Jumin Han was sitting in his room on his desk when he heard the door. A smile decorated his face when he heard your little footsteps. Jumin closed his eyes and enjoyed the moment. He loved to hear you enter the penthouse, get off your shoes and your jacket, and wash your hands. You always followed the same routine. As soon as you did these things, he would approach you and greet you. Today however, it was different. Something that wasn’t planned happened when Jumin Han closed his eyes.

He heard sniffles, no one took off their shoes, no one washed their hands. He just heard sniffles and that’s when he jumped up, and went out of his room, straight to the hall where he saw you. Your soft little body was sitting on the floor, your head and back leaned against the wall, and your arms were crossed in front of your face. You were sobbing, your body was trembling, and Jumin felt just so helpless. He didn’t know what to do and as if he couldn’t move, he observed you. But then his body finally moved on its own. Your husband quickly approached you and hugged your little body.

His hands were on your back. You were hugging his strong body by now, crying into his neck and wetting his skin while your head was laying on his shoulders. Jumin stroked and patted your trembling back, whispering in your ear, ,,There there… don’t cry…’’ By now he was holding you in his arms. ,,Mc, are you hurt? Did something happen?’’ he asked you, concerned. He lightly pushed you away so that he could look in your eyes, they were red and puffy and he was holding your chin up with his fingers. Tears were falling down and they didn’t stop. With trembling lips, you said in a hoarse voice that you had a bad day. ,,I just… felt so bad. The day was so bad. Everything went wrong and every possible thing happened,’’ you sobbed and hiccuped louder. Jumin nodded and slowly got up from the cold floor.

,,Come on, my love,’’ he said with a gentle voice and washed your hands as well as your face. ,,Let me wash away your little tears… you know, I should maybe take a bag and try to collect your tears. I think they will become pearls because they’re just so precious… like in the drama, what was its name…?’’ You chuckled a bit ,,Jumin, that was ,,The Legend of Blue Sea and she was a mermaid,’’ you explained. Jumin smiled as he achieved what he wanted. His next step was to make you change clothes into something comfortable and then place you on the couch. Like a little flower, he cared for you and kissed your face, continuing to smile at you; a gesture that made you feel just so loved.

,,I will take a blanket,  make us a hot tea, and bring the stuff you like, like popcorn, cookies and…’’ he didn’t finish his sentence, ,,Can I have ice cream with strawberries, chocolate over it with some cookie crunches? I mean, you don’t have to,’’ you mumbled. But Jumin smiled at you. ,,Your wish is my command. I will order food later on. The chef will make us something, okay?’’ he smiled and then went into the kitchen. Ever since you moved in, you began to cook his meals so the cook was only needed when neither of you wanted to do anything or go out for dinner. And so, Jumin did what he asked for, putting the ice cream in two bowls and melting the chocolate. He washed the strawberries and began to crush the cookies. And while he was preparing the dish you asked for, Jumin heard the intro of Netflix, making him smile. He knew that right now you didn’t want to talk and it was okay. He knew that you needed your time and he understood. Instead, he wanted to make you happy now, and later, when the time was right, he would listen to you and all your worries and problems of the day.

I’m lost and tired haha..

“ehhh, i didn’t know this was part of the homework.! I’m so screwed” you whined. the new courses and the fact that classes were named using codes, A113? E200? was not helping at all. Classes were split into different timings and it was hard to keep track. Locations may vary from classes to classes and that’s how you walked into the wrong building while trying to get to class within the last 9 minutes. and that’s the very reason why you were sitting in front of xiao during lunch break and whining to him about all these issues.

“It’s just so complicated! I live so close to campus, yet I reach class later than those who lives miles away and never set foot here! It’s so frustrating!” Xiao chuckled softly, soft enough that you couldn’t hear. Spending 2 weeks together due to projects, going to each other’s places and cafes to work on a project for hours on end, brought the both of you closer and more familiar with one another. Amber eyes glanced at you ever so quickly, the fleeting gazes were easily missed as you were so into the current menu of the day. His gaze softened as your favourite meal was displayed in front of you and you happily exclaimed “Thank you for the food!” Xiao then cleared his throat and mumbled quietly, “well, do you want me to remind you the night before?” You shot up, thinking he was going to call you as such.

Recently you have heard about the popularity of Xiao, and the fact that he is doing this is making you flustered and afraid of the piercing gazes of the individuals eyeing the seat you were in, opposite xiao. “N-no.! I think I’m fine! I uh.. I can always check the schedule and ask the different course mates if I need to!” Xiao was about to tell you that he is your course mate, and also the fact that he is your partner for the semester exam makes things even more important and the fact that he is more significant than the others in reminding you. But also he does not want to doubt your capabilities, hence he said nothing, nodded and continued sipping his tea. As if you jinxed yourself, a few days later, what you anticipated, happened.

