   ⋄   “   don't   go   messing   up   the   order   of   things   ,   your   seat's   that   one   .   ”   it   was   a   rare   occurrence   that   he'd   be   the   first   to   arrive   at   one   of   these   ,   it   was   usually   the   other   three   who   would   be   waiting   for   him   .   so   ,   not   knowing   how   to   deal   without   the   conversation   he'd   arrive   in   the   middle   of   and   already   voice   his   opinions   about   ,   andré   resorted   to   ordering   for   the   entire   group   and   having   everything   placed   where   each   person   would   normally   go   .   so   of   course   it   would   annoy   him   when   the   first   person   to   arrive   didn't   go   for   their   assigned   seat   .   “   there's   a   thing   called   consistency   ,   keep   it   .   ”

          she's  barely  even  had  a  chance  to  open  her  mouth  yet  ,  purse  haphazardly  left  to  rest  in  a  random  chair  while  eyes  remain  glued  to  her  phone  screen  .  feet  carried  her  here  without  so  much  as  a  second  thought  ,  attention  only  pulled  when  andré's  voice  pipes  up  from  his  seat  .  it's  only  then  she  realizes  that  he's  annoyingly  right  ,  plate  of  chicken  milanese  that  always  sounded  much  fancier  in  french  than  it  did  in  english  sat  accompanied  by  a  glass  of  brachetto  sat  on  the  opposite  side  of  the  table  from  where  she  was  standing  .  "  oh  ,  please  .  .  .  do  you  really  want  to  talk  to  me  about  consistency  when  you're  the  one  that's  regularly  late  to  the  lunch  that  we  have  every  week  at  the  exact  same  time  ?  "  should've  known  he  was  going  to  lose  that  argument  the  moment  it  came  out  of  his  mouth  ,  yet  still  ,  she  listened  ,  plucking  her  bag  from  one  chair  to  carry  it  over  to  the  next  .  “  it's  so  odd  you  being  here  so  early  ,  i  usually  have  a  few  minutes  to  send  emails  before  even  asa  or  audra  arrive  so  something  must  be  terribly  wrong  with  you  ,  “  she  starts  ,  sitting  comfortably  in  her  chair  ,  glass  of  wine  immediately  raised  to  glossed  lips  .  but  he  should  be  lucky  another  of  their  friends  was  spotted  from  the  corner  of  her  eye  ,  sparing  him  from  her  line  of  questioning  .  ”  can  you  believe  he  got  here  before  me  and  he  ordered  ?  don't  you  think  we  should  call  a  doctor  or  something  ?  ” ( @mademciselle  ,  @ontherivieras )

                        "   that,   or   someone's   already   had   their   cafecito,   and   it's   turned   him   authoritarian   for   the   day.   "   fingers   pinch   sunglasses   off   her   nose   and   up   into   her   hair,   a   glance   backwards   to   make   sure   asa   still   follows   behind,   having   bumped   into   him   a   few   steps   before   their   spot.   with   brows   raised,   she   gives   a   lax   shrug   of   her   shoulders   to   her   fellow   late   lunchers,   heels   taking   her   to   find   so-called   designated   seat   ⸻   as   if   it   weren't   obvious   enough   she'd   be   sat   beside   andré.   slimming   down   tweed   mini   dress,   she   tucks   purse   into   her   lap,   a   glint   of   something   that   looks   close   to   satisfaction   at   truffle   pasta   in   front   of   her.   "   there   should   still   be   enough   time   for   mimosas   ...   "   audra   murmurs   as   she   glances   toward   a   faraway   menu,   turning   her   gaze   to   the   man   beside   her   with   a   knowing   look.   "   don't   be   so   upset.   we're   here   now,   aren't   we   ?   "

   “  yeah,  don't  be  upset.  we're  here  now,  aren't  we,  ”   asa  repeated  in  a  sing  -  song  like  cadence,  best  he  could  manage  to  match  audra's  pitch  before  taking  the  last  seat  wedged  between  aria  and  andré.  though,  the  thought  had  been  there,  one  that  came  with  a  glance  to  a  chair  at  a  nearby  table  to  swipe  it  and  sit  between  the  two  lovebirds.  a  very  fleeting  one  however,  given  the  casualty  of  being  in  the  firing  line  of  andré's  flirting  gave  asa  a  visible  scrunch  of  his  nose  mentally  playing  out  the  exchange.  “  get  anything  you  want,  they  love  me  here.  ”   he  leaned  back,  slouching  in  the  seat  in  such  a  manner  that  might  have  made  anyone  reprimand  him  for  poor  posture.  “  that  one  waitress,  ”   asa  rose  just  enough  to  peer  back  over  his  shoulder  to  the  view  of  a  few  patrons  sipping  the  very  mimosas  audra  had  in  mind.  “  if  she's  working,  she  fancies  me.  ”   the  matter  -  of  -  fact  statement  came  with  a  slight  puff  of  his  chest  and  pride  that  had  conveniently  forgot  she  was  literally  paid  to  provide  excellent  service  that  came  with  a  smile.  “  do  you  think  she's  working  today  ?  ”

