sure you're not a radfem @fluoresensitives oh wait
you not being attracted to men is not a problem. your gender essentialism is though.
you are dumb as shit omfg

I think you guys tend to think of lesbians in such a nasty, aggressive way, especially when it comes to men, and 9/10 you haven't even begun to unpack it. No critique we have of the patriarchy, of society, of men is taken as a legitimate grievance, everything is, "oh my god, you just hate boys. You just want to take our boyfriends away, hey what about the NICE boys" and it's so, so extremely isolating.
Just from the notes on this post.
and last but not least, from op:
okay here's a challenge: everyone who argues against bisexual!Ochaco, try doing it without using wordings like
"she's going to outgrow her crush on Deku"
"she's going to realize she was just pressured into having a crush on Deku"
"her crush on Deku doesn't add anything to the narrative, therefore there's no reason for it to be there"
"her having a crush on a guy makes her interactions with Toga queerbaiting"
aka THE most common biphobic rhetorics out there. go on, I'll wait.
this is what y’all haters sound like
EDIT: btw this is not a jab against ppl who are just, Idk, Davepeta/Jade shippers, or just anyone creating a comic about the beta kids having other families than the one depicted in HS2. go have fun you funky beans. this is specifically directed at HS2 haters, esp those who create “fix it” comics for no other reason than to shit on everything they hate about HS2.
??? whether you think it's a morally good or bad decision doesn't really matter lol. if a family has to work around the fact that there is a child resulting from an extramarital relationship, then yes, that is a non traditional family structure.
man I wish there was a tag or something that you could filter to not see people calling grown ass cis men lesbians.
for some reason everyone understands that mislabeling anyone with any other label is uncool. calling someone who identifies as a lesbian a bisexual will get you more than a few eyebrow raises. calling a trans woman a man is considered hatespeech, and rightfully so.
but for some reason, when it’s men, and only when it’s men, no one sees an issue with misgendering and mislabelling them, and everyone’s suddenly like “ugh imagine getting pressed about a joke”.
Idk man, joke away, I’m not gonna start a whole discussion about how radfem koolaid has poisoned you into being unable to let men and masculinity exist. and it’s not like I can keep anyone from doing it. but it’s absolutely everywhere recently, and I just wish there was a way to filter it.
I can personally promise you that radfems are not calling cis men lesbians
never said they do. all I said was that ppl likely drink the radfem koolaid if they think misgendering men is cool and hilarious.

“i can fix him” i can make her question her gender
literally why would you want to intentionally make someone feel insecure in their gender identity
(via @decoderse )
what I feel Epilogue detractors don’t understand is that the Epilogues were intentionally commenting on fanfic tropes. they were an intentional comment on and deconstruction of the kind of hetnorm fanfic where everyone ends up happily married with a traditional family. you may have noticed that it doesn’t really work out for a single character.
in any case, I get you that it’s gotta be possible to criticize pieces of media without a hatemob forming around it. you are allowed to dislike HS2 for any reason you want whatsoever, and I’m not interested in convincing you HS2 is good. (though I think it’s important to recognize that there are readers, like me, who loved the Epilogues and HS2 to pieces, and who did not think either was hard to follow, or badly set up, or anything else. I think it was smart, funny, and most importantly, I could deeply relate to half of the characters’ experiences, in a way that I rarely can.)
but I’m sorry, I fail to see how criticizing a comic that’s long been bullied into hiatus is necessary. my point is that HS2 has been cancelled / on indefinite hiatus for over a year now (due to sustained harassment against the authors I may repeat). and you guys are still not done getting mad about it to a point where it’s just. way beyond a level of “we need to criticize this comic in a nuanced manner”. real, actual people have gotten hurt over this. queer people creating very queer content have almost been bullied out of a job. that is usually the cue to sit down and ease up.
it seems to me like you (plural you, not you in particular) seriously need to learn how to disengage with content you dislike.
Well, ths is news to me.
Homestuck^2 being on indefinite hiatus, that is.
it's right there in the about?
hey, on a more positive note, I'm glad how civil all of the arguments have been so far, even with ppl disagreeing with my points.
thanks for that!

that’s the thing though, affairs are like, an absolute staple in all manner of forms of media. it’s a very common tool for drama and conflict. and usually, no one bats an eye, and no one gets cancelled over it. the uproar HS2 got over that affair was not even remotely justified.
and considering how quick all the fix its were to cram everyone into neat little 2 parents + 1½ child family units (complete with turning all the women involved into tradwives), it’s not a stretch to assume that the outrage stemmed from a very conservative world view that just could not fathom the idea of these characters being involved in the non-traditional family structure that would result from an affair.