The night before, you asked a course mate what time is the lesson tomorrow. Since she was always in the same class as you, you assumed that the timings would be the same, 1.30pm, start of class. Oh how very wrong you were. Your lesson was different from the others but same as Xiao, who was at 8.30am. Xiao messaged you the night before,

Let’s meet an hour before class, at the front of the school gate. We can have some time to prepare the notes and stuff. I can also teach you the formulas of which you don’t know.

You replied with a simple 👌🏻, tossed your phone on the nightstand and went to sleep. The day was hectic already, with you running around campus trying to find the right locations for the design laboratory. The moment you reached home, you were beat and after finishing all your chores you were ready to succumb to sleep.

The next morning, Xiao waited at the station. It was 55 minutes before lesson and you were nowhere to be seen. Xiao checked his messages that he sent last night to you, he clearly stated an hour. Why weren’t you here? You always showed up earlier than him all flustered and hugging the notes so adorably. Wait adorably? What is he even thinking. Xiao shook his head furiously, pulled his beanie down till it covered his eyes for a moment. He would not get into this. He is just a simple, SIMPLE project partner. Coming back to the situation, Xiao felt something was wrong, he called you several times, no answer. Why? IT WAS 45 minutes before lesson, what if..

Xiao, without hesitation, sprinted for the nearest bus to your house. Blood pounding in his ears as he ran towards your house. Reminding himself it’s not because he cares about you but the fear of being marked absent and affecting his grades, he rushed to your place. Spamming the doorbell, he called out to your name. “(Y/n)!” Hearing footsteps behind the door, Xiao heaved a sigh of relief. The door slowly opened to a groggy half awoken you. Silk pyjamas hung loosely to your body, bed hair standing tall and proud. Xiao can’t help but grin at your cute and sleepy form.

You blinked, not once, not twice but thrice. Your eyes widened and Xiao swore he might be in a comedy vie because of how you reacted. You back peddled at full speed straight to a cupboard and screamed at the highest you could muster. “What are you doing here!?”

part 1 because this popped up out of nowhere.

I’m writing to improve my English in an environment I’m fine with. I’m not sure how drabbles or headcannons work anymore if someone’s kind enough please explain to me.

everyone wanted to be near him. he looked so cold and mysterious, yet appearance wise made him extremely popular. many had tried to woo him, trying to get him to like them, forceful methods and so on. no one ever succeeded because he had literately the strongest iron walls that no one could penetrate.

xiao could barely understand why would anyone wanted to be with him, be friends with him at the very least. he looks so depressing already, his replies are all short and curt and sounded like bullets to another party. appearance? what even has this world become.

when you got partnered to him, he thought you were either giggling to the other obviously jealous girls and guys in the lecture hall or facepalming yourself because you are working with someone who seems to barely participate in class. but as he glanced over, you were doing neither. you were just desperately clambering to your notes and trying not to make them fall while waking to sit beside him for the rest of the term.

when you greeted him you sounded so shy and flustered. and you tripped over your words, your face reddened and your fingers fidget so much to an extent it looked like you were trying to break it. and when you asked what’s his name, he was momentarily taken aback, you had to wave to get his attention. when he regained consciousness he asked if you were kidding.

immediately he regretted it because you looked momentarily down for a moment. yeah you get it, you were not a genius or have a memory of an elephant, you wouldn’t remember the introduction of every single student in the course you were in, you were staring out of the window getting distracted by the stubbornly blue sky making the lecture hall the temperature of a literate oven. heck, you didn’t even know when the lecturer even called you, your friend had to flick a pen over. xiao immediately leaned over and asked, do you not hear the rumours?

the proximity was too close for your liking, and you were taken aback. nonetheless, you shook your head vigorously and xiao gave the slightest of a smile. happy, you were not like the others who literally pray to god, or archons everyday, just because they breathe the same air as him.

After tiredness comes honesty

Diluc suppressed a yawn, eyelids heavy with tiredness. He was constantly under enormous stress because of his work in the winery, in the tavern, every now and then fights as 'Darknight hero' at night, etc.

Fortunately, his duties were reduced thanks to his reliable workers, but he still couldn't really rest.

After all, he can't spend time with his lover when he's sleeping. And that was what he longed for the most, to walk around the city with you, to show you his favorite places, to go out to eat at a restaurant.

But he was too exhausted.

The redhead stood in front of your shared house with his arms crossed as he waited for your return. That's the least he could do to at least see a small smile on your face.

However, he only saw a pout.

With your hands on your hips, you approached your lover. "Diluuuuuc...Why aren't you in bed?", You frowned and tilted your head, "You look so exhausted..."

Your previous expression was replaced with a worried one as you put your hands on his cheeks. Diluc literally melted when your warm hands reached his face. It was so pleasant for him.

Involuntary his eyelids closed a bit further and he sighed softly.

You couldn't help but giggle, but your worried look stayed on your face. Slowly you removed your hands from his cheeks and took his hands in yours. With your head tilted to one side, you pulled him into the house.

