Any good destiel fic recs for after Cas professes his love for Dean in 15x18?

Prefer long but happy to accept short fics.

Supernatural had the opportunity to do something great. To send a message of love and validation to a whole community. Not only to the part of the community that liked their show, but to all of us. But instead they decided to pander to the people, who never had to fight for their representation.

I support #TheySilencedYou, #TheySilencedThem and #TheyWillNeverSilenceUs and I'm in awe of all of you. Of your eloquence, passion, coordination and decisiveness. And I feel like your message goes beyond this particular TV show and the CW.

It's about protesting a pattern of disrespect towards otherness in Mainstream Media. It's about demanding meaningful, unmistakably queer representation, that enables discourse and furthers understanding in a heterogenic Audience. It's about asking Networks to not only hire diverse staff but to also give them the freedom to tell their stories the way they want to. It's about telling creators to own up to the inherent messages they leave us with in the end.

And that's inspiring and should be celebrated.

Stories matter.

Happiness is...

I've gotten a few comments on my previous posts (part 1; part 2) about the Confession scene. So I think I might address some of them.

This post is not about Dean's reaction, or Jensen's acting; it is however, dedicated to the scene itself. Or rather; it's message.

And the scene was never truly about Dean. It was, it has always been, about Castiel.

Castiel unloaded a lot of his emotions, and thoughts on us, so I'm not going to go through every word.

In fact, I will only go through one thing, which I think is what was truly the message of the scene.

We all knew Cas loved Dean, that he loved him wholly, that he saw him for what he truly was - a loving, caring man that deserved so much more than he has been given. He didn't say it for us, he said it for Dean. And for himself.

Sure, it was nice to get it voiced, get it confirmed, but that's not what I want to talk about.

I want to talk about this:

Happiness isn't in the having. It's in just being. It's in just saying it.

I think it's very clear what Castiel meant by this - he's happy with just loving Dean, with just being in love with him. He can reach the utter happiness just by saying it.

Now, don't get me wrong, I also hoped for a better fleshed, full dialogue. Dean's words. A nice scene we thought we all deserve. What we got was a monologue from Cas's point of view.

however

Hapiness is not in the having.

We don't need to have a official "destiel" relationship for it to be real.

It's in just being.

And we all know that is's there, in between them. It may be unsaid romantic feelings, it may be a platonic profound bond. But it's there.

It's in just saying it.

"I love you."

And if that's all Cas needs, why are we even questioning it? It may not be what we wanted, what we hoped for, what we imagined, but it is what we have gotten.

A confirmation.

It's there and it has been said. And if you combine this with the 11 seasons of their relationship, the good, the bad and the unsaid, and with Dean's reaction... those absolutely heartwrenching sobs resonating through the empty room, then you get it.

It's not just this one scene, it's all of it.

Just look at the way Dean’s smile fades aways as he realizes that this is the last time he is going to hug Cas, the last time they are going to be together and the last time he’s going to see him. And then, you see how sad Cas is when he pulls away, because he knows that too. Even his eyes are glassy. He doesn’t want Dean to do this. And he wants to tell him so many things, but he says I could go with you, telling Dean that he doesn’t have to do this alone, and that he will follow him to the end of the world and beyond if Dean asked him to. He doesn’t want to say goodbye. He doesn’t want Dean to die.

Dean will save the world, but Cas’ world is Dean.

Out of all the times that Dean said Cas’ name this one still makes me the most emotional. He has to physically shut his eyes and squeeze them like he is trying to erase the image of Lucifer out of his mind. He takes that second and his face says how frustrated and broken he is because ‘Why isn’t this working? Why isn’t Cas answering? Why won’t he respond? He said he would always come when I call, why isn’t he now? I need to get through to him.’ 

Dean just yells his name then. It’s a prayer and plead and most of all the loss of control over his thoughts crowding his head. It hurts.
