MARLEY: I've heard that before from you.
MARLEY: It's a metaphor.
MARLEY: I will be.
RYDER: Well now I'm really trying. I'm like super trying now.
RYDER: Damn, do you really not believe that I can turn this thing around?

MARLEY: I've heard that before from you.
MARLEY: It's a metaphor.
MARLEY: I will be.
RYDER: Well now I'm really trying. I'm like super trying now.
RYDER: Damn, do you really not believe that I can turn this thing around?
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: Am I supposed to get getting more faith in you after that statement?
MARLEY: You're on a short leash. I'm sure you've never experienced that, but welcome to that life. I can deal with it myself, you focus on trying not to be awful.
RYDER: Yes. Because now you know I'm trying.
RYDER: A short leash? What does that even mean? I'm not a dog.
RYDER: I'm not awful. I mean I can be not awful. Just watch me.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: No.
RYDER: Marley, I'm trying to make this right and you're not letting me?
RYDER: Like c'mon, give me some credit here. The last time I tried to make something right, my voice hadn't dropped yet.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: You're the one that asked why.
MARLEY: It was harassment.
MARLEY: Nope.
RYDER: Harassment, sorry.
RYDER: I say we just forget about the whole lingerie situation, it didn't actually happen. We just move past it and like start fresh. I'll be good this time, I promise.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: It does when you do stuff like the lingerie thing.
MARLEY: We're good in the sense that "us" gets to survive another day or two until I make my decision.
RYDER: How many times do I have to apologize for that?
RYDER: Lingerie is hot, I was just saying that you were hot. It was a compliment.
RYDER: If you break us up, just make sure you make it a big deal. That's all I ask.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: Well I'll be the first to hold you to a higher standard, then.
MARLEY: Good choice.
MARLEY: I'll have my agent return it.
RYDER: Why? I'm your fake boyfriend, does it really matter if I have common sense or not?
RYDER: Good choice.
RYDER: So we're good then?
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: You have common sense. Don't knock yourself as dumb to get out of something you should know.
MARLEY: You're making your situation worse.
MARLEY: I can do it.
RYDER: I get hit in the head a lot, my common sense can be cloudy.
RYDER: Shit. Pretend I never said that.
RYDER: But what if someone sees you? Do you want a pic to go viral of you returning that? Not good for your younger fans. I know you have younger fans cause you told me one time and I remembered.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: Because you got me unsolicited lingerie. Outside of your little bubble, that's sexual harassment.
MARLEY: Just leave me alone for a few days and I'll consider it. If anybody asks, say that I'm dedicating time to writing songs for the next album.
MARLEY: I'm returning the whatever, by the way.
RYDER: How was I supposed to know that?? I didn't learn shit in college, I was just there cause of football.
RYDER: Fine, I'll do that. When's your next album coming out btw? I wanna get in on all that press.
RYDER: I can return it, when you're done considering everything, of course.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: They don't have to agree with it. I'll tweet about how it was fake the entire time, and your agents can't stop me. Your agents won't be able to clean up the mess either.
MARLEY: Are you kidding? I'll be thankful. I just feel sorry for whoever comes next, because no matter what their story is or who they are, they'll always be too good for you. Your jersey and stuff can get you as many women as you want while you have it, but until you learn to grow up and get an ounce of decency, respect, and humanity, you're never going to deserve someone. You don't deserve me, and I don't deserve to be treated like this by someone as awful as you.
RYDER: All this cause I got you a gift? Damn.
[5 minutes later]
RYDER: My agents are gonna kill me if you do that. Look, I know what I am and how I act most of the time. And I know you're a hot chick and all who's got like the world at your feet and who everyone worships or whatever.
RYDER: Just give me another chance, and I won't pull shit like that. You've made your point. You're too good for me, but that doesn't mean that you should end it. I know I'm a lot and honestly, I know when I go too hard and I'm sorry that I stepped outta line. Numerous times.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: I'm going to tell her that nobody can force me to be around someone so infuriatingly awful as you.
MARLEY: And if they try to change my mind, I'll let them know that I'd rather be chained to a hungry tiger for the rest of my life than have to experience anything close to you.
MARLEY: I'm doing fine, you're the one that's going to take a blow. I don't feel sorry for you, though.
RYDER: I'm not awful, trust me. You haven't seen awful yet.
RYDER: Maybe they'll chain you to a hungry tiger then cause my agents will never agree to it.
RYDER: I'm not gonna take a blow, trust me. If anything that'll boost me up more when everyone realizes I'm not taken anymore. I'll be trending and you'll be getting scorned for leaving behind someone as hot as me.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: No.
MARLEY: I'm calling my agent tomorrow. I never want to spend another second with you.
RYDER: What are you even gonna do? You really think that's gonna work? I mean c'mon, even I'm not that clueless.
RYDER: Also ask them to remove the stick up your butt.
RYDER: I'm just saying I'm in the prime of the football season right now, and that definitely wouldn't be in the best interest for you.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: You're disgusting.