Without protesting in any way, he followed you.

When you got to your couch, you sat Diluc down on it, but when you wanted to go into the kitchen, Diluc stopped you by grabbing your arm.

His cheeks were slightly flushed and his gaze was averted from you as he asked, "Can we...cuddle a little...?"

Without saying a word, you sat down next to the red-haired male and let him rest his head on your chest. You untied his braid and started combing your fingers through his hair.

Diluc loved it. He loved it so much.

He could feel your warmth enveloping him. It invited him to fall asleep right then and there, but he didn't want to.

Diluc looked up at you, the smile you gave him made him smile too. A rare sight, even for you. "You are so beautiful..." you whispered and brushed one of his red strands from your face.

He hummed at your words and pressed his cheek a little more into your chest.

"You always say things like that about me...", he began with a hint of sadness in his voice, "you do so much for me...am I doing enough for you?"

Your eyes met again and you open your mouth to answer him, but he cut you off. "I'm busy all the time, have hardly any time for myself, let alone for you."

He wrapped his arms around your torso and carefully pulled you closer to himself.

"I find it hard to put my feelings into words...And I doubt my actions are doing a better job." He kept muttering, not even really realizing that he was saying all that.

"(Y/N)...I want to spend more time with you,...see your smile more often,...hear you laugh more often..."

You slowly lay down while listening to him. Your heart beat a little faster with every word he said.

Diluc has never been open with his feelings, you always had to read a little between the lines. That Diluc just told you what was going on in his head was more than just a positive surprise.

"I love you...I love you so much...that it hurts...", Diluc's voice and breath became a little shaky and you could feel a wetness on your chest.

Diluc was crying.

"I love you for everything you've done for me...All your words...All the sleepless nights when you didn't leave my side...For- for-"

He got no further, his sobs kept interrupting him. The redhead grabbed your clothes tightly as he tried to stop crying.

You squeezed him tighter as your own tears slowly rolled down your cheeks.

"Let it out, Diluc, let it out," you told him. Immediately he began to sob loudly. He just gripped the fabric of your clothes tighter, as if you were going to disappear if he let go even a tiny bit.

Your hearts were beating almost in sync while a huge wave of emotions flooded you.

You kissed his head over and over again. "I love you too, Diluc, more than anything else. You don't even notice how much you're doing for me..." you whispered in a shaky voice.

After a while, Dilucs fell silent and his grip loosened. He fell asleep.

You gave him one last kiss and grabbed a blanket that was on the table next to you. You carefully placed it over both of you and continued to run your fingers through his hair

"Were you that tired...?", You asked quietly, with a slight scratch, but soft laugh in your voice, "You need a vacation, baby..."

You rubbed the dried tears off your face, all of that was the last thing you expected.

You started to hum a little melody while you were making plans in your head for a possible vacation for Diluc and you.

Apparently, you had learned of Diluc’s latest heroics while he was away. Truthfully, at the moment, Diluc didn’t think anything of it, himself. It was just another day for him. A “must be Tuesday” type of thing.

His lack of regard for the day’s events lasted up until he heard the door of the tavern slam against the wall while his back was turned. Annoyed, he turned to the door, expecting one of the decor pieces to have crashed to the floor as a result.

Expecting to see a man who had one too many entering the once empty space, he was pleasantly surprised to see you there instead. His small grin, however, was replaced by a confused expression to see you positively fuming.

“Something wrong, (Y/N)?” He questioned.

“The audacity you have, Diluc…” You started. “I can’t believe you!” You continued. He had no idea what had gotten you so worked up today. 

“I’m sorry? I don’t quite follow.” 

“I heard about what happened on your latest mission. Care to, uh, elaborate on that?” You prodded. 

Diluc shrugged, wiping dry a freshly washed glass. “Not really anything to note. Just another day.“

You couldn’t believe your ears. "So you mean to tell me,” you began, “that you almost dying is ‘nothing to note’ and 'just another day’? What about the people here? The people that care about, that love, you?” You ranted.

He scoffed. “What, like Kaeya?”

You could feel yourself tense up and your face grow hot, as you stormed over to the bar. “You just—!” You jabbed your finger into his chest, “You go out there and risk your life! And you pay no mind to the feelings of anyone else, Diluc! You don’t even spare a thought to the fact that maybe, just maybe, there were people that wanted you to come home at the end of the day.”

You had absolutely no idea where you were going with this. You know you had no authority over him. He was a grown man. Sure, you were close. He was your friend. At least you liked to think so. Even so, you knew that all those late nights helping him close up shop at the end of the day probably didn’t mean as much to him as they did to you. All those moments you spent in each other’s company taking care of things around the winery or tavern, or even just being there in each other’s company as he took care of his paperwork. He probably didn’t even give them a second thought. That being said, you couldn’t stop yourself from letting him have a piece of your mind regarding his heroics.

