PART ONE
"y/n!" a familiar voice shook me awake. an unsolicited groan rumbled in my chest as i opened my eyes only a bit to a familiar head of white hair. "what time is it?" i muttered, turning away from her. "come with me! trust me!" she shook me again, finally forcing my eyes all the way open. "yue-" i began before she thrust the blankets off of my once warm body. "come. on.!" she giggled, grabbing my hand & forcing me up. after realizing she wasn't going to let me go easy i stood & put my feet in my slippers, throwing a robe on. "are mom & dad still asleep?" i asked, earning a nod from yue. she grabbed my hand & lead me out of my bedroom.
the half moon was still high in the air as we wandered through the almost abandoned streets of our tribe. the cold air welcoming me like it always has, kissing at my cheeks & nose. i'll never get tired of it, the smell of salt water & the light breeze weaving through my pale blue hair. my twin sisters hand in mine fitting as perfectly as a puzzle piece. i knew the path we were walking on, for we did this more than we should.
the spirit oasis pool was me & yues special spot. where we could pay our thanks to the ocean & moon spirits for giving us life. my sisters was the visual embodiment of the moon, her white hair & pale blue eyes complementing the large rock in the sky & also the white koi fish swimming in the pool below us. said koi fish had another half, just like us. the ocean spirit had blessed me, showing itself in my pale blue hair & almost black eyes. i stared down lovingly at the black koi fish, knowing what it represented, knowing what it had done for me.
"i feel like something's coming, something big is going to happen." my sister sat on the ground, i followed suit shortly. "the avatar, he's back, isn't he?" i wasn't expecting an answer, i knew he was back because my village couldn't stop talking about it. "i can't wait for him to come here, i know he's on his way, i just know it." i smiled at my sister's excitement, yue always had a way of brightening any day, or in this case: night. "it'll be one of the most exciting things to happen to the north pole for sure!" i nudged her shoulder, "that or your engagement." the words felt like lead as they exited, seeing yues face drop. "oh, i shouldn't have said that- i'm sorry." i swallowed, yues face relaxing a bit.
"maybe the fire nation will call him out of the village before we have to get married!" we both giggled at that, the previous sour subject forgotten. "hey." i said, gaining her attention. "no matter what happens, we'll always have each other." my hand found hers like a magnet, "yeah, always." she confirmed, squeezing my hand. our focus turned to the two fish circling each other in the pool in front of us. always.
