#10 Ya it’s Yabu

I would always and forever say Yes to Yabu. It has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I made so many memories here, and I always come back to this place either with my family, barkada or with someone special. So I want to share to you how Yabu became a part of my life.

This house of Katsu captured me with their chicken katsu and unlimited side dish. They serve unlimited rice, too! It is price around Php 215-300. For me, with that amount of serving, it’s price is justifiable. They also have approachable servers where they also accommodate you even if they have a bunch of customers. I always eat at their branch in 2F Glorietta 5 but you can find them in SM Megamall, Robinsons Magnolia, SM Mall Of Asia, SM Southmall, SM Aura Premier, Alabang Town Center, SM North EDSA, and Rockwell. What I really love about this is their unlimited coslow. As a meat eater lol I am not really fond of eating veggies, but their coslow with garden sauce makes me go crazy for more. Not only that, they also have unlimited fruits to have.

They also have good interiors and have an appetizing ambiance so you go eat for more. I like how it is spacious enough to have a catch up session with your friends and family. In terms of its service, they have this cold small towel where you can use to freshen up after a long day which I find really welcoming. As I mentioned earlier, they’re crews are accommodating and always ready to serve you.

This will never be an ordinary place for me. This is were I celebrated my first salary from a summer job, monthsary with my loved one, reunion with my barkada, birthdays and many more. I do recommend this place, not only to make memories, but to make your tummy happy with a truly great service. You can visit their website http://yabu.ph/ for more info! #9 All Hail! Dairy Queen!

Ice cream will forever be my favorite comfort food. This became a necessity to me whenever I am depressed or feeling alone in this world, ice cream always take away the stress and sadness in just one bite. Your majesty, Dairy Queen, is one of the most popular ice cream parlors in the world. They have several branches in different countries including the Philippines.

Anyway, DQ is famous for its Blizzard where they turn upside down the ice cream and because of its thickness and richness, it doesn’t fall. But if it falls, then it’s for free! My girlfriends and I went out for a movie but because of the summer heat, we decided to go and hit DQ to ease the heat. We went to their store at Glorietta 4. I ordered their famous Blizzard for only Php 79.00 for a medium sized Loaker Blizzard. It is price per size and depending on what flavor. (Regular flavors: Php 69 9oz, Php 79 12oz, Php 99 16oz)

Dairy Queen does not usually have a huge space. They only have boutiques for their branches. Which makes sense because people usually go for ice cream and just bring it anywhere they like.

They offer different flavors and different kinds of ice cream. I’d say this is a perfect way to be your wonderland especially with this summer heat.

#8 Recovery Stage

Thesis Defense finally DONE! All the sleepless nights and stress we got from the past week of researching and collecting data, was all worth it. It felt so good when you know you worked hard for something worth it. So my groupmates decided to celebrate it at Recovery Food, UP Town Center. The restaurant is perfect for us even its name lol because we are still recovering from thesis defense and all the pain we’ve been through haha (lol a little dramatic on that sorry!)

Anyway, it was lunch time so we ordered rice meals since we were so hungry and craving for something really good. I ordered Happy Beef for Php 160. It was good but sadly,I wasn't able to finish my food because I was already full. The beef was tender, and satisfying. Though, the price was a bit pricey.

The server was so accommodating and made us feel like we were at a fine dining restaurant. They have a good service which I really liked. Also, the food were served just on time. The place itself was appealing and light to the eyes. They do have a good ambiance and interiors that makes the place looks spacious.

It was my first time in Recovery Food but I will surely go back. It was a good place for you to recover and just eat it all out. I thank my lovely groupmates (also, my bestfriends for life), who worked so hard for our thesis, for bringing me here, and letting ourselves recover so we could get back stronger than ever before.

#7 I scream for Ice Cream

As an Ice cream lover, I have every fascination of Ice cream. And Iscreamist, along Teacher’s Village in Quezon City, have taken it to the next level. If you are looking for something new for desserts, this has to be one of the places you should go to.

With my awesome barkada, we were so excited and stoke this unique place that everyone had been talking about. Though, we were disappointed with the interiors of the place because it’s so crowded and surely needs to add some space. We were a little annoyed because it really took time for us to get a table because the space is so limited.