He just stared at you. He tried to wrap his mind about why you cared so much but he kept drawing blanks. You knew this was what he did. But only as of recently did you ever seem to express disdain towards his bravery.

You continued, “I just can’t fathom why you feel this need to be so selflessly idiotic.” You backed him into the bar, both hands on either side of his body. Looking down, you took a deep breath before staring back into his crimson eyes.

You felt so immensely stupid. Who were you to lecture the man standing before you? You knew how strong he was. You knew he could take care of himself.

You studied his face as he looked back at you. His eyes, usually full of seriousness with a hint of wit, were this time filled with utter confusion.

You brought your face closer to his, enunciating your words carefully, “Do you even think for a second about the consequences that come with going out there all the time?” Your eyes flicked down to his lips and, before you could even stop yourself, you brought your mouth to meet his, eyes screwed shut. All the emotions you felt, the anger and hurt at his blatant disregard for his life, just got poured into the kiss.

You felt Diluc tense initially in response, but after what felt like a millisecond passed, he found his composure and relaxed. Bringing his hands up to your fists that had balled up the front of his shirt, he held your hands in place on his chest. When you opened your eyes, lips still on his, you regained your common sense and your eyes went wide as saucers. Not a second later you pulled away.

“I—” You backed away, looking down and fixing a few out of place stands of your hair. “I’m so sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking. I… I didn’t mean to do that.” You said in shame.

Diluc bent down to meet your eyes. “You didn’t mean to kiss me?” He deadpanned. Could you hear a bit of a smile in his voice?

You couldn’t bare to make eye contact with him. “… No.” You said in a small voice.

“I see.” He responded. He could see the regret on your face, even though you wouldn’t meet his eyes. “Hey…” He continued, guiding you to face him, his fingers under your chin. “It’s fine. Honestly.”

You felt so vulnerable, your face in his hands, and when you finally found it in you to make eye contact, you saw that his eyes were softer than you were used to seeing.

Unexpectedly, he leaned toward you, looking to you for permission to continue his advances. When your eyes fluttered closed, he took that as wordless agreement and softly touched his lips to yours. It was chaste. The touch was almost feather light. As he brushed his thumb over your cheekbones you felt your body unwittingly melt into his touch.

When he pulled away and your eyes opened again, you couldn’t help but let a small smile grace your lips. “And I, ” Diluc began with a smirk, “didn’t mean to do that, either.”

hazy shapes sharpen into the decipherable silhouettes of your funiture as your eyes slowly adjust to the darkness. lying in suffocating silence, you listen as the intruder shuffles around. the logical part of you warns of the potential dangers, yet you succumb to irrationality and close your eyes, mind drifting off into a blank void of nothingness as sleep prods at you, tempting you into its inky arms.

feeling the mattress dip, your eyes shoot open, alarmed, but immediately relax when the scent of a familiar cologne envelopes you. a hand delicately brushes wayward strands of your hair off your face as soft lips press against your forehead, before the extra weight vanishes, footsteps padding off into the direction of the bathroom.

eyes fluttering close again, you snuggle into your cocoon of blankets as you wait patiently for your lover to join you. as seconds bleed into minutes, you consider giving up as you fight a losing battle with hypnos, who was adamant on lulling you to sleep.

finally, the sheets crinkle, whispering into the tranquility of the room as kaeya eases himself under the covers. eyes shut, you fumble around blindly for him, and he skims his hands along your outstretched arms, pulling you into his chest, letting out a hum when he feels the reassuring warmth of your skin against his.

"hi." you mumble, pressing a kiss under his jaw. kaeya chuckles, a mellow sound that has you melting against him. "hello to you too, sweetheart."

although your voice is slurred and indistinct, you try to ask him about his day but he hushes you, tightening his arms around you as if he was afraid of losing you. kaeya simply basks in your presence, slowly slipping into the realm of dreams as he concentrates on the sound of your steady breaths.

The wind carried your voice that called out his name. In an instant, he presented himself in front of you. Amber eyes darted around the area, the yaksha’s grip on his polearm slackening when he realised that there was no danger in sight.

“We wanted to invite you to spend the day with us,” you explained, picking up on his confusion. “Paimon and I prepared a picnic on top of the mountains.”

The yaksha raised a brow. “You wanted to spend the day with me?”

"Is that okay?” you smiled bashfully.

Although he would normally reject such silly requests, Xiao found it difficult to dissipate into the air and leave you alone. Besides, you mentioned that you planned to eat on top of a mountain which could be dangerous. With much reluctance, he accompanied the two of you. Though when you finally reached the top, he was too in awe to complain.

“Isn’t it pretty?” Paimon’s starry eyes shone, eagerly awaiting the yaksha’s approval. “Paimon and (Y/n) came across this view while collecting qingxins! We thought you would like it!”