(   harris  dickinson   .   he  +  him   .)   ⊹   ₊   ⋆   was   that   ASA   MADISON  FISSORE  i   just   saw   at   the   BACCARAT  ?   the   THIRTY  year   old   AS  MONACO  FC'S  CENTER  FORWARD  has   been   living   in   monaco   for   EIGHT   YEARS  and   this   may   be   the   first   time   i’ve   seen   them   play   without   their   lucky   SAINT  SEBASTIAN  MEDAL  .   talk   around   the   tables   is   that   they   can   be   a   bit   SUPERSTITIOUS  ,   but   most   would   agree   it’s   a   gamble   worth   taking   if   you   catch   them   feeling   RESOLUTE  .   chatter   across   the   casino   floor   describes   them   as   COLLAPSING  ONTO  THE  STADIUM  FIELD  FROM  EXHAUSTION  INTO  THE  LATE  EVENING,  CHILDHOOD  MORALITIES  FADING  AND  MOLDED  BY WEALTH,  IMPOSTER  SYNDROME  DRESSED  UP  AS  GENEROSITY,  but   i’m   not   sure   how   much   of   that   i   buy   .   just   know   ,   the   next   time   you   hear   COULD  HAVE  BEEN  ME  by   THE  STRUTS  playing   around   you   ,   ASA  is   probably   hitting   their   lucky   streak   .

bubbling  suds  against  glass,  it  was  the  earliest  memory  he  could  recall.  not  much  older  than  four  with  a  toy  train  in  hand  loved  to  death  until  the  red  paint  flaked  off  and  bundled  in  a  coat  that  made  his  gait  almost  penguin  -  like.  asa  watched  his  father  leaving  rainbow  streaks  against  drying  glass.  occasionally  he'd  sit  in  the  front  seat  of  the  car  with  one  of  those  red  lollies  he'd  grow  to  detest,  but  it  was  always  the  same.  following  his  father  around.  then  school  came.  then  occasionally  stops  on  the  way  back  from  school,  between  jobs.  a  nice  couple  with  a  quaint  house,  sometimes  lavish,  and  a  garden.  they'd  exchange  whispers  with  his  father  who  always  would  tell  asa  ,  '  it's  time  to  go  '  after  that  particular  expression  came  to  his  face.  worry.  he  didn't  know  what  it  meant  then,  the  way  it  etched  lines  into  his  father's  forehead  promising  permanence,  but  he'd  shared  it  too.

eventually,  one  home  was  visited  more  often.  owned  by  a  young  woman  who  always  had  a  jar  of  sweets  kept  on  the  top  of  a  shelf  and  a  worn  soccer  ball  waiting  to  be  kicked  around.  asa's  father,  thomas,  liked  her  enough  with  frequent  visits  that  turned  into  lengthy  stays.  asa  was  seven  when  his  father  passed  away,  leaving  him  to  the  adoption  of  the  young  woman  he  called  nora  before  the  word  '  mum  '  ever  settled  comfortably  on  his  tongue.  maybe  it  never  would.  he  spent  the  first  year  every  day  after  school  trying  to  remember  the  route  his  father  took,  kicking  a  ball  up  and  down  the  pavement  with  the  same  worried  expression  etching  onto  his  face.  nora  had  noticed  it  then,  the  way  asa  seemed  to  keep  the  same  worn  ball  by  his  feet  at  the  dinner  table  and  on  his  walks  to  and  from  school.  the  only  way  asa  even  said  more  than  a  few  phrases  had  ever  been  to  do  with  that  ball  and  the  day  she  put  him  on  the  local  football  (soccer)  team.  it  was  small,  a  group  of  local  boys  and  half  of  them  far  too  big  for  asa  to  be  playing  with  them,  but  he  did.  he'd  come  home  bruised  with  grass  stains,  smiling  one  day  after  the  next.  this  went  on  until  he  was  about  thirteen.  ireland  was  exchanged  for  monaco.  scouted  during  a  trip  to  france  for  the  summer  to  visit  nora's  new  boyfriend,  a  man  asa  didn't  like  much.  he  was  pompous,  smelled  heavily  of  aftershave  and  wore  his  suits  a  smidge  too  small  like  they  had  shrunk  in  the  drier.  though,  he  was  better  than  the  last,  a  frequent  at  the  local  pub,  who  kept  his  attention  more  on  the  footie  game  on  the  screen  than  nora.  more  importantly,  he  was  a  man  who  could  offer  help.  not  for  asa,  scouting  meant  his  talent  could  carry  him,  but  nora?  she  couldn't  afford  to  stay,  not  without  help.

with  an  ans  agreement  quick  to  follow.  then,  at  fifteen,  he  joined  the  as  moanco  academy  and  the  rest  landed  him  with  the  stad  louis  ii  as  his  permanent  backdrop  to  daily  life  and  far  too  much  loyalty  to  leave,  even  if  there  are  other  and  likely  better  clubs  have  tried  to  pick  up  the  talent.  there  is  one  caveat  though,  a  promise  he  made  to  nora,  only  her,  not  to  the  man  who  gave  her  money,  though  it  could  be  said  it  was  made  to  him  too,  upon  his  retirement,  asa  would  go  back  to  school.  not  for  money,  not  for  some  cushioned  job  title,  but  for  principal.

he  took  nora's  surname  as  an  addition  to  madison  when  he  turned  eighteen,  maybe  he  couldn't  always  express  a  thank  you,  but  he  did  then,  in  his  own  way.

very  proud  of  his  own  spotify  playlist,  if  anyone  in  the  car  with  him  they  don't  get  a  vote.

he  has  hit  someone  on  the  head  with  a  football  (  soccer  ball  )  before  when  he  was  trying  to  flirt  and  get  their  attention,  don't  ask.

he  wouldn't  be  a  fc  player  if  he  wasn't  covered  in  some  questionable  ink,  and  asa  is  no  different  with  various  tattoos  on  his  arms,  torso  and  right  leg.
