a/n: fingers crossed im hoping the tags work i've posted this twice last week huhu but anyways i'm in my soft hee hours today.

lee heeseung always comes home in the late hours of the night.

it’s exhausting, and it always has been for as long as he can remember.

the heavy weight that has been hanging on top of his head during the day would always fall right onto his shoulders once he steps foot into his home. it has become a routine at this point—to quietly lock the door, stop for a moment, close his eyes and let out a prolonged sigh.

but no matter how tired he was or no matter how much he dreaded the night, there is only one reason why he likes it.

a small smile forms into the corners of his lips as he watches you lying down on one side of the bed.

how could he afford to hate such nights when he gets to come home and see you like this?

hair splayed, eyes shut and breath steady—you look so calm, so peaceful. in his eyes, you are pretty no matter what time of the day, but it’s at moments like this that makes him think this is the prettiest you’ve ever been.

though there’s only one thing that ticks him off.

a pillow.

that damn pillow you always snuggle with so close in your sleep.

he doesn't like the way you’re holding on to it tightly as if you are afraid to let go. after all, that should be him. he should be the one you get to wrap your arms around on.

slow and gentle, heeseung removes the pillow from between your arms and places it on the other side of the bed in order to not wake you. but all his efforts collapse like a house of cards when your eyes slowly open and stare right into him.

"hee? is that you?” you ask in a hushed voice.

“of course, it’s me.” he assures you with a grin. “did i wake you up?”

“no, you didn't. it’s just… why did you move the pillow away?”

heeseung’s hand finds itself on the crown of your head and pats it with all the tenderness on his fingertips. “so i could sleep next to you, love.”

you groan, “there’s so much space on the other side. sleep there instead. i’m too lazy to move.”

"but i want to cuddle with you right now.” he pouts, but then a soft laugh from you swirls across the silent air.

“are you perhaps jealous of a pillow?”

heeseung could only widen his eyes as his cheeks are burning up like fire at your words. him? jealous of something that doesn't even move? it’s absurd, though the rapid beatings of his heart say otherwise.

“seriously? a pillow, hee?”

“you hug it every night! how could i not be jealous?” he scoffs. at this point, he’s aware that he seems childish, but he can't help it when he’s with you.

“you know i can't sleep unless i have something to hug,” you chuckle.

“then hug me instead.”

“gladly.”

when you open your arms wide, heeseung dives in almost immediately as if he was being welcomed by the ocean at his presence, the waves closing in on him and pulling him into the depths of your embrace. the scent of your cologne fills his senses when he buries his face into the crook of your neck, and when he finally closes his eyes, it feels like he’s suspended under the waters—untied from all the tension as his exhaustion could only dissipate into bubbles.

it’s a power, really, one where a hug from you seems to make his worries disappear in a blink of an eye and one where it makes a certain warmth bloom in his chest.

all because of you.

“tired?” you ask as you look down at him and stroke his cheek with the palm of your hand, tracing over every detail on his skin like forming constellations in the sky. he is so delicate, so fragile under your touch.

“mhm,” he takes in a deep breath before muttering under his breath, “so much.”

no matter how many times heeseung comes home looking like he lost the world, it’s impossible to get used to the way he tugs at your heart every time. just the sight of him alone makes your chest tighten and tears threaten to spill, almost as if you can feel his pain.

if only you could, because by then, would he feel better? would feeling his pain assure him that he wasn't alone? that you would be his constant even when time wasn't? that all things would pass but you would always stay?

because you’d do anything, even if it meant trading in the stars just to know that he’s alright.

“go to sleep,” you pull him closer and he shuffles lazily towards you. when his breathing slows and steadies, you wish for time to still.

and now, with heeseung in your arms instead, you’re finally able to fall asleep.

no matter how many pillows the world could offer or no matter how soft they could be, nothing could ever compare to the solace heeseung brings.

when he got to your side, you excitedly got ready for the photo, fixing your hair.

he took his phone in his hand and lifted it up slightly with the camera app loaded on his screen. you hugged him while his free arm wrapped around your body, and you two posed for the picture before he pressed the button to take it.

“okay, okay! let me see!” you quickly urged him after he snapped the photo, causing him to laugh and quickly open the picture he took.

you both looked at it closely, and a smile rose to heeseung’s lips, genuine joy overcoming his features at the cute photo he managed to capture of you two, while you, on the other hand, gave a look of disgust.

cuddling your head into your boyfriend, sunoo’s, shoulder, he smiled and extended his arm to wrap around your body. he turned his head to the side and left a kiss on your forehead.

“aww,” you couldn’t help but let out at his actions, sitting up straight and facing him. “did you just kiss me after i rested my head on your shoulder?”

his eyebrows furrowed in confusion, and just your tone of voice tempted him to deny it, but he decided not to, “uhm—yeah—why? is there something wrong with that?”