“A vantage point to view the scenery together…” Xiao muttered to himself, observing the skyward scene and the wafting waterfalls that welled out from the heights. “The swirling sea of clouds will make for a beautiful sight. You have my thanks.”

Even with his usual crossed arms and tight frown, the faint fragment of a smile insighted a sparkle in the depth of your eyes. Paimon wasted no time in snatching the picnic basket from your grasp, causing her to comically stumble thanks to the heavy weight of the contents.

“Paimon!” you reprimanded her before reaching for the basket to help her.

Xiao watched as you two arranged the feast. He eyed the array of goodies, sensing a motif in the feast you prepared. Almond tofu, grilled tiger fish and a strange dish he had not seen. Xiao picked up the foreign food and sampled it while you bickered with Paimon for hoarding the meal. The cooling taste of mint invigorated his tongue, refreshing like bathing in a cold lake after a hot day. The bouncy and springy texture reminded him of his favourite almond tofu; perhaps that was the reason you chose to serve this dish.

“Do you like it? I learned how to make it during the Windblume Festival in Mondstadt,” you pried your eyes away from Paimon to observe the adeptus’ reaction. “I thought that everyone would give you almond tofu today so I wanted my gift to be something special.”

So you remembered his birthday. He told you that he thought that birthdays are nothing but meaningless. Despite that, you took the effort to prepare a meal for him. What a peculiar being you are.

“I do not care much for birthdays and celebrations and I do not wish to be around large groups of people,” sharp amber irises softened, staring into yours with an uncharacteristic fondness. “To be able to spend time with you is enough.”

Your tensed features revealed a gentleness in response to his words. He adored that about you. You are a strong creature, able to bring dragons to submission. Yet you are also kind. You selflessly work to help humans and adepti alike. As such, it's no surprise that you are loved by Liyue. You are loved by him. Your hand reaches out to graze against his glove.

you frown at that, holding her closer to you, “i feel bad about leaving you alone here.”

“truly, i never thought that the heavens would have granted me a blessing such as you,” she breathes out, turning her head slightly to press her lips against the skin of your wrist. you soften at that. mona megistus was rarely an affectionate person in public (not that you ever minded, of course) but there were times where she allowed herself to display her overwhelming fondness and love for you in the safety and solitude  of your shared home. such moments were soft and gentle, and everything you thought you never needed.

“let me stay with you,” you murmur, quiet and barely heard, as if raising your voice to its average volume would shatter the precious air of this moment. mona smiles, eyes crinkling into crescents as she nods.

“alright.”

she doesn’t seem to mind when you settle against her side, wrapped in a fluffy blanket and laying your head on a pillow she had allowed you to put on her lap. anyone who knew mona megistus would have thought they were dreaming if they saw you both in this position but, then again, they didn’t really know her. not as much as you do, at least.

You shouted in surprise and began to wrestle him off, leading to the two of you play fighting. “And here I thought you would be too tired to wrestle,” he grinned, pushing against you. 

“I’m not that tired cause someone didn’t let me sleep enough to get there!” you retorted, trying to use your feet to throw him off. You gasped when you felt the coldness of his skin. 

“Quit touching me, your feet are cold!” you protested. But to no avail, he used it to his advantage. It took a good minute for you to throw the match, succumbing to his arms. 

The two of you were out of breath from laughing and playful words, feeling the exhaustion seep into your bones. “Can we nap now?” you asked, looking over at Kaeya, who was very much in the same state as you. 

“Yeah...let me just...catch my breath,” he laughed, turning to you. You took the invitation to wiggle into his embrace, careful to avoid his offending toes. 

“I can work later,” he mumbled, eyes already closing. You hummed and felt yourself also slipping into sleep. 

Yeah, mid-afternoon naps are the best ones. Especially when you had Kaeya to keep you company as you sleep.

“It’s alright.” You said, but soon he swept in and pressed another kiss to your lips. You blushed.

“...You know I love you, right?” He said softly. You nodded, but then he shook his head.

That was all he said, even though he had a thousand more things he wanted to say hidden behind his eyes. He couldn’t open up, no matter how hard he tried, but this was a start.

You didn’t mind, though. You would wait for him. You would wait as long as you had to for him to say everything he wanted to say. And so, you leaned in and kissed him once more, and he gladly kissed back.

There was no question you were a kind person, that fact was apparent by how much the townspeople loved you - especially the children 

Often you’d be surrounded by the children of Mondstadt as they tug and pull at your arms, begging you to give them your attention

“Y/N!” one of the girls ran up to you, their arms spread wide and a huge grin on their face. 

“Hello, Sophia,” you called back to them, scooping them up from the ground. 

“Look what I made the other day!” she presented a small ornament to you, its shape was a little difficult to make out, but something was charming about it - and the dedication she put into it was apparent. 

“Sophia! This is amazing!” You take the small object in your hands and hold it up to the light. “How do you keep getting better and better at these?!” you look at her and she’s beaming from ear to ear. You can see the pride glowing in her. 

