Everyone in the world has just one person who is perfect for them in every way. They were made for each other, born loving each other, destined to die loving each other…that is, if they ever find each other. Welcome to One Red Thread, A Glee Soul Mates...
I haven’t made a post yet because I don’t think I have the words to describe how much this group and everyone has meant to me. While we have had our activity lulls in the past, I think it’s safe to say that this is more than just a lull so I’ve decided to close ORT.
This was the first roleplay I managed to start and continue to run single-handedly and we made it almost a year, with many of you here since the beginning or very nearly the beginning. I love every character I watched you bring to life, or canon characters you all brought your own special touch to portray in a unique environment. This group was a pipe dream for years and I never imagined the reality would be as amazing as it was. You all mean so much to me and if you’re not already following me on my RP blog, I’d be happy to provide it for you. And please feel welcome to post yours in the OOC so we can all stay in touch!! Because the worst thing about this group coming to an end would be losing contact with everyone who I love so much.
Thank you so much everyone, seeing One Red Thread so successful for so long made me happier than I can possibly express. If any of your still want to 1x1 your ships that involve my original characters, I’d have no problem with that. I trust them in your capable hands completely.
I miss you guys! I may be able to come back soon as long as you guys don't mind me being mobile pretty much all of the time. :/ Unfortunately I still can't cut posts on there.
Please, Jackie, we love you and we wouldn’t mind at all. As long as you’re around, we’ll be here for you!!!
✖ Marie Clover has not met her soul mate.
✖ She is single.
✖ Her best friend is Bree Hays
✖ Her enemy is Raya Anderson.
About:
Plans don’t always pan out the way you hoped, a lesson Marie learned at a young age. Despite carrying herself like an adult, Marie is acutely aware of her youth. She’s prone to over-exertion, whether it’s running over dance routines past the point of exhaustion or staying on the golf course until sundown. It’s self-inflicted pressure that makes her strive for perfection. Like many Westerville residents, Marie’s father is a lawyer while her mother has been a housewife for most of Marie’s life. Marie is the oldest of five, her own birth an accident that effectively ended her mother’s burgeoning dance career at the age of 20. Her mother had just become an apprentice at the American Ballet Theatre when she found out she was pregnant. Although her mother was forced to give up her dreams in order to care for Marie, her father was determined to finish out his education at Columbia. Her parents’ relationship has thought her a lot. Even the most intelligent and careful people can make mistakes. And it’s possible to make the best of life’s biggest hurdles. Most importantly, she’s seen how powerful the love between two non-soul mates can be.
Marie has never been in any rush to meet her soul mate and she almost thinks this attitude is what’s prevented them from crossing paths. She’s certain that for most of their lives, they’ve been in the same city. It’s simply been a part of her life since she got her first letter -- feeling the two of them getting closer and closer only to have the tug suddenly grow stronger once again. Sometimes it gives her a headache. Marie fell for Vance as naturally as her mother must have fallen for her father. But unlike her parents, there was no happy ending for Marie and Vance. Despite dedicating so much time and love to their relationship, she ultimately realised that her feelings weren’t reciprocated with the same intensity. Of course she doesn’t blame her ex, but...sometimes she thinks it’s better to avoid him, even if in her heart he’s still one of her best friends.
Marie may seem like she’s very focused on herself, and this isn’t untrue, but she does a lot for the people she cares about. Part of why she’s so determined to go to Joffrey is to make her mother proud. As much as both of her parents insist that her birth was nothing but a blessing, she can’t help feeling guilty. She wants the dance career her mother was never able to have, in no small part thanks to Marie herself. Her parents have never managed to get things to go as expected when it came to raising a family, but they’ve masted the art of making the best of every situation. After Marie and her oldest brother were born, her parents decided a third and final child would be manageable. Miraculously, Odette Clover gave birth to triplets, who would prove to be a handful only nannies could assist with. Despite the age difference between Marie and all of her siblings, her family is more close-knit than anyone would have thought possible. Now that the Clover household is nanniless, Marie lives at home to help look after her youngest siblings. Considering how chaotic her life often is, the P on her wrist is the farthest thing from her mind.