“patootie,” he added.

“potato.”

suddenly, without any signs, sunoo quickly dove in, capturing your lips with his own.

when he pulled back, you were left wide-eyed and shocked.

“oh, yeah? well, you’re a tomato,” he replied, smirking. “your facing is growing real red right now, babe.”

“yeah, i think i prefer ‘babe’ a little more than ‘tomato,’” you told him.

“why? i think it has a nice ring to it,” he teased before finishing his sentence, “my little tomato.”

usually you would be the one to tease him, but somehow this escalated into a teasing battle, which you seemed to be losing, and you weren’t the only one who thought so.

“i think i won,” sunoo said proudly.

“no,” you shook your head, denying it. “‘tomato’ was stupid.”

“and you think ‘potato’ was any better?” you narrowed your eyes playfully at him before he continued. “if you really think you won, got anything better?”

you thought for a moment before confidently nodding.

“okay, what is it?”

“now, don’t get all arrogant with me, mister,” you argued lightheartedly.

“‘mister?’” he questioned. “that’s the best you got?”

“no, no, no, noo, that wasn’t even it. no, it wasn’t. get ready to lose—“ you paused with a smirk “—hubby.”

that was the first time he ever heard that name leave your lips, and he froze in shock as his heartbeat began to quicken. his eyes were wide, and he was at a loss for words.

“hah!” you laughed. “stumped you there, didn’t i—hubby?”

“stop!” he nudged you, unable to hide the smile he was trying to compose. “i—“

and like that, your nickname had a deep affect on him, so much so that nothing else was able to leave his lips in that moment.

“told you i’d win,” you bragged, face inches away from his before placing a peck on his lips. “now, since you’re the loser, you get to do the dishes, hubby.”

as you began to stand up, a part of him was hesitant, but the other part got the best of him, and he stood up with you.

who knew using that nickname could make him do anything you told him to. perhaps you should keep that in mind for the future: from now ‘til marriage, all the way until the day you die. forever, he was yours… forever your hubby.

“oh, how about stand over there—yeah, that’s perfect!” your boyfriend, jungwon, directed you towards the thick trunk of a beautiful, tall tree.

you happily obliged, and once you were there, you began getting distracted by something he was saying, and jungwon was able to get a perfect candid shot of you mid-laugh.

jungwon took a look at the picture he just captured of you, and immediately, a smile rose to his lips. it was perfect.

you and jungwon were out on a date when at some point, you both broke out into a mini photoshoot using the cameras on your phones, taking fun photos of each other around the neighbourhood.

“okay, here, here, here!” jungwon said, guiding you to the next destination of your little shoot.

his feet gravitated towards you, and you two walked together, side by side.

as you reached the area your boyfriend was talking about, you felt as his hand met the small of your back, guiding you gently to where he thought you should stand.

he then stepped back—far enough to get a good shot—and was about to take a picture, but then realized something on your face. he quickly ran over to you, and you watched as he did so.

he brought his hand up, his hand brushing your cheek in the process, and he moved some strands of hair that were in front of your face over to the side.

you silently thanked him, and he returned it with a satisfied smile.

he ran back to his spot and got yet another perfect photo of you.

“‘kay, you’ve been taking so many of me, and we haven’t gotten enough of you. let me take some,” you told jungwon to which he smiled and nodded.

you two began walking around, trying to find a good spot, and after a while, you did.

it was in front of a garden of beautiful flowers, and you led jungwon, telling him where to stand. and within a few seconds you were able to get some shots you were happy with.

even though you were done, you told him to stay where he was. you tapped your screen a few times before setting your phone down and pressing the button to take a timed picture.

quickly, you ran to jungwon but somehow tripped over your own feet on the way. luckily it happened right before jungwon, and he was able to catch your fall.

taking a few deep breaths of relief, you both laughed it off, naturally letting your foreheads rest against each other, and you exchanged soft smiles.

“thanks,” you began, heart still beating from almost falling.

“you’re lucky i was here,” jungwon laughed, lips just inches from yours.

you nodded in agreement before leaning in and meeting his lips in the middle.

the kiss didn’t last long though, because you quickly pulled back, remembering that you had the timer set for the picture. you told jungwon about it, and you two laughed before running to where your phone was still set to see what it had captured.

you opened the photo and saw that it was of you in jungwon’s arms, both of you with relieved smiles on your lips. it was such a beautiful sight, not so much to experience, but to see.

you both laughed, because it was funny and because you loved it.

you turned your head to the side, only to meet eyes with your boyfriend. his eyes travelled to your lips before you met him in the middle once more.

jungwon mindlessly trudged through the nearly empty airport, the hood of his jacket pulled up. he was so tired he could almost physically feel his body shutting down, weighed down by the ever increasing fatigue spreading through his body.