A few other children come to you shortly after and each one of them shares with you something exciting they did,  made, or accomplished. Eventually, you find yourself sitting on the ground by the fountain surrounded by giddy faces. 

You just had this natural caringness about you, as well as a heart that empathized with them - you never raised your voice, you always encouraged them, you supported their wishes and ideas - you were their constant cheerleader and they loved you for it

“You sure are popular with children,” Kaeya chimes in after you send the kids on their way. 

“Yeah,” you stand up and brush your hands together, dust disappearing in the breeze, “I just want to support them. They all deserve someone, and sometimes it only needs to be one someone.” You look at the Favonious knight and see his warm smile. 

“That’s right, only one.” he strokes your face. 

Kaeya loves the fact that you are caring to others, that you take the time to support everyone no matter who they were

Even before the two of you started dating he noticed how attached the kids are to you - and it warmed his heart. He knew the challenges of being a child, especially an orphaned child 

how he had wished someone like you would have been there for him when he was small 

Someone to encourage him and motivate him - of course, he was so thankful for the Ragnvindr family, he’d never be able to repay them for what they did - but still, if the world was filled with more people like you, he wondered how many children would grow up smiling and happy 

“Do you ever get tired of being there for them?” Kaeya asked, his voice soft. 

“Hmm, nope!” Your smile is blinding, “Even on my tired days, seeing their smiling faces and hearing how they are learning new things builds me back up. I just want them all to succeed!”

When the two of you started dating it was a magical time. Being able to rely on one another and be each other's person; was just such an unbelievable experience 

The only hiccup was how protective the children became when the news reached their ears 

“Hey everyone!” you gathered them around on one of those sweet summer days, eager to share with them the news. “I have something to tell you,” you wait a while for their excitement to die down. Their giggles and questions warming your heart. “You know the Cavalry Captain, Kaeya, right?” 

“YEAH!” they say in unison, and you look back to Kaeya who is standing just a bit away. 

“Well, he and I are together now.” 

The reaction you get is mixed. Some of the girls jump up and down squealing, a couple shocked. The boys are the most vocal, their questions and confusion spilling over the group. 

“Woah, Woah, one at a time…” the laughter in your chest breaks apart their cascading voices. 

“That guy!?” one of the boys points at Kaeya, “You’re dating that guy!?” 

“Hey now, I’m an excellent person.” Kaeya retorts as he makes his way toward you all. 

“But you’re so ... OLD.” The comment shoots Kaeya in the heart, he bends forward as if someone hit him in the back, hard.

“I don’t like it.” the little boy says again and crosses his arms. There are other comments made to, or about, the two of you before one child walks up to Kaeya and points harshly at him. 

“LISTEN, vavonious knight, you better not hurt Y/N! They are my vavorite and if you make them cry … then I’ll cry … and I’ll be mad at you.” Their face is red as they attempt to get their point across. 

Kaeya kneels down to their level, his expression calm and thoughtful. 

“I vow,” he raises his hand, “as a member of the knights of Favonious to make Y/N happy each and every day, for they too are my favorite person.” 

“Pinky promise?” 

“Ah yes, I pinky promise, and we all know these are stronger than even a knight's vow” the two wrap their pinky fingers around one another and shake, solidifying the promise. 

And like that, the floodgates open. Each child runs to Kaeya sticking their pinky’s in his face with different promises he’s required to make now that you and their ‘big sister’ are together. 

He looks at you with panic in his eyes, a desperate HELP ME as he is now surrounded by countless wiggling fingers. You can’t help him though, since you’re laughing much too hard. 

Weeks later Kaeya returns to you exhausted 

“You’ve got to do something about these kids,” he sighs, plopping on the couch next to you. 

“What have they done now?” 

“I cannot make it through the city without them making me pinky promise something new. My finger feels like it’s about to break off!” He shows you his hand to emphasize his comment. 

“I’ll do my best to talk about it with them tomorrow, but you better believe they will keep an eye on you, children have the most impressive memories.” You lean your head on his shoulder and hold his hand in your own.

Xiao was getting more and more tired as the days were passing by. His work as an adeptus was getting more and more sloppy, and even Childe, out of all people in this world, was starting to worry about his state. But he was still waiting for you to come back to the Inn, every night, until the sun rose again.

He got what he wanted. You weren't there, and he thought his feelings would vanish. But he just got exhausted, and tired, and a feeling of pure desperation was lingering in his chest every time he left to go to Liyue Harbor.

It was a rainy night, two in the morning to be exact. Xiao came back to his room, drenched in rain water, cold and exhausted. He stopped in front of the door. But you were standing in the middle of the room. Your hair was a little messy, and your clothes torn up at some places, but you still looked beautiful. You always did. You looked at him, eyes filled with worry as you took a step in his direction.

