Iāve tried to write this a lot and failed every time. Writing this feels over the top but itās been a really long time so allow me some indulgence.Ā
After 9 years I decided back in February that the last 176 Records show would be in September. Thereās a number of reasons for this, which I wonāt fully go in to, but Iāve struggled time wise over the last few years (as can be seen earlier in this blog where I said I was going to discuss previous shows) especially with having to take time off in order to put on a gig. This is a small part of the thought process behind ending this but life moves on and itās time for me to bow out.Ā
Iāve met some of the best people in the world through doing this and I am coming out of the other side with a family that spreads across the world that I love more than than I am ever able to articulate.Ā
Iāve been able to do some things through 176 that I never thought I would be able to do, just look at all the strangers Iāve had conversations with! Iāve been thinking a lot recently about the way that I have seen out scene change, and whilst it has changed a lot, I have also changed a lot. I used to gloss over every time someone asked me where the guy putting on the show was, or every time I got asked which band member I was there with, never wanting to correct people whilst seething inside. Thereās a lot of incredible strong women in our scene who have helped me be vocal, which has positively impacted every single aspect of my life.Ā
Thank you to everyone who has put up with me, listened to me moaning, told me to stop stressing (even if I have never listened to this) - I am eternally grateful, especially to everyone who has sat on the door for me when Iāve needed go to for a wee.Ā
Biggest thank you to Greg OāGrady who has made 176 look so much better than I ever could. When I first met Greg I was finding pictures of animals on Google and adding some text, whilst I thought this was good enough Greg didnāt so he rudely, without me asking, designed a poster for the RVIVR show I had coming up telling me I was no longer allowed to use the stag poster I had expertly created. Stan the stag forever.
Iām sorry if youāve read all of that, livejournal 2016.Ā
ILY