Relationships Explained:
BREE HAYS: Although Marie and Bree haven’t gone to the same school or even lived in the same city for years, Marie finds herself thinking of Bree as her best friend time and time again. She knows that Bree can be harsh and downright nasty, but she’s so much less over Skype calls and text messages. In some ways, Marie thinks that the distance is what keeps their friendship so strong. She’s certain that she knows Bree in a way that nobody else does and it’s this person who she calls her closest friend.
RAYA ANDERSON: There’s no dramatic story, because Marie isn’t into dramatics or starting fights. It just seems that the two of them don’t get along -- or rather, they’re always trying to prove that they’re better than the other. Marie isn’t interested in constant drama, but if Raya is in her way, then she’ll try her best to take her down and out do her. They’re not really enemies, more like academic rivals.
I’m hard at work on what I think are some VERY EXCITING new bios for both canons and non-canons!! While I’m definitely going to be posting these new characters, I also think it’s important to get some more of the old ones taken, and to make sure that those taken are played to their full advantage. So along that vein, the following roles will be reopened in 24 hours if inactivity continues. Inactivity here means more than five days without posting--and in these cases, there has been months of inactivity. Please don’t be afraid to ask for a hiatus when one is needed! Feel free to send the main a message if you believe this to be a mistake or would like to keep your role.
Are you ready for a fun Thanksgiving morning announcement? Of course you are! Last year, Ohio’s glee club Sectionals were on Thanksgiving. This year, Sectionals will be Saturday, November 30th, 2013. In real time, that gives you four days to prepare any chats, self-paras etc you may want to do for the big day. Since this isn’t the TV show, there won’t be any convenient reason why the New Directions win. To be completely unbiased, I am going to flip a coin to determine who wins Sectionals, best two out of three.
So...may the odds be ever in your favour?
Welcome to One Red Thread, Megan! Yells for a long time. Also catches you/stops bus with my barehands. I love that you’re weak for my bios, it’s like my superpower. It’s weirdly hard to talk about an app but you loved all of it so much. Your description of Keith and how that shone through in the writing sample was perfect – and I laughed at his article title, not gonna lie. I seriously enjoyed your sample so much, it explored not only who Keith is but how his job and Flynn’s can intersect sometimes and it showed your understanding of how the soul mate thing works, so?!?! Amazing???
Please send in the account for Keith as soon as possible and look here for what you should do next.
NAME/ALIAS: [trips] [falls down] [is hit by a bus] it’s still megan
AGE: 23
PREFERRED PRONOUN: she/her
TIMEZONE: EST
CHARACTER NAME: Keith Parsons
SECOND DESIRED CHARACTER: Regan Wood
LEVEL OF ACTIVITY: ……… hah….. haha…………. no i’m kidding. these next few days are going to be crazy because hectic #retailproblems, but i’m almost done with this semester, and after that, i should be relatively active, like around 6-7/10.
HOW YOU FOUND US: long story short, i was a part of the group for like 12 seconds a while ago, but i’m always weak for any bios that rowan writes and idk i was looking in the bio rp tag or something and THERE IT WAS I CANNOT RESIST.
DESCRIBE THE CHARACTER:
Keith is a perfectionist at heart - and yes, it’s perfectionist, not neurotic or anal retentive as some people would like to describe him, thank you very much. He craves order and success, and loves being right. He’s always had high hopes for himself, even as an adolescent scribbling away in the journals his teachers would have him keep. As he grew older, he just started to work harder, and he was praised more and more for his work ethic - which he believed. When he got the position as an intern at Vogue, he knew it was because he was damn good at what he does. Because the people around him don’t hold the same work ethic that he does, he looks down upon them, and isn’t afraid to share his opinions, no matter how brash they might be.
It’s not like he was always like that, he reminds himself. But being bullied for a good period of time in high school has made his super critical of everyone, though, automatically assuming the worst intentions. The only person that he knows he can trust is Bridie, and without her, he’d be lost. He wanted to be able to love her, because she makes him happy like no one else really can - and he tried to convince himself that he could, or he could at least pretend to. It’d be easier for both of them, he thought. But he wasn’t that selfish, and where he wouldn’t care about someone else’s feelings, Bridie’s were the only ones who mattered. One afternoon, what started out with him trying to break up with her eventually led to the entire truth coming out.
