guys i just. their assigned colors are complementary. their initials mirror each other. their dnd personas depend on each other. one of them disappeared and the other never gave up on looking for him. one of them is quiet but he thinks that talking to the other is always easy and the other is irritable and loud but he lowers his voice just for him and no one else. both of them are lonely but one of them saw the other on the swings in kindergarten and decided that he’d walk over there and ask him to be his friend. one of them thinks a friend is someone who always tells the truth and the other never lies to him even if it’s humiliating, even if he’s just been hurt, except that one time when he wanted to tell him that he loved him. one of them’s good at hiding and closing off but the other is good at noticing the nuance of his silences and seeking him, even through a thunderstorm. one of them thinks he’ll never fall in love and the other thinks all girls are grossed out by him so he’ll never grow up. one of them thinks the other doesn’t care what he says but the other notices every sigh he lets out and tells him that home isn’t home without him. one of them accepts the pain he endures and the other tells him that he doesn’t deserve anything bad happening to him ever. one of them appreciates the other’s drawings so much that he keeps them in a binder and hangs them all over his basement walls and the other doesn’t want anyone else narrating when they play fantasy games. one of them protests against societal expectations and expresses he’d spend his whole life with the other playing games, and the other remains quiet because he wants that too. they both feel like growing up is suffocating because they have to become something else. they both feel like they’re going crazy. their friendship is a shelter. their love is their nature, but their nature isn’t natural they think, so they hide and lie and they don’t call when one moves to a different state. one of them needs someone to need him and the other one will need him forever. they’ve known each other all their lives.