RYDER: How many guys do you know that'd get their fake gf a present?
RYDER: Exactly.
RYDER: The least you could do is say thank you, all chicks besides you would love something like that from as big of a stud as me. Just saying.
TEXT CONVO;; PR
MARLEY: If I don't have anything nice to say, I won't say anything at all.
MARLEY: But no, I don't.
RYDER: But I thought you'd look good in leopard print and you'd appreciate it?
RYDER: I mean it kinda screamed /you/ to me.
RYDER: Maybe you can write a song about this?
TEXT CONVO;; PR
RYDER: So you never told me.
RYDER: Did you like my gift?
WHAT’S THE VERDICT;; ONE NIGHT STAND
onlymarley :
“ You’re not a dad, Ryder. “ She bit back, matching his tone. This was the last thing she wanted, with finals coming up and more classes to prepare for, this kind of stress wasn’t on her bucket list. “ And you can stop criticizing me for making decisions you’ll never have to consider. “
She sat her food down, appetite lost in all the anger and tension filling her body. She ran fingers through her hair, catching some knots at the crown of her head and punching her hand into a fist. “ You don’t know me. I’m a law student at NYU, I have scholarships and twenty-three credit hours each semester to worry about, I can barely support myself and I have a life ahead of me. I don’t even know you. Whatever I decide to do, I’m not keeping this baby, I might not even have it. You’re not in the loop because I’m the one with the mess at her feet, the least you could do is have a little sympathy and not scream at me in my own home.”
She was right, he wasn’t. But he still had some morals he felt he was obliged to. “Then what do you call my relationship to that thing inside of you right now?” He shook his head, rolling his eyes at the woman in front of him. “Well then it’s a good thing you’re not gonna be a mom either.” If she was going to make these comments about him, he was going to do the same to her.
“I would’ve never pegged you for a lawyer, you look more like one of those nurses.” He shrugged. “You’re the one who wanted to be a lawyer, so don’t go yelling at me about the fact that you can barely support yourself. Have you even tried asking and reaching out? Contrary to what you think, I’m not a damn monster. I work for the NYFD.” He shook his head angrily. He didn’t understand why she could call the shots without him.
“You don’t think I have a right to know what you do with this baby? Whatever you do with it, I want to know. It’s my right to know. I just don’t think it’s right to keep something like this from me. I wouldn’t be yelling at you if you just told me in the first place instead of me having to pull it out of you. Not knowing each other well, isn’t an excuse either. We exchanged numbers, you could’ve told me when you knew but you didn’t. I think that speaks volumes about the person that you are.””
WHAT’S THE VERDICT;; ONE NIGHT STAND
onlymarley :
“The decency?” She almost felt the words burn in her mouth. This was making her blood start to boil. “Don’t talk to me about decency, Mr. Couldn’t Remember My Name then Barges Into my House.”
She hated getting so angry. She wasn’t supposed to get her blood pressure up, and she was going to put herself in a funk for the rest of the day “And I’m sorry that the idea of my pregnancy isn’t affecting me the way you want it too. It’s not like it’s happening to me, or anything. It doesn’t even matter, I’m taking care of it. You have nothing to worry about it.”
“At least I had the decency to follow through on this. You didn’t even bother telling me. When did you plan on mentioning it? Or were you trying to make me look the asshole dad that didn’t want anything to do with the thing? Nice try.”
He then began pacing, knowing that he was about two seconds away from blowing up at her. “I don’t know, I just figured you wouldn’t be so easygoing about this whole thing.” Even Ryder was showing emotion, something he rarely did around others. “How are you taking care of it? I think I at least deserve the right to know that.” He wanted to straight-up know how she was taking care of it. He didn’t want to assume anything with this girl, she had failed to tell him about this and to him, it hurt more than anything.
WHAT’S THE VERDICT;; ONE NIGHT STAND
onlymarley :
“I’m pregnant.”
She had accepted it a few weeks ago, if it had even been that long ago. It was a fact of life now, even as much as it felt like a punch in the gut every time she thought about it. There was no way around it now, and she wasn’t going to hide it now. She wasn’t going to give him that kind of satisfaction. “I don’t know why you wanted to come all the way over here for me to tell you, but yeah, there you have it.” She paused, still facing away from him as much as she could. “Do you want some water? I wasn’t expecting anybody over, so I’m not the most prepared for guests.”
Those two words led to ringing in his ears. He felt like he had gotten the wind knocked out of him, having the need to sit down. She then asked something about water, and he as much as he wanted water to digest the news with, he wasn’t going to just brush this off as easily as she seemed to be able to. Shit, shit, shit. He knocked her up, or at least he assumed he was the one that did since that’s practically what she insinuated during their little encounter.
“No, I don’t want water.” The words came out of his mouth pretty dry, and he noticed just how much he needed water. “What I want is for you to look at me, Marley. You’re pregnant and you didn’t have the decency to tell me?” Sure he was a huge player, but Ryder wasn’t a wuss. He dealt with the consequences of his actions. “Why don’t you even seem affected by this?”
