Tomorrow I take the plane back home. I can say I've had a wonderful trip; London was as expected, beautiful and lively. I met a few very friendly locals by way of r/londonsocialclub and was happy to play board games with some and attend a Rock-A-Oke (karaoke with a live rock band to back you up) with others. I had a blast, and definitely think this concept needs to make its way to Montreal. Besides people, I saw a ton; the Transport Museum, the Tower of London, the Design Museum, the Globe Theater, London Zoo, the Warner Bros Harry Potter movie set tour, the Sherlock Holmes Museum, the Tate Museum, the Brand and Packaging Museum, the Alternative London Street Art tour, and I took a boat ride on the Thames. Belgium was a short stay, but of the two places, held the most adventures for me. Not only is their train system terribly non-informative, but their streets are a hell of uneven angles and disjointed sidewalks. I visited Ghent, a medieval city much like Bruges, but less touristy. Ghent is on the Flemmish side of Belgium and as such, the main language of work, signs and conversation is Flemmish. Needless to say it was a bit of a stressful culture shock as I tried to navigate the train and tram system in another language, but I survived, and even managed to visit a cool castle (Chateau des Comtes). On my third day in Belgium I visited the city of Mons, where I got tattooed by a fabulous artist from La Main Bleue studio, Alex. I sat in his chair for five hours and laughed, seethed and cried from the pain, but ultimately ended up with a fabulous piece. My tattoo is only partly done, but Alex is so eager to finish it, he's promised me he'll be visiting Canada within the next year to colour it in completely. As exciting as travelling is, I miss my city and my people. Looking forward to coming back.