He doesn’t acclimate to change well, and anytime he has the plans pulled out from underneath him, his first instinct is frustration. Anything that poses the chance to detract from his path that he’s on is automatically a bad thing, in his eyes. He doesn’t have time for it, because with every second that passes and he’s focused on something else, he’s not focused on getting to where he wants to be. He can relax when he’s successful, he can sleep when he’s dead. Perhaps this is exactly why he’s so hesitant in trying to find his soulmate. Nothing good can come from it, and it only poses the risk of pulling him further and further away from where he wants to be.
Being gay isn’t something he’s necessarily ashamed of - on a certain level. He came out to his parents earlier in the year, so it’s not like it’s a difficult thing for him to talk about - it’s just that he doesn’t want that to define him. He wants to be seen as Keith and be valued for his talents, and in a society as well as a workplace that seems to romanticize the idea of being gay, he tends to avoid bringing it up. It’s annoying, though. Watching Kurt Hummel be able to be who he is without any worries of people criticizing what he has to say or the opinions he holds. Keith can’t stand him - and it’s not jealousy.
SAMPLE WRITING:
He yawns inelegantly, checking his watch for what must’ve been the fifth time since he’d arrived about twenty minutes ago. This is by far the dumbest assignment that they’ve given him, and he still is annoyed that he ended up having to cover this versus Hummel - because he’s one of the fashion editors, isn’t this what they pay him for? He should be the one attending Fashion Week today, not him.
It’s not like Keith doesn’t know anything about fashion, considering that he’s involved in the world of modeling by association, and he likes to think he has some sense of style, but what in the world is he going to write about people walking up and down a runway? Laughing under his breath, he scribbles down on his paper - ‘Person Wears Clothes, Everyone is Impressed’. A great headline for an even better article. Too bad the subject isn’t all that good.
People are still finding their way to their seats, models are making their way backstage - it’s chaotic and crowded in the building, which is why he’s glad that he’s already found his seat, notebook on his lap while he writes down some loosehand notes of the environment.
Until, he feels that, and almost falls out of his chair.
The subtle whisper of tugging on his wrist that he feels every now and then has erupted into an all out pull.
Keith stops writing, eyes completely focused on the page and not daring himself to even shift his head or look up. He’s not going to see them, this isn’t happening, not now. He flexes his hand into a fist, as if he could rid himself of the feeling, but the pen shakes in his hand, creating smears of ink along the edge of the page, before it clatters of the paper and rolls onto the floor.
He quickly makes a move to grab the pen and the notebook, before darting from his chair and heading towards the exit, eyes looking only at the ground as he pushes his way through the crowds of people.
It’s only once he’s back outside that the tug on his wrist dies down, and he stands there for a moment, knowing he needs to go back inside to write the damn article. But he can’t. He knows as soon as he does, the pull will come back, and they’re going to find him. Unfortunately, he doesn’t want to meet them.
Keith takes a deep breath, before slowly dropping his notebook and pen into his leather bag, and taking a step in the opposite direction, away from the building.
He always hands his assignments in early. This is the first one he doesn’t hand in at all, and the look of disappointment and displeasure on his boss’ face is enough to make him cringe.
God, he really fucking hates his soulmate.

Welcome once again to One Red Thread, Val! I love Margot a lot and I know you’re going to play her amazingly well. Your description is wonderful, for starters. Everything you’ve established sounds great to me and I can’t wait to see where she goes from here. Even without a Regan, I think you can do a lot with that dynamic, but I hope we get one soon! Your writing sample made me so sad but in a good way?! I appreciate all of the thought that went into your application so much and I’m looking forward to interacting with your Margot!
Please send in the account for Margot as soon as possible and look here for what you should do next.
NAME/ALIAS: Val
AGE: 21
PREFERRED PRONOUN: She/Her
TIMEZONE: PST
CHARACTER NAME: Margot Flemming
SECOND DESIRED CHARACTER: Jane Hayward
LEVEL OF ACTIVITY: As soon as finals are over I’ll be on about 8/10, right now I’m a 5/10 bUT I keep up I think??
HOW YOU FOUND US: I’m Beck ehehe
DESCRIBE THE CHARACTER:
Margot finds inspiration for her art in everything there is to see, taste, hear and touch, that’s why she thinks LA is the perfect city for an artist, everywhere you look there’s something that can inspire you, the people, the beaches, the buildings, the streets and the diversity of it all make Margot feel like she’s living in the place where she should be.