it was your voice calling out his name that pulled him out of this trance. his excited eyes immediately scanned his surroundings until they landed on you.

stiffling a laughter, he watched as you tried your best to waddle your way to him, engulfed in his big puffer jacket.

the moment his arms wrapped around you, he felt his exhaustion melt away instantly. nuzzling his forehead into the crook of your neck, he mumbled whispers of confessions of love.

when you pull away, his heart warmed at the familiar adoring smile that appeared on your face. he relaxed into your soft touch, letting you gently cup his cheeks and plant a light kiss on his forehead.

he smiled brightly for the first time after the long hours of the seemingly endless flight, returning the affection by embracing you in another hug.

and when he could feel nothing other than your comforting presence, he knew he was finally home.

this time stamp because i always think of wonie when i think of sunrises.

the first few rays of the morning sun started peeking through the windows of your high-rise apartment, slowly filling your bedroom and the rest of the busy heart of seoul with an early warmth. the leftover chill from the night before still hung around you, creating a perfect mix of temperatures that you can only find in the times you woke up before six am. squinting your eyes in an attempt at adjusting to the new light source pouring into your home as the sun rose, you rub the sleepiness out of your eyes. 

scanning the bedroom you shared with your boyfriend, you find him still sleeping peacefully with his bangs flopped over his forehead, his lips slightly apart as he breathed in and out. smiling to yourself, you reach out from under your comforter and over to his soft locks, brushing them out of his eyes so that you could see his beautiful cat-like face better. jungwon stirs slightly at this but doesn’t wake, making you quietly chuckle at how tired he was. carefully pulling the covers off your body, you greet the crisp morning air which instantly sends a chill down your spine. shaking off the cold, you place your feet onto the wooden floor and set out to make a big breakfast for you and your loving boyfriend. but before you could get up, an arm grabs onto your waist, putting a temporary halt to your plans.

“where are you going?” a sleepy jungwon questions, struggling to keep his eyes open. 

you bend down and press multiple kisses to his soft cheek. “good morning, love. i’m going to make us breakfast, what do you want to eat?”

he closes his eyes again and tries to pull you in tighter. “i don’t want breakfast, i want you to come back to bed.”

letting out a proper laugh this time, you put your feet back onto the mattress and scoot a little closer to jungwon. “come on, i’ll make us banana pancakes if you’d like. i know how much you liked them the last time i made them.”

he cracks his eyes open and narrows them at the sun—which had risen a lot more since the time you woke up—before setting them on you. you let out a grin at his sleepy self, running your hands through his hair once again. 

“fifteen more minutes? and then we can both get up to make the pancakes.”

softly agreeing, you put yourself back under the covers and situate your body between jungwon’s awaiting arms. taking a deep breath as you wrap your arms around his waist, you drink in the fresh notes of wonie’s favorite perfume. you had always loved hugging your boyfriend and breathing his scent in, cherishing the smell that you now recognized as home.

he puts a slender hand at the back of your head and rubs little circles into your hair while pulling you even closer, the act successfully lulling you back to sleep within minutes. “i love you.” he whispers, watching the sun as it rose over the horizon more and more from the window behind your sleeping figure. he pulls the comforter covering the both of you up higher, trying to completely cover you two from the incessant brightness of the impending morning before drifting off to sleep himself.

if saying goodbye to a beautiful morning and a delicious breakfast means you get to spend more time in the love of your life’s arms, you’d say that it was a fair trade.

riki showing his affection for you in public was a rare sight, and everybody knew it. though you and riki had been dating for a while, not even his close friends ever saw him do anything extremely lovey-dovey towards you. the most they would have seen would have been the time when he took your hand in his when you two thought you were alone. but then again, that was only one time.

however, on the other hand, though you two did spend a lot of your time together, teasing one another, when you two were in private, it was a whole other story.

and fortunately for you, it just so happened to be one of those days. however, though being alone with him was one of the things you loved most, the reason you were at this moment wasn’t one you loved so much.

it had happened to be a not so great day for you; a good portion of it was filled with stress and you were absolutely overwhelmed with so many things going on in your life that by the end of the day, you were ready to just break down.

you were with riki, and he quickly took notice of your not so cheerful mood, and he didn’t hesitate in pulling you into his chest, holding you in his arms and just staying there for as long as you needed.

he rested his head on top of yours before adjusting and finding more comfort on your shoulder instead, slowly making his way to bury his face into the crook of your neck.

being his significant other, you were the only one in his life that he treated in this way, and he never failed to make you feel special and valued, like you were the only person in the world that mattered to him.

after a while, you pulled back, eyes on the floor with a genuine frown on your face.

trying to naturally remove yourself from his embrace, he only pulled you closer, so close that he just resorted to resting his forehead on yours, looking into your sad and tired eyes before asking, “why are you so down, love?”

your frown only grew bigger, and he quickly pressed his lips softly against yours, attempting to comfort you the best he could.

when he noticed your eyes begin to light up just slightly, he took that as a sign to keep going, so he did, placing one kiss on your lips after the other, and soon, your frown was gone, and you were smiling brighter than ever, even emitting a soft giggle from you.