Anyway, when we got to order their famous smore’s where you will dip it into something cold with nitrogen for 7 secs. before eating it. We were amaze with this unique edge they have. Because it was really cool when you see the smoke coming from your mouth. A smoke that won’t kill you.

We really had an amazing time even though our tongues got little burnt from the coldness of the smore’s. It was definitely worth it and the price is quite afforadable. So if you want to have an unique experience and feel like you are in a winter place, then you should go now and visit this place.

#6 Ma-Artsy Cafe

Maginhawa St. really makes your food life a little adventurous and exciting because of the many restaurants piled up in just one street. After another stressful week, my friends decided to eat all the stress out or what we usually call it as stress eating. And so we did. We went to this adorably designed small cafe in Maginhawa called Artsy Cafe.

I think it was called Artsy Cafe because people can take “artsy” pictures where they can upload it on their social media accounts. Anyway, Artsy Cafe felt like another Banapple Restaurant (one of my favorite restaurants hihi), only for an affordable price.

True enough, Artsy Cafe didn’t fail to impress me with the beautiful and eye catching interiors they have. I liked the ambiance and its lighting. It makes you feel comfy, and makes you hungry for more.

As with their food, I ordered their best seller Tapa and egg. It was tasty and satisfying enough. I like how it was cooked. Though, I didn’t like the House Ice tea they served us. It had an unusual taste. Also, they serve it a little late (or maybe I was just really hungry and wanted to eat right away lol) but the server was very approachable, and even if there were a lot of customers, he was able to serve us just right.

One thing I suggest this cafe is for them to have more space. It was quite small for their customers. It would be better if they would add some space, and maybe arrange the tables and chairs accordingly, so that other customers won’t be too close to each other.

On one note, I was satisfied and happy that I was with my barkada. And this place surely gave me comfort after that stressful and overthinking week I’ve had. I do recommend to try this place for you can also have a chance to be an “artsy” for a day.

#5 The Project P

Comfort food is something we always crave for even if it makes us a little stuff and fluffy. And ofcourse, the ultimate favorite comfort and “cheesy” food would be Pizza. After a long & spontaneous study day, me and my friend, Aldrick, decided to have dinner in a place where we don’t usually go to. Since we kinda got stressed and drained from studying, we wanted to eat something to make us and our tummy happy. So we decided to eat at Project Pie which is located at New Park Square, Makati. This place makes me feel giddy and like a kid again because I get to create my own pizza which is totally fun and exciting.

This is our wonderful pizza lol we tried to make it not too risky and not put too much ingredients because we were a bit hungry and, wanted our food to taste good. It only costs us Php 258 where you get to experience making your own pizza plus will surely make your tummy happy.

Before you get to the counter, you will have to go to the lane where you choose the ingredients you will put for your pizza. Since it was my friend’s first time at the store, he was so stoked and happy with the cheese and ingredients that was placed before him. After all the choosing part, they ask for your name, and then you’ll have to wait a little while for your delicious pizza creation. Though, if you really are hungry and wanted to eat right away, they have a prepared menu to choose from just like your ordinary pizza parlor. The place was a comfy place to be in. Their interiors were light, and i’d say it adds up to the happiness and comfort you get from the pizza you just created. Also, they have a self-service area where you get your utensils and drinks, etc. I think this is a good way to be consistent with their product concept they have, which is to make their customers feel free and with the Design-It-Yourself idea. The service was good enough to make us feel welcomed. They also have this photobooth where friends can take and share pictures at the store.

Unfortunately, we werent able to use it since it was turned off by then. Later that night, I tweeted about the fun experience we had and to my surprise, they noticed my simple tweet about their store which I find really cute and a good strategy to get closer to their customers. It was really an exciting experience to make your own pizza.

My friend and I had really fun at this place. You can also visit their branches at MOA and SM City North EDSA. Moreover, I do recommend Project Pie because it’s a great way to bond with your friends and family through unleashing your creativity while creating your best version of comfort food, after a long and stressful day.