Being Regan’s friend has taught her to deal with all kinds of people, she’ll never be purposefully rude, but she’s learned that saying no is okay, that sometimes you have to hurt someone else’s feelings to protect yours and the feelings of people you care about the most.
Regan’s fame has made her a little wary of the people she interacts with, she has to make sure they’re not looking to get some information or benefit out of her that would be harmful for her best friend, she tends to put Regan’s safety over everything, because she know the life of a recognized actress isn’t safe and her best friend’s private life should be kept that way, something she’ll do anything to protect.
Being smart, Margot started learning languages since she was little, other than English she’s fluent in Spanish, French and Portuguese. She knows this will be of great advantage once her career as an artist takes off, which she’s hoping happens because of her efforts and not just because she’s Regan Wood’s best friend, she doesn’t mind being called that, but she expects people to know her name that well some day, too. She dreams of traveling the world, of getting to see with her own eyes and in person the art that she grew up loving. Van Gogh, Dalí, Monet, Da Vinci and so many artists whose work she’s grown to love and admire through the years.
Mainly she focuses on Photography and Painting, her apartment is usually a mess of canvas, half finished paintings, camera rolls and SD Cards along with every kind of materials that she buys or picks up on the streets to make her own sculptures or pieces, it’s not weird to see her fingers stained with some color, find some paint on her hair or on her clothes, and she’s never out without her camera and her sketchbook.
Margot currently works at the Museum of Contemporary Art in LA, as a research assistant along with attending school and trying to not forget about her own projects, trying to get her name out there, always trying to make her work known, any way she can do it.
SAMPLE WRITING:
Having to deal with Regan’s fans was getting a little tiring for Margot. When the two of them were together, she often forgot all about her best friend’s fame, they were just them, best friends for so many years even before all this madness started happening, but suddenly one day Regan was being invited to all these events, filled with glamour and cameras and people that Margot had heard about her whole life, and she was being dragged into it all too, as Regan’s support system, her plus one in many events, people had started talking about her, too, had started recognized her on the streets and she’d tried being nice, she had, had never wanted to start hurting people’s feelings, but people could get out of line at times as well, and she knew she had to start caring about her feelings too.
Tonight’s date was going perfect, or so she’d thought. The guy she had bumped into at a coffee shop she frequented was nice, he was handsome and had made her laugh through the night, something that was important to her. He’d seemed interested in her, in what she did for a living and didn’t even blink an eye when she’d told him she was an artist, that that was what she saw herself doing in the future and she’d seen something growing in this date… until she reciprocated.
She knew it was coming the moment he told her he was an actor. Please, don’t. Please don’t ask it. Her face had stayed in a smile as she listened to him carefully, her finger moving around the edge of the glass where her drink was served, bubbles popping and leaving tiny wet spots against her long finger and suddenly, there it was; “You know, I’ve seen you hanging with Regan Wood, I mean, in red carpets and all that. Do you think she could ever take a look at my head shots? Maybe show them to some-”
It didn’t take more than that for her to know what she had to do. Her smile had become tight and she swallowed down the rest of her drink, looking away from his date while she took out a couple bills which she placed on the table, meeting the guy’s surprised and confused look when she pushed the money towards him. “You could have told me from the beginning that’s what you wanted, wouldn’t have had to go through all this trouble just to get me to reject your offer of being your personal messenger and manager for free.“
She didn’t mean to be mean, but she hated situations like this so much, she hated having her expectations crushed like this. Standing up she gave him another tight smile. “I don’t talk about work with Regan. She does her job, I do mine and when we see each other, we forget about it and enjoy our friendship. You should see who you could hire to get your face out there but don’t- just don’t call me again, alright? Good luck…”
It was hard to leave yet another “date” like that. It was hard to accept that she needed to get better at seeing people’s true intentions, it was then when she decided that maybe the dating scene just wasn’t for her. She had other things to worry about, to work on, and as she walked away from that last date with a random stranger that came up to her on the streets, she knew that her sights should be set higher, and set on things that really mattered. Her career, her art, and the people who already loved her and not because she was a famous actress’s best friend.