“whatever it is, we can talk about it later,” he told you. “in the meantime, let’s watch a movie to get your mind off of it, yeah?”

you gave him a small smile before nodding.

when it came to you, never would he hesitate to take care of you or attempt to lift your mood, whether it be in public or behind closed doors. when it came to you, he was different, in all the best ways. you were each other’s safety and comfort. he wouldn’t hesitate to do anything when it came to you.

standing in the kitchen in front of the pot on the stove, you heard the front door open, followed by soft, familiar footsteps drawing closer by the second.

it was jay, your comfort, your peace, your universe, your everything.

even though it was just like any other day, with both of you having work and errands to run throughout the morning and afternoon, getting home and waiting for him to arrive back to you, you missed him.

so listening as his footsteps grew louder from behind, you smiled and turned your head to the side, greeting him.

still occupied with what you were stirring in the pot, you soon felt as his hands snaked around your waist from behind and felt his breath against your ear as he let out a soft and drawn out “hi.” he turned his face slightly, pressing a loving kiss to the side of your head.

this was turning into a routine for the two of you. after a long day, missing one another deeply, he would often come back home, slightly tired and slow, just wanting you in his arms and being in your presence.

when he pulled back after the kiss, you relaxed into his touch, resting your head in the crook of his neck.

without a word, he took the spoon you used to stir the pot out of your hand and into his own, taking over for you. you opened your mouth to protest, but before anything could come out, he let you know that he got it and that you could relax.

you turned around in his hold and faced him, wrapping your arms around his waist and burying your head into his chest. he hugged you tighter with his free arm, pressing another kiss to the top of your head this time.

you breathed in his comforting scent, enjoying being back in his arms once again. you tilted your head to look at him, causing him to do the same, and you exchanged soft smiles before he leaned in and pressed a kiss to your lips.

pulling back, he gave you a soft “i love you,” but before you could say it back, he left several more kisses on your lips.

though you both didn’t want this moment to end any time soon, jay eventually had to pull back to make sure nothing would go wrong in the kitchen.

but eventually, dinner was ready and you two enjoyed the rest of the evening together on the couch with some food and movies, as well as a few more kisses exchanged.

slowly, this became a daily routine for the two of you. after long days like these, spending time together like this is what you both looked forward to the most every day.

with your head laying on jay’s chest as he mindlessly brushed his fingers slowly through your hair, he looked at you and smiled, “i love you.”

a soft squeal could be heard from rooms away as it left your lips.

riki had just snuck up on you from behind before quickly pulling you into his embrace, your back pressed against his chest. at the unexpected contact, you jumped slightly before attempting to turn around in his arms. however, his strong hold had you trapped in this position, unable to move. so you sighed, resorting to turning your head to look at him instead before giving him a playful glare. he rested his chin on your shoulder before turning his face slightly, placing a soft, apologetic kiss on your cheek.

“i’m sorry for scaring you,” he gave you a small, playful pout.

“it’s okay,” you told him before continuing, “what i’m more frustrated about is the fact that you have me restricted in your arms right here.”

he let out a small chuckle before loosening his hold on you, allowing you some freedom to move.

you turned around to face him, both of you softly locking eyes.

“‘kay, i’m sorry,” he began again, placing his hand on top of your head and ruffling your. “better?”

you squirmed in his hold before stopping his actions, “hey! no! no, stop!” you said between giggles. “this is not better! you’re messing up my hair! nishimura riki!”

laughing at your reaction, he eventually stopped and you glared at him again, even harder this time.

“okay, okay,” he let out, beginning to fix your hair by patting it down. “sorry, my love.”

after a few seconds, he succeeded in returning your hair back to the way it was before, and only a moment later, you watched as his eyes darted to your lips. before you could process, he already had his lips on yours, pecking them softly.

“better now?” he asked after pulling back slightly, voice calm.

you nodded before a smirk made its way to your lips.

you snaked your arms around his neck before quickly pulling him in for another kiss, this time lasting much longer.

he felt himself melt under your touch, kissing you back with equal passion. however, little did he know, you were taking this as an opportunity to get back at him as you continuously and messily brushed all of your fingers through his hair.

when you eventually pulled back, you had to control yourself as you succeeded in stifling your laugh. however, he didn’t miss the way your lips twitched and were being forced into keeping straight. and once you realized he caught on, you couldn’t help but let out a laugh.