#4 Walking with Him

“God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for him and find, though he is not far from each one of us.” - ACTS 17:24-27

I could not wait for Holy Week break to start because this is the time of the year where I get to spend time with my family and friends and of course, God. This may also be the best time to take a pause and reflect on what’s happening in my crazy life. Unlike my friends who went out of town and spent their time on beautiful beaches, holy week for me was quite simple and ordinary yet a fulfilling one. One of the most fulfilling part of it would be the station of the cross that my family went to, at Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City last Good Friday. While other malls were closed for the holy week, Bonifacio High Street was able to be one step ahead and opened some of their stores and fancy restaurants to serve their consumers while giving them a chance to be closer to God. They collaborated with Church Simplified and the other generous sponsors to offer an interactive and amazing exhibit that will surely make a difference.

There were 14 stations that they beautifully set up and each one of them had different activities which anyone can participate. I do admire all the artworks they presented and also was impressed with the activities we were able to join. I have compiled all the stations they showed in different areas.

I really like how every station has an english and tagalog translation which gives an openness and warmth feeling in this celebration.

As you can see, each station contains a message from the names above. The red lines were the insights of the person, and they also have the Act column where it will help you reflect on the station that you just read and also get you involve with interesting activities.

Also, they also involve the social media and technology since some activities will make you text someone a really inspiring note, and the hashtag #CSWalkway #CSWalkwayStation _ (Station’s Number) is in every station you go through. I think this is a really good marketing campaign for them to involve on how people connect nowadays and didn’t exclude the fact that this is a modern era already lol and it surely made the experience more engaging.

Of all the station I went to, Station 13 was my favorite. This is the station where Mary Magdalene found Jesus’ Tomb, and they made you go through this dark and cave like tunnel, and once you get out you will just be amazed with the different notes and the light that you will see. It felt like Jesus’ had risen and I was one of the lucky ones to witness it.

They prepared blank papers and pen where you will write the names of the people who made an impact to your life. Those people close to your heart and you are grateful to have. It was a great experience to let other people see the names of the people who you are grateful to. This activity really flattered my heart with gratitude and love.

The Last Station would go back to Peter, and I was really delighted with how creative they were to reenact the Lord’s supper by giving us a jelly ace colored juice which will represent the blood and a biscuit as the body.

These are some genius and amazing creations that will give you chills and make you feel the essence of the Walk, and you know that you are in the right place.

People were able to carry a cross and nail on the cross their sufferings, regrets, anger and basically, the things they did wrong which will signify their repentance and that they surrender all to Him. I did carry the cross, and I was shocked that it was really heavy and this made me felt how Jesus’ suffered so much and what I did were too far from what He had suffered.

All of the activities were overwhelming and really made me reflect about my life. But this one had an impact to my heart. It was when you will be a Simon to Jesus, a stranger who helped Him carry the cross at the mountain. In the bowl were prayers written of those who wrote before me. I will pick one then I will pray for that person then I will write my own prayer and put it in a bowl so someone will be able to pray for me.

“The Lord is close to the Broken hearted and those who are crushed in spirit Whoever you are who got this, God is close to you more than ever”

I was entirely stoked when I got this because it was for me. I thought I would be able to pray for someone’s random needs and dilemmas but I got a message that is entirely accurate of what I’ve been feeling for the past few weeks. Honestly, i’ve been having emotional pain and personal problems where some times I just don’t know who to turn to. Hence, this had proved me that God has always been there ,and I was just blinded by the troubles in my heart instead I should open my heart to receive the love He unconditionally gives and see how much He values each one of us. To whoever who wrote this, I thank you for letting me know that no one is alone in our battles because God is there to shield us with His undying love and help us gain back our fragile hearts.

These are the sponsors that made this special station of the cross possible. The ushers were approachable and happy to guide you while you’re on the station. They also provided souvenirs and other materials to purchase, if you want to truly remember this event. BHS really made a good fortune out of this event because this is one of the few malls where most of the restaurants were open and that some establishments were selling too so after the Station of the Cross people were craving and hungry for good restaurants to go to. Hence, they didn’t only make money but they surely got their customers heart be fulfilled with God’s presence.

Indeed, Church can really be simple. If we just act together and give a shot. We can all be closer to Him. Let Him find us back and bring us to His love. This holy week special by Walkway 2015 courtesy of Bonifacio High Street and Church Simplified didn’t only make me feel welcomed and let my stayaction at home exciting but it proved me that you didn’t have to go far to reflect and find God, because you will find Him only if you let Him.

