Hope you don’t mind me saying this but you have always been quite a sensible blog who doesn’t contribute to the perpetual cycle of insane lukola rhetoric by addressing them. The fact is that your previous anon overstates the magnitude and extent of the lukola noise. Not only does it make no difference to Nicola & Jake & their continued success, but these voices are also more & more irrelevant within the Nicola fan space. Their numbers dwindle as they move onto other toxic shipping fandoms and no one takes them seriously. I understand the frustration about the type of behavior, but atp it’s like getting into a fight with pigs then being shocked to get mud on you.

All of the people bitching about Nicola openly and proudly supporting Jake, who make fun of her and call her immature or who insinuate like he's controlling what she posts and when, all of these people would have absolutely zero problem with any of it - if it was directed towards a certain Bridgerton co-star of hers. They really don't have a problem with WHAT she does, just WHO she does it for. If it was for someone with the initials LN, they'd be loudly celebrating each and every post. But because it's all for Jake, they have to cut her down because they've still never really forgiven her, and not just for the "crime" of not being interested in acting out their little wish-fulfillment fantasies, but for actively choosing to build a relationship and a life with someone else. It doesn't seem to matter to them that Luke didn't have any interest in playing out their fantasies either. In their eyes, he can do no wrong, and Nicola can do no right. Their misogyny continues to be well and truly on display.

I level of misogyny is astonishing.

I love that Nicola decided to post about MBC and support Jake. It looks like a cool show, period piece, with its own aesthetic, a little bit funny and chaotic. I am planning to enjoy it.

I know that some people are complaining about her posting it and I found it interesting. Lol, why she shouldn’t post about it. It’s her partner, she is proud of him, and they usually post about each other and their friends achievements. I found it cute and supportive. Who will celebrate and be proud of you, if not the people closest to you. I am always suspicious about people who judge support of loved ones. But that’s my personal bias and worldview.

I think most of the fandom problems and discourse come from fans imposing their own expectations on other people. This case is not the exception. People want to control what chosen celebrities do, what they post and who they like. But that’s real people who will do whatever they want, even the things you personally don’t like. And when reality clashes with fans expectations, in some extreme cases the rage, insults and even worse things start.

I am trying to bear this in mind when I see the same discourse (often hateful) over and over again.

The trailer really got me excited, it gives a little bit of The Other Bennet sister vibes, which is one of my favourite tv shows this year, so definitely good.

I love that Sybylla is so chaotic and funny, Frank (Jake’s character) gives really old school gentlemany vibes, and Harry (Chris character) is just really hot😅

The costumes are so good, it’s even difficult to recognise everyone.