“what’s so funny?” he asked you before he noticed your eyes travel up to the top of his head.

turning around to face a mirror, riki quickly noticed the way his hair was now in a mess with each lock of hair out of place.

he turned around, looking at you annoyed, but you didn’t fail to notice the way his lips were now the one holding back a smile.

and before you knew it, riki was chasing you around the room, squeals leaving your lips once again before he eventually caught you from behind and lifted you off of your feet, only causing you to let out more protesting squeals.

and just like that, the day ended with you in his arms, either trying to get at each other’s hair, or exchanging kisses, and you couldn’t have wished for it any other way.

Your eyes were looking all over the place as you walked into the venue for the awards ceremony, as ever, there were familiar faces all over the place, making sure that you smiled to as many of those that you recognised as possible whilst staying nice and close to where Jay was too.

Jay had a close eye on you as the two of you walked, standing just a little way back from the rest of the boys as they walked in too, following the members of staff who were pointing the group to where their table was.

“Are you alright?” Jay asked as soon as you reached your table, noticing your names side by side to the left side of the table, looking ahead at the stage.

Your head nodded as you took a shaky breath, trying your best to stay relaxed. As ever, the business of award ceremony season soon started to creep up on you, reminding you of how overwhelming it could all be, even whilst Jay seemed to take it all in his stride.

“I think we might need to go and do an interview before we sit down,” Jay informed you as he listened into conversation, “I promise that we won’t be too long doing it though.”

“Don’t worry, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”

Jay smiled appreciatively at how understanding you were as Jungwon began to round them all up, following a member of staff across to where a couple of the broadcast stations were doing interviews. You stayed sat at the table, minding your own business until the chair beside you scraped along the floor, a figure deciding to take a seat in it.

“Why’s Jay left you all alone at a place like this?” The man asked you from your right side.

As you looked across, you recognised Hyunjin’s face straight away. You offered him a weak smile, not quite sure what to do or say as you looked around for where Jay and the group had gone, only to not find them anywhere in sight.

With no one else around the two of you, Hyunjin decided to take the chance to get to know you. It didn’t take long before he was asking all about you, laughing and joking with you, unaware of the group’s interviews finishing up, heading back across to the table.

“Who’s that?” Jay asked any of them as he looked across the table and saw the back of someone sat beside you, spotting you laughing straight away as you spoke to them.

Whilst Jay hung back, Sunghoon and Heeseung kept walking towards the table, soon recognising that it was Hyunjin that you were talking through. Their presence quickly made Hyunjin go silent, turning around to see Jay following behind them too.

“Hello,” Jay nervously spoke as soon as he met Hyunjin’s eyes, folding his arms across his chest. “It seems that you’re in my seat, do you mind if I take my seat back?”

Hyunjin nodded, offering you a warm smile as he stood up from the chair, greeting the boys too. The moment Hyunjin left the chair, Jay sat himself back down in it, placing a hand against your thigh, making sure that Hyunjin caught it before he walked back to where his own group were sat.

“He was nice,” you told the boys as they all sat back down at the table with you too, “you guys would like him too,” you added, only to feel the grip that Jay had against the top of your leg tighten as he listened to you speak.

His actions didn’t go unnoticed by the boys either as they noticed Jay’s expression tensing up. “We prefer to just keep to the people that we trust,” Sunwoo told you, trying his best to encourage a change of subject around the table.

“But he seems really friendly.”

“He’s not as friendly as us though,” Jay muttered underneath his breath.

“I know that, I’m just saying that he was nice to me.”

As you looked across to Jay to reply to him, you noticed his expression for the first time. You were confused as to why he looked so irritated until you looked across to Jake who mouthed the word jealous back across to you.

“I bet his group aren’t as good as you guys are,” you spoke up again, spinning things around as you tried to make Jay feel better. His smile turned up slightly as he listened to you, knowing that he was definitely better than Hyunjin was for you.

Your eyes looked around the table for reassurance as the boys all watched Jay too, with Riki especially nodding at you, letting you know that you were doing the right thing.

“Have you guys got anymore work to do before the ceremony starts, or are you staying here now?” You enquired, reaching under the table to rest your hand over the top of Jay’s, intertwining your fingers in tightly with his to be able to squeeze his hand.

As Jungwon talked you through the group’s plans, you were relieved to hear that they were done. The last thing you needed was for them to go away again and to risk someone else approaching you whilst you were alone.

“That means that I can keep an eye on you,” Jay whispered across to you.

“Why would that be? Were you perhaps a little jealous?”

“No,” Jay firmly stated, tightening his grip against your hand, “if you think that I’m jealous about someone like Hyunjin then you’re very much mistaken.”

Jay’s comment had several of the boys stifling laughs as they struggled not to chuckle to themselves. It was apparent to everyone that Hyunjin’s appearance by your side had gotten under Jay’s skin, no matter how much he wanted to suggest otherwise.

The way he bit down on his bottom lip or stared at every single guy who got a little too close to your table let everyone know that he was unsettled. He hated anyone being around you, much preferring to keep you all to himself.