#3 Catch the Draft

Last February 14, it shouldn’t only be for lovers but also be celebrated with friends and loved ones! So I did! Two of my bestest bestfriends way back in Highschool decided to have a chill dinner at Draft Gastropub Manila, which you can find at G/F Greenbelt 2, Ayala Center. They also have branches in The Fort, Rockwell and in Alabang. Anyway, I find this place really chill and a good way to catch up with friends you don’t usually see like these two busy girls.

Good thing we all didn’t have dates that night so we got to bond and catch up! Hehe I ordered their new White Fish Spaghetti which costs at around Php 295. Their prices are a bit pricey but considering the location and ambiance, it is just right for its value.

We also had drinks to have for the night. Though, they didn’t have much on their drinks available to offer at that time which made us a little disappointed. Anyway, the server was very accommodating but the delivery of food wasn't fast as it should be. They made us wait for more than 15 minutes than usual but their food were worth waiting for! Though I just wished it was a little faster.

I like their interiors and their ambiance because of the high ceiling and the bar beside you. It makes you more free and ready to mingle with friends after a stressful week.

The best part of that night was bonding moment I had with my Highschool friends plus I may not spent my valentine with someone special but Draft still made sure that I could bond and have a great night with my bestfriends who I am sure to have for the rest of my life.

#2 That place called Baguio

Baguio post fever isn’t oveeer! My family and I went to baguio to have a chill and to unwind from all the stress and busy life we've had for the past weeks. When we watched the indie movie, "That thing called Tadhana", we wanted to go to the places they went to since we thought that it'll be perfect for our chill and break adventure. However, we weren't able to go to places we wanted to but our paths lead us to a very chill (literally, because it was freezing in baguio lol) and comfortable place to be in. "The Other Office" in Baguio, previously known as Villa Cordillera. It is located along Outlook drive, Baguio. It is also part of Baguio Country Club. It was a very cozy and chill place to be in. I really was impressed with its interior and the people serving us.

Their drinks were good but not the best thing I tasted, and their pica pica’s were okay too and it was just right for its price. My mom ordered dessert, one of it is this leche flan which my mom said was good and tasty.

RM’s Delight

Since it was called, the Other Office, the servers were in corporate attire, and they were very accommodating.And their menu’s name was inspired by the terms used in the office like CEO’s drink, Director’s Delight, Termination Meal, etc. Moreover, they also have bands playing while you enjoy your food and drinks. Since we went there past dinner time, I ordered their RM’s delight and also some pica pica like calamares and their cheese sticks.

What I like about this place aside from being perfect for chilling and catching up with your friends and family, is the ambiance and interior that makes the place cozy. They have a fireplace and couches if you want to feel relaxed.

Though, we had a difficult time looking for the place because instructions weren’t clear on how to get there. They should make more guide on how to get to their place since they changed the name, and people aren’t aware of it. Also, I think they need to have a service where customers will be able to get cabs. Because the place is located on a shady place where cars barely pass by. Anyway, I still had a great time at this place. I was able to take my mind away from problems and other stress in my life even for a little while.

Strawberries has been one of my favorite fruits because of its mouth-watering sweetness. I always wonder how they grow and deliver these amazingly delicious strawberries. Luckily, I was able to visit Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad, Baguio with my beautiful family who took a little break from our busy and quite stressful life. Moreover, It was one of a kind experience where I get to pick my very own strawberries. The farm allows their visitors to pick their own strawberries and enjoy the scenery. They even get to explain how it grows, and the best part was you get to eat the strawberries while picking them up. Honestly, I ate so much strawberries, I could barely leave the place lol anyway, one peculiar thing about this farm is you have to get atleast 1kg of strawberries (ofcourse, it’s not for free lol) BUT! it’s twice the price of its market price. It will cost around Php 450/kg. Maybe you’re asking why is it double the price when you are already helping them harvest their strawberries? This is because strawberries are very sensitive, and tourists may not correctly pick the strawberries as they should. So in order to prevent this waste, they’ve increase its price and its value through the experience and satisfying feeling the customer will get. Plus, the proceeds go to the students of the municipality where they use the money to fund their needs as students. I’d say this is a good strategy for Strawberry Farm to make because they were able to give value to their strawberries yet give an unforgettable experience to their customers plus help the young people to finish their studies. If I would have a chance to go back to this sweet place, I’d go and wouldn't think twice.
