Dominion 2018, a year ago yesterday, I finally attained the title which evaded me my entire career in New Japan and became the 66th IWGP World Heavyweight Champion by defeating Okada-san. The match was long and grueling, and there were times that, even though I had been told I was finally going to win the strap, that I didn’t think I was going to win. Dave Meltzer rated the match 7 stars, breaking the record of any stars given to a wrestling match. In my reign, I defended the belt against @allelitecody, Tomohiro Ishii, Kota Ibushi, before finally dropping it to the G1 Climax winner at Wrestle Kingdom 13, Hiroshi Tanahashi, making it his eighth title reign and my final match with the company. That same night, a new stable inside of The Elite was born in the ring after my championship win, when The Young Bucks, Kota Ibushi, and myself dubbed ourselves The Golden Elite.