"Xiao… what happened to you?"

He must've looked horrible for you to say that. It's been days since he slept, and he spent hours in the rain fighting enemies he couldn't care less about. But right now, everything seemed so far away. You were here. That's what mattered.

So he hesitantly took a few steps forward, not breaking eye contact for a second. Next thing you knew, Xiao's arms were tightly wrapped around you and his head was buried in your neck. You were so warm, so familiar. He felt as his heart was about to burst. He missed you so much, in a way that made his heart ache.

You froze at the touch and for a moment he thought maybe you came here to tell him why you left. Did you hate him now? Was your warmth turning into a fire? Was he burning?

But a half a second later you pressed your body against his, arms secured around his neck and he melted.

Xiao's grip tightened around you, and he was silently praying for you not to disappear again. He wanted to explain so much, to just let his feelings flow until everything was out in the open, until he was crying for your eyes only. But he was so tired, and the words he wanted to tell you were too strong to be conveyed in any language. So he just whispered, voice hoarse:

"I'm so sorry."

Your hands went up to his hair. Xiao shuddered at the contact. He craved your touch for so long, longer than he ever imagined. Maybe he desired it all his life, maybe he was just waiting for you all this time. He liked those maybes.

"It's okay, I'm sorry too."

Your voice was so sweet, almost like a song, a distant melody. He didn't know what you were sorry for, it was his fault after all. But it was okay. It was okay. It was okay.

You were okay.

And just like that, a tear slipped out of his eye. Xiao, adeptus, guardian of Liyue, was crying in the arms of the person he cherished the most. He didn't know why he was tearing up. Exhaustion, relief, affection… he was new to feelings, and they were all oh so confusing. But you were here.

So you two stumbled on his bed in silence, Xiao's head resting on your chest as he listened to your heartbeat and your hand stroking his hair.

His mind was filled with unintelligible thoughts a few minutes, a few days, a few weeks before. But right now? He never felt more at peace in your arms, like a shield. He disliked being so vulnerable. But it was you, so he didn't really mind.

When the sun will rise up again, he'll apologize properly. He'll tell you what he always wanted to say, and will articulate what was eating him for so long. However, the moon was still high in the sky and his heart was pouring out of the edges of himself, something that never happened before.

Xiao was careful, but not right now. He didn't want to be, he didn't need to be. So the words slipped out like a tornado's last breath.

"I love you."

When Zhongli showed up at the front door of yours and Ganyu’s shared home, it was safe to say you were worried. Especially since after he greeted you, he stated there was a situation that required your help quite urgently. Gold eyes looked down at you apologetically as he explained that something had happened to Xiao as a result of the traveller and him upsetting some old mage in Bishui Plains. Eyes wide with curiosity and mind running wild with the possibilities of what might have happened to your fellow Adeptus, you quickly followed Zhongli and the traveller to Wangshu Inn, ready to summon your weapon and fight. Above all, you were afraid that Xiao may have lost his fight to the demons and voices that roared and screamed in his head. Both you and Ganyu had seen first hand what karmic debt did to the strongest of Yakshas. Each step closer was another stab of worry that ran through your blood. You and Xiao were not the best of friends, more like good acquaintances. And yet, you found yourself in the company of the brooding Vigilant Yaksha when you did not want to seek out the Adepti in Jueyun Karst and your sister was busy. Though he was aloof and preferred the peace and quiet of Wangshu Inn, he made no complaints when you sought out his company on lonely nights. You knew, that deep down, the depths of your old heart, you had fallen for the Adeptus thousands of years ago.

“I must warn you, Xiao is not—” Zhongli began as the three of you stood on the balcony, your eyes darting around trying to catch sight of the Adeptus.

“Hello darling.” A gust of wind blew from behind and you whirled around, nearly screaming in shock at how close Xiao was standing to you. Your hands raised to press to his chest to push him away when you stopped short. Your hands were on his chest. 

His bare chest.

Wolvendom was a wonderful place. It was ruled by nature, and the only people with true powers over the lands were the wolves. Wolvendown was a paradise lost, and there may not be peace but there was quiet.

Quiet that was violently disturbed by the four men trying to keep you company.

"Diluc, it's way too hot already so why don't you just scoot aside and let me walk next to them?" asked Kaeya in the most fake, honeyed tone you ever heard him use.

The red-haired man just rolled his eyes, never leaving your side.

"Beware, freezing the honorary knight would damage your notorious playboy's reputation."

"Ah, seems like their relationship is quite… frosty." said Venti, turning to face you. "Did you get it, Y/N?"

"I don't think they care about your jokes." interrupted Albedo while walking closer to you, maybe fearing the bard will take his place.

The urge to sigh has never been stronger, but you held it in for the sake of not having four men - or should you say four years old? - starting to believe you're going to faint as soon as you step in the sunlight.

