I made the mistake of, while letting the sealant I had used on my painting dry outside, leaving the sliding glass door open so I could air out the house cause unfortunately the sealant spray I used, while outside, wafted inside. And while leaving the door open, watching it closely because CAT, said CAT, the Mothball, stuck her nose outside. She seemed pretty cautious but curious so I let her stick her paws out and have a good sniff, watching her the whole time because she is too dumb be left alone especially near the outdoors where there are cars and awful people. So I just supervised. And then she started creeping out further. So I picked her up and held her, cause I needed the door to stay open to clear out the air in the house for a bit longer, and just kinda walked a little bit out of the house to let her look around a bit more while keeping a FIRM GRIP ON HER cause I did not have her harness and didn't want her to get frightened and bold. And she seemed to be doing perfectly fine, just curious, sniffing everything, watching the planes fly overhead, chirp at the birds, never made any motion like she was gonna bolt or anything, kinda gripped onto me in turn like "don't put me down! outside is scary!" and after about ten minutes of fresh air, I brought her back inside.
BIG. FUCKING. MISTAKE. She spent the next half hour screeching at me to open the door again! She'd pace in front of the door, run to me, scream, run back to the door, bap pitifully at it with her paws, like "Uncle! I want outside! Outside NOW! Lemme back out!" And was inconsolable unless I cracked the door open for her to sniff and even then she was just pressed up against that door inhaling like it was crack or something, occasionally pausing to look up at me and voice her immense displeasure of not being allowed any further outside like, girl I do not know where your harness is and your mum's not home! If anything happens to you, she will KILL ME! (If i don't die immediately of immense guilt) You're not going back out there!
She only stopped once her mum was home and actively holding her and consoling her like "Yeah, I know, big outdoors, you want to go explore, I know it's so fun, but we lost your harness and you're not allowed out just yet!" the poor thing.