“It’s a good job that you’re here to protect me now then,” you teased, resting your head down against Jay’s shoulder. “I’m not saying that you were jealous, but if you were, then you really didn’t need to be Jay.”

“I wasn’t jealous of him.”

“Course you weren’t.”

Jake’s mutters had Jay’s eyes flickering across the table, staring across at him. “Excuse me for wanting to keep Y/N safe, especially at an event as busy as this one.”

Your head shook as Jake held his hands up to try and protest his innocence. “You can see in your eyes how jealous you were,” Jake told him, winding Jay up even more as his grip got even firmer on you to keep you by his side.

“Let’s try and forget about it,” you suggested, “you guys aren’t going anywhere for the rest of the night, which means that no one will come near me.”

Jay’s head nodded at your suggestion, shooting a glare at the rest of the boys too. There was no way that he was going to admit to being jealous, especially when he would have to admit to being jealous of Hyunjin of all people.

“Stay by my side for the rest of the night,” Jay whispered to you.

“I’m not going anywhere; I think your grip is too tight to let me go anywhere anyway.”

“Sorry,” Jay weakly chuckled, “I don’t want anyone else to come near you, you’re only supposed to be mine.”

“No one else is, I promise.”

summary. jay thought it would be a great idea to make a gift made by himself for once. except, he's never done any needlework before, but that's just how much he loves you.

a/n. supposed to write a 02z headcanon but jay's got so long so here it is!

jay wanted to give you a gift.

there wasn't any special occasion for the matter nor did it hold any meaning to it. simply put, he just wanted to pour you endless buckets of his love. that was why his favorite was the act of giving and another reason as to why he gives you so many things that it was impossible to count with your hands alone.

truth be told, jay could get you anything you wanted no matter the cost. but this time, he wanted to give you something special—something different and unparalleled that even the world could not offer. the idea seemed illogical, yet as a thought crossed jay’s mind, the answer was actually simple.

now that would be priceless (both figuratively and literally).

which led jay to try the art of knitting. although, he probably should’ve thought twice before being blinded by his excitement because who knew knitting was this hard?

jay could’ve asked you for help, but he wanted to surprise you. it was wearisome enough to learn knitting behind your back when you only leave home for work during weekdays.

with two needles on his hands and yarn in between, jay’s lips never failed to let out a sigh every once in a while. he couldn't form at least a single loop and jay was quite the impatient man. at this point, wasting ten yarns would be an understatement. defenestrating out the window seemed tempting.

groaning, jay considered giving up, but a silent voice in his mind told him otherwise—the image of you and your smile being replayed over and over in his head like a projector replaying the same scene of a movie he would never get tired of.

if he knitted you a scarf, would you hug him so hard you would knock the breath out of his lungs? would you smile and pepper him kisses all over, mouthing praises and mutters of how proud you are in between?

he wanted to find out.

filled with determination and willpower, he continued. and in just a few weeks, jay started to get the hang of it. forming a continuous string of loops and patterns that create fabric, he started to find the peace and comfort people found in it. he was patient as he does his craft at the thought of you, sewing in patches of his heart and adoration into every loop and every stitch with care.

weeks turned into months when he was finally done with his first knitted scarf. clasping tightly onto it, he was too excited for you to come home that as soon as you arrive, you thought that your heart jumped out of your body. because once you opened the door, there he was standing in front of you as if he had been expecting you since hours ago. you didn't even ring the doorbell.

“what are you-”

“surprise!” jay raised his hand, clutching onto the scarf as he waved it for you to see. “is it pretty? i made it just for you, love.”

he gazed over to you, eyes wide and anticipating your reaction.

your mouth hung open in astonishment, “you made that?”

“of course! it’s just too long, though. i was so focused while knitting that i forgot when to stop.”

“what… how… since when?” your hand traced over the scarf, taking in the feeling of every stitch on the tips of your fingers, feather-like to the touch. the design didn’t have any cute flower patterns nor did it have strikingly multiple colors that could almost form a rainbow.

it was just a plain gray scarf. nothing unusual except for the fact that it’s too long that it almost reached your knees. yet, you would undeniably agree with jay and think that it was a pretty scarf. no, it was the prettiest scarf to ever exist and you were fortunate enough to get your hands on it.

“i knitted whenever you’re out so i could surprise you. i think it took me around… 2 months?” he raised a brow in thought.

god, he was in love with you.

sure, it was normal for him to give you gifts now and then, but one made by himself? it was a first, and you could already imagine a grumpy jay sitting on the carpet with tools scattered across the floor. and you appreciate it. you appreciate every time, every effort, and every hard work he had put into making the gift.

although teasing him a little bit would be fun.