The more this commission carried on, the more you asked yourself how you ended up like this. At first, you were just going to ask Huffman to give you some supplies to help you defeat the hilichurls you'll meet in the way. But then Kaeya heard you were going for a few days, and if Kaeya heard about it, then Venti did too, Venti who told Diluc and Diluc who talked about it in front of Albedo.

I mean, that's what you assumed, because each of them had some dramatic tale about how they just wanted to help you and spend some time with you.

It's not like you didn't want to spend time with them, but your commission was near Dawn's Winery and you took the longcut through Wolvendom to spend time alone with someone else.

And that someone else was currently trailing behind your party, greyish hair falling in his face as looking down on the path.

So as Diluc, Venti, Kaeya and Albedo were bickering, you slipped away from the light grasp the pyro and geo men had on you to join him.

Razor lifted his head as soon as he heard your footsteps and almost immediately, a toothy grin appeared on his face. He always smiled when you were around, and the fact he never smiled that wide in front of someone else made your heart beat a little faster than it usually did.

You started walking at his side, automatically adapting to his speed. Maybe out of habits, you two go on walks around the land way more often than necessary, and Venti often complained you weren't so outdoorsy when it came to take a stroll with him.

"So… why are you walking behind? I know they can be a lot but they're nice. Mostly." you finally said after a moment of silence.

Razor didn't met your gaze as he spoke, hands loosely gripped around his sword.

"They use… big words. Don't understand." he simply answered.

You hummed in understanding, even if you knew it was not a total truth. He was nervously playing with his necklace, which was a complete tell, but if he didn't want to tell you it was fine.

"That's because Kaeya believe he's royalty." you just said, earning a small laugh from Razor.

You casually brushed you fingers against his as you walked, and you didn't know if it was a trick coming from the light or if the wolf boy really blushed from the contact. You quietly hoped it was the latter as his calloused hand hesitantly hovered near yours.

"Listen, I know they are… a lot. But you have me, okay? And it's not four idiots who are going to change-"

"Y/N! We found a good place to camp for tonight!" called Albedo from afar.

You sighed and reluctantly removed your hand from Razor's almost grasp. The night was going to be long.

"... and that's how I befriended him." finished Venti.

The stars were shining high in the night sky as you could almost see any constellations existing. The five of you decided to set camp under a willow near a small lake. So the fire was roaring, so the stories began, filled with animated storytelling and grand gestures.

"I still can't believe you befriended… a whale. Out of all animals in this world." commented Diluc.

A laugh escaped your lips, and Venti smiled proudly before continuing. I guess you have a lifetime worth of stories when you are immortal - and a bit too talkative.

While he was speaking, you watched Razor from the corner of your eyes. He was sitting behind the tree, watching the sky, and way too far away from the group. From you. So you got up.

"Excuse me for a second, I need to check on Razor."

He didn't look up when you reached him, favoring braiding the grass at his feet. So you watched, slowly sliding against the smooth surface of the willow to sit next to him. For a moment, there was just a comfortable silence (because silence with Razor was never uncomfortable) before the grey-haired boy spoke up.

"Will… they stay long?" he asked.

You knew exactly who he was talking about.

"Until the end of the commission, I think."

He growled, and aggressively continued his braiding, almost making you laugh. But he was upset, and surely didn't want someone he cared about to laugh at his face right now.

"You don't like them?"

"They are loud. Protect you too much."

You frowned in confusion, your eyes not leaving him.

"What do you mean 'protect me too much'?"

Razor looked at you from behind a few strands of his hair, so you tucked them behind his ear. He froze up and, realizing your gesture, you did too. You two stayed like that for a few seconds before you moved away. To be honest, you were afraid the motion was maybe a little too sudden for him, who still had to get used to actual human touch.

But he gripped your wrist as you retrieved your hand.

"Protect you too much. You… take care of yourself, or I take care of you. Not them." he said, clearly trying to find the right words.

So you silently encouraged him, a small smile stretching your lips.

"Me and you. Not them."

Your heart skipped a beat when you realized what he meant. Your smile widens as you carefully touch his cheek, his hands still on your wrist. He leans into the touch without another word.

"Yeah, me and you." you answered.

A few minutes later, his head was on your shoulder as you stroked his hair. You two didn't say a word, but it's not like you needed to. You stared at him. The slight light of the campfire was illuminating his red eyes, and you wished you could kiss his scars away. But right now, you just sat here, taking advantage of this moment and listening to the white noise. Or the conversation near the fire.

"When is Y/N coming back?" asked Kaeya.

"They're with Razor, so don't expect them to come back until someone drags them." answered Albedo.

"Yeah, that's not fair. Whenever Razor's here we just lose their attention. Do I have to live in a forest to keep their eyes on me? I would." complained Venti in a sigh.

"That's because Razor is their favorite, we can't do anything about that."

You laughed and the wolf boy quietly put an arm around your waist. Yeah, Razor was your favorite, and nothing will ever change that.
