I’m very fond of clocks, for some reason, but I can’t stand having a chiming clock in the house.  It’s a guarantee that every hour, on the hour, something will go ‘boom boom boom’ and distract you from whatever you’re doing.  Then you only have to wait an hour for it happen again - but for a little longer.