#not to participate in discourse but #I'm pretty sure the main issue with hs2 was the fact that the time skip meant many characters felt extremely ooc #and not enough time was spent with any one in a way that made the reader sympathetic to them or connect with them #so most characters and their arcs from homestuck felt bastardized #this is a common writing struggle when involving time skips #and when met with backlash there was no word from the team at all #whatpumpkin was totally silent #and that kinda shit #especially in the face of long and random hiatuses #is what kills a franchise #we have seen this more and more as covid causes delays in production in the gaming industry #the companies lacking pr and keeping their audiences updated are the ones who tank unfortunately #and that is not the fault of the writers or artists or anything #it is the fault of the ones in charge ie hussie or whoever he put in charge of hs2 #homestuck fans by and large are all about nonconventional family structures and lgbt rep #though I'll acknowledge this comic is probably about some specific niche I havent seen yet lol (via @decoderse)
HS2 wasn’t cancelled because of covid or bad management though. they had to stop posting updates due to the insane amounts of harassment the creators received.
Future Approach to Homestuck^2
most of it wasn’t over the portrayal of the characters being OOC, but the claim that the way gender, sexuality and relationships were portrayed in Homestuck 2 was homophobic, or transphobic, etc. for portraying queerness in a way that didn’t adhere to a very strict code of purity. keep in mind that all of the writers were queer/trans themselves.
even if it had been about OOC portrayal, that still wouldn’t give people the right to be this hateful towards queer content creators and cancel them out of a job in the middle of a pandemic.
there is nothing reasonable about the vicious hatemob surrounding HS2. there is no nuance here. there is no justification for the way people talk about HS2 or its creators. if you haven’t heard about any of this, please read up on it. it’s important not to misconstrue this issue.

#??? #is this just like a targeted jab at kittyquest? #I’ve seen way more people do the bottom with dave while being really annoying about it too #which is why I like sort of see where this is coming from #but kittyquest predates yiffy #if anything I’ve seen people wish kanaya/rose/jade actually being a non traditional family structure wasa thing #but as it is the only people yiffy seems familially tied to are rose/jade and jane #like i want to see hs2 come back too but this just seems like an interesting thought process (via @dash-n-step)
dude I’ve never even heard of kittyquest. but I bet it’s good! if your #1 motivator for creating your comic is not hating on HS2, then this is not even remotely directed at you.
#lol ah then I guess this is just a result of seeing different people altogether #my b #in any case it feels like most comics who intentionally create to spite HS2 usually die early on or go on hiatus #also hi i keep forgetting people might actually reply to tags outside of tags (via @dash-n-step)
yeah I don’t see any of them lasting long either, but the HS2 tag still consists p much exclusively of ppl shitting on it unfortunately. in any case, I just edited my original post to avoid further confusion haha
also hi to you too lol! I just had a quick look at kittyquest and it looks cool~ v cute art, v nice writing style. keep up the good work!

i would just like the shake the hand of whoever it was that was responsible for turning *this*:
into THIS
like someone really saw the original vi and went “there is so much untapped gay potential here” and RAN with it
characters designed for the male gaze are OUT! characters designed for my lesbian gaze are IN!
#bro you just Know lesbians worked on this show. #every female character looks 500 times better
now you could watch the credits to learn that all the people responsible for art direction and character designs in Arcane are men. this could come as a pleasant surprise to you! because it means designs that make female viewers feel comfortable, or are even appealing to female viewers, are becoming more popular, even with men!
or you can keep convincing yourself that gender essentialism is real and men and lesbians have absolutely no common ground when it comes to taste in women.