“2 months? it makes sense. it’s summer already. how can i wear it under the heat, love?” you remarked playfully.

jay pouted like a child, “wear it, please? i wanna see you with it.”

you chuckled at his expression, heart slowly melting into a puddle. he knew his pout would always make you go weak in the knees. “fine, i’ll try it even though it’s like, what, 40 degrees outside. give it to me.”

when you lend out your hand in anticipation, jay ignored it and stepped forward instead until there was only a little bit of space between you two. “let me be the one to put it on you.”

frozen and stunned, you lost your ability to move as if you were put under a spell—jay’s captivating spell. bending down, he leaned forward, looping the scarf around your neck as if you were a present being carefully wrapped. and in the process, you felt his breath mere inches away tickling your skin.

time felt slow, too slow.

after what seemed like an eternity, jay finally moved back and admired you like a work of art. “does it look good?” you asked him, curious as to how he viewed you in his eyes as you fiddled with the fabric.

“definitely. i had to wrap the scarf around you many times because of the length, but it looks lovelier now that you’re wearing it.” jay did not lie. with your neck being covered in multiple layers of his scarf, your cheeks were also buried underneath. you look too cute, and jay could only feel giddy at the sight.

“thank you so much, jay. i’m so proud of you. i’ll make sure to use it every day,” you joked. all of a sudden, you came to a realization. “oh, but i have to pay you back. i can’t always be on the receiving end. is there any gift that you want me to give?”

“there is,” jay replied almost instantly.

“what is it then?” his eyes flitted from yours to your lips and your eyes again.

“this,” he said, tugging on the ends of your scarf and using it to pull you towards him, closing any distance between the both of you and leaning for a kiss. the scene was unbelievable that it left you paralyzed, but then you felt his touch and it lit fireworks all over your body that soon you found yourself kissing him back, lips dancing delicately against his own.

moving his hands toward the fabric behind your neck, he held onto it tightly and used it to pull you even closer as your bodies would allow, deepening the kiss and smiling in between.

jay finally found the answer.

even though you didn't hug him so hard or give him small kisses while muttering praises as he looked forward to, this was the best response he’s ever received from you. no words, just a kiss—one that was euphoric it sent him flying towards the sky and one that could last a lifetime.

and he’d do anything, anything even if he would have to knit a thousand scarfs just to feel it all over again.

you sat on your boyfriend’s lap as he gamed, resting your head on his shoulder with your eyes closed. he’d often speak into the mic, telling the boys where he’d spot enemies or how much damage he had done to an enemy before he died. heeseung let out an irritated groan, his hands moving from the keyboard to your waist. “did you die?” you asked, mumbling into his neck. with a sigh, he nodded his head. you felt his hands drawing circles onto your waist, as he moved his headset onto the desk. you lifted your face from the crook of his neck, leaving a couple light kisses on his lips. he let out a giggle and smiled as he returned the light kisses, soon developing into a longer kiss, though still playful. heeseung pulled away after some time, mumbling sweet nothings into your ear and telling you how much he loved you.

his lips lightly connected to your skin, pressing butterfly kisses from your jaw down to your neck. you let out a couple hums, delighted by the affection and attention of your boyfriend.

“heeseung! are you two seriously making out right now?! get back into the game!” you both heard from the headset, hearing jay’s voice crack. “also hee, mute yourself next time. we heard all of that” sunghoon said, followed by gagging noises that anyone could tell were from niki.

groaning, heeseung put his headset back on, apologizing to his friends who heard him sweet talking to you like he was romeo. he then placed another light kiss on your head before getting back into the game. but not without promising you lots of affection once the match was finished.

A long sigh left Jake’s pouty lips as he made drinks in the kitchen, while everyone else continued their games in the living room for the weekly game night. Lately, he had been feeling down, knowing how he felt about you, yet not knowing how to tell you. How could one tell his best friend he’s in love with her to the point it was hurting him?

“Hey man, you good?” Jay asked Jake as he noticed him spacing out, making Jake chuckle nervously while running his hand through his hair.

“I wish I could say that,” He chuckled again, thinking it would help his nerves. Jay nodded his head, waiting for him to continue, “Have you ever been in love with someone for so long, yet you’re unable to confess to them?”

Jay took a seat at the counter, mixing his drink as he laughed now, “Dude, just ask Y/N out already. At this point, we’ve all been making bets as to when you’ll do it!”

Jake’s eyes widened in shock, “What? Are you serious? You all know?”

Jay shook his head before taking a drink, “Everyone, but Y/N knows. Yep, pretty much.”

Another game had finished up with Sunghoon winning, making Sunoo begin to argue with him about something no one would remember tomorrow. This was the perfect time to sneak away to get another drink and check on Jake. He had been in the kitchen for some time now, and you were getting worried. That’s when you over heard Jay and his conversation.

Your eyes widened as you covered your mouth in surprise from hearing your best friend was in love with you. Had Jay told him about your feelings? You felt your cheeks redden as you took a deep breath to calm your nerves before emerging into the kitchen doorway.

