keep people at arms length. Once she got out though her maturity seemed to have stalled. Likely a result of her being in a safe place but still always in fight or... fight mode.

But over the course of the show Loona matures. The Loona in Seeing Stars isn't the Loona from Spring Broken. The Loona in Spring Broken says that Blitz isn't even her real dad. The Loona from Seeing Stars DOES see Blitz as her real dad but wouldn't let him know it. And then in Mastermind Loona calls him her dad to his face. TWICE. She's grown considerably when compared to how she started.

Both Loona and Via are finally acting their ages now due to their fathers behavior. And that's good for one of them and ONLY one of then.

I know Blitz is a foul-mouthed mess who makes bad interpersonal decisions and stalks his employees etc but I also love how he does in fact have a lot of his shit together?

He DOES own and run his own business, they even have pension funds. His apartment might be run down but it's clean and tidy and decorated with pictures of his loved ones. He can cook and clean (look me in the eye and tell me Loona has ever done chores. His bald ass is probably cleaning fur and feathers out of the bath drain now). He has a calendar he writes future plans into and keeps on top of appointments. He's sooooo patient as a dad with Loona and went to pick her up from a party no questions asked even after having a terrible night. He's extremely competent at his actual job which must require regular exercise and training.
