yes i am 100% in the camp that people need to f/o more dark-skinned characters but lemme lay downs some other bare minimum things that yall arent really doing:

be critical of the characters youre f/oing. some of yall are getting attracted to literal walking caricatures of black people

be critical of the way said character is treated in canon. are they hypersexualized? do they often get whitewashed? are they treated as equals with the lighter-skinned members of the cast? etc

do not be Weird about them. this includes often portraying them with animalistic traits in your ship, treating them as overly flirtatious and sex-driven when they are Not Like That in canon, being weird about their culture or stuff

and im certain theres more too that just doesnt come to mind right now but yall need to be more mindful of how youre treating your darker-skinned f/os