Jake’s expression went blank, panicking that you heard everything said. If he was going to confess, he wanted to do it properly, “H-How long have you been standing there?” Jay looked back to see you, shooting you a wink before getting up to give the two of you some privacy.

“The entire time,” You trailed off, feeling shy suddenly around your best friend, “Jake.”

“Wait, before you say anything, let me explain,” He took a deep breath as you nodded, taking a seat with him, “I’ve never felt this way before and I’m terrified to be honest. I don’t even know when I started liking you. Before I even knew it, I couldn’t get you out of my head. I was always thinking, ‘Is Y/N okay?’ ‘Does Y/N need anything?’ or ‘I can’t wait to see you.’ You suddenly were always in my head, and I liked it. I don’t know when I fell in love with you, but all I know is that I am,” He sighed, feeling happy to get that off his chest, but as he saw your reaction he wasn’t sure if you felt the same or not, “I respect you if you feel uncomfortable too and I don’t want things to change if you-”

Before he could finish, you took him by his collar, pulling him into you as you pressed your lips to his. He froze for a moment before closing his eyes and tilting his head more to deepen the kiss as his hands pulled you into his by your waist. Your hands wrapped around his neck to caress the nape of his neck, sending goosebumps down his spine.

“Wow,” Was all he could say as you giggled, smiling up at him from his reaction.

“Wow, what?” You laughed as you saw his cheeks heat up before covering his face slightly, only for you to remove them. You wanted to see him, especially from this close, “Don’t be shy around me. I feel the same Jake.”

He bit his lip to hold himself back. The excitement that ran through his body was immense. The girl of his dreams was also in love with him as well, “You don’t even know how happy you make me, how happy this makes me,” He pressed a soft peck to your lips, “How happy I am to finally have you all to myself.”

16. “You fainted…straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes.”

It had been a stressful month. You were practicing for Nationals in two months, while also doing a co-ed skate with the infamous Park Sunghoon. He had been on every ones radar since his historical win again a national champion of five straight years. It blew your mind to think you would be meeting him, yet you knew how he could be. Cocky, overly confident, and a bit arrogant. You tried to always be respectful, but as time passed, you grew to be annoyed of him, which is why you hated yourself for finding him so attractive.

It was just another day of practicing the entire day, and you could feel your exhaustion hitting you more than usual. You skated around the ice to hopefully clear your mind as you saw Sunghoon enter the rink after a break.

“Hi beautiful! Miss me?” Sunghoon smirked as he slowly skated over to you, while fixing his gloves.

You scoffed to yourself before stopping to stare at him, “You wish.”

“Yeah, can you stop being so mean to me? I really am trying to be friends, and I do actually think you are beautiful. It’s not my cocky attitude again like you always say,” He changed his tone so quickly, finally having to say something to you.

Truthfully, Sunghoon had grown quite fond of you and really started to like you. He could see how hard working you were and how fun of a person you were. The two of you had moments where you got along and had fun even. Yet there were many times when he would make a joke or tease you, all in fun, and you wouldn’t be having it. He knew it was a misunderstanding, but how do you explain that to someone, especially someone you like?

“Are you sure about that Hoon? How can I believe anything you say when you always tease me?” You asked, not sure what his intentions were, but wanting to finally see since it had been in question for some time.

Before Sunghoon could answer, your breathing suddenly became labored as you grabbed onto the side of rink. Your vision began to fade in and out as you hunched over, feeling like all your strength left your body. The last thing you saw before collapsing was Sunghoon skating over to you with a worried expression on his face.

When you woke, you were in the infirmary with Sunghoon next to you. You turned your head to him, feeling terrible, “What happened?”

“You fainted…straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes,” He smiled sweetly as he noticed you chuckled lightly, “I’m joking. How do you feel? You really scared me there,” You closed your eyes as you felt Sunghoon place his hand on yours, “I meant everything I said before, but I did lie about one thing,” You turned to look at him confused, “I don’t want to be friends, I want more. I really like you,” He blushed.

This was the first time you had ever seen Park Sunghoon shy and to make it all better, blush in front of you, “You like me? What an honor,” You laughed weakly, making his smile at you. You didn’t want to misjudge him anymore. He clearly had good intentions and even saved you from hurting yourself after fainting. In your mind, everyone deserved a chance, even those like Sunghoon.

“The honor is all mine, Y/N,” He gazed down at you lovingly, “I’m here to help you until you feel better. Now, do you need anything girlfriend?”

It was your turn to blush now, “Girlfriend? It’s got a nice ring to it,” You grinning tiredly as you gasped his hand now, “Can I have some orange juice?”

“One orange juice coming up babe,” Sunghoon winked before leaving the room, leaving your dazed and confused as to what just happened, yet for some reason, you were completely fine with it.
