Blinks, finding himself outside the void..
Give/Take
In my head, I suffer My memories erased
In my heart, a lover I know I'll be replaced
Expression, muted soft Through anguish made of glass
My surface made to rot Its cracks unveil my past
How much could I give How much could I take
Close my eyes, empty rooms I know I might be ill
Close my mind from inside I'll go in for the kill
First by rain, then by fire Return to mother's womb
I give up chasing you Don't lacerate my wounds
How much could I give How much could I take
-- Mr. Kitty / Give/Take Lyrics
opast-luka:
Their conversation is suddenly interrupted. It was Toko and her brother Tsukumo. Both looking for Yuki for whatever reason. There is almost a resounding click of the tongue from Luka as he looks up and over his shoulder to the door. He keeps the sound to a minimum or simply reigns it in quickly. He lifts a hand and pressed the palm of it to the wood of the door. It almost appeared as if Luka wouldn’t let anyone get through, but this isn’t the case. Because he swept them from their current place to the balcony of Yuki’s room. Let them search, he through. However important or unimportant the words might be.
Never had Luka acted like this, but under certain circumstances. He acted upon impulse. There is no regret and would do it again if he could, when he looks to Yuki. His lips had parted to say something, but not a sound draws from them. Instead, Luka’s hands find the sides of Yuki’s face. With that same soft and gentle hold and caress. The Duras crane’s Yuki’s neck, tilting his head back. While Luka dipped in towards Yuki, pressing his lips to his. It wasn’t Luka’s intention, but he was driven. It wasn’t fair. That was something that he kept hearing in the dark recesses of his mind. He respected Yuki’s wishes then, and did so entirely.
But what had this happened. All this has mounted up and the occurrences that keep appearing out of the blue. Interfering in every possible way. Its both painful and annoying to Luka. Unable to comprehend this alone. He doesn’t know how to full express what humans do. Yuki hadn’t been able to fully help him understand this, their time had been cut so short. Then her death followed with something unimaginable. It tore Luka, but who would know or understand the measure of it all. While he didn’t express it verbally, no one would know. He would simply push it back, while reality pushed right back at him.
His kiss to Yuki wasn’t a simple soft press of lips. A sensation that would linger like a touch of a feather. Instead, it would leave an imprint that was already written there. A lifetime gone, reawakened by this simple and meaningful notion from Luka. His hands shift from their place, or at least one of his hands does. Long digits glide through the short strawberry-blond hair. On their own accord looking for the unforgettable soft long locks, though short would do just the same. Because he was no longer searching for the past. He wanted what had become of that same soul. No matter what shape it was in, it was the same. They were both the same. Yuki had come back.
He’s startled when Luka suddenly drags him away again, away from the impending interruption— It becomes immediately clear he has no intention of letting them be disturbed this time. And honestly? Yuki is thankful for it. He is just as tired of the lack of solitude they can find in this house and then, just as he is about to speak, to ask Luka of his intention–
Luka tilts his chin, captures his lips in a kiss that he feels in his SOUL, the kind that he feels are spoken of in fairytales. Something trembles in his heart and his breath is suddenly stolen. The whole thing in Yuki’s mind feels like a giant cliche– weak knees and quivering heart. He sink’s into Luka’s touch, kisses back with fervent approval. (And if he sees something, some dreamlike memory he will not remember it upon parting. For a moment his heart says this is RIGHT, this is what his soul has NEEDED.)
Caught off guard, but not enough so that he doesn’t reciprocate.
Luka pulls away and leaves him BREATHLESS and trembling, eyes glassy and shocked– at some point one of his hands had come up, wound around to rest at the back of Luka’s neck. His head swims–
And then realization.
Yuki’s whole face turns to bright scarlet, up his ears and down his neck, blood rushing to his face so fast his head spins. He leans back against the balcony with dizzy steps.
“ you – “ Yuki covers his mouth, still with heavy breath and dizzy head and feels a giddy thing making butterflies in his stomach. He doesn’t know what to say. “ You– kissed me. “ It’s not accusatory, but rather full of wonder. There is no mistaking the emotion Luka had held him fast with, no way to misunderstand this. With a sudden teary smile, he steps boldly into Luka’s space and leans up-
&& kisses him again.
Why should they be disrupted, time and time again. Always unable to express openly how much that was bothersome to him. And today. Luka reacted upon impulse. Just as Yuki might have guessed to himself. Luka has brought them to the balcony and gone beyond that. Kissed Yuki. Something he might have never done. Because for him to fall in love. It only happens once. Yet, the pain and strain he felt when Yuki was gone was immense. It had happened at his hands. He had never wanted to, but he abided by Yuki's wishes then.
When Luka found that Yuki had been reborn. He had to see. And the pain was placed upon him when he found that Yuki had come back, but not as herself from back then. But as someone else. The warmth and everything Yuki represented then, was still there. Yet, somewhere in the back of Luka's mind. He felt betrayed. At the time he shook his head. No, this isn't Yuki's fault. Nor did she do it on purpose or in spite. Yuki had all reason to do what she had done. And that was to be reborn into the world as a man.
Even if it was something so hard to swallow by all others. Luka could not help himself but to look upon Yuki the same. Open himself to Yuki as he had in the past. Even as to making Yuki wonder why this absolute stranger looked upon him with such familiarity. Help him then, and now, out of the blue, kissing him.
A hand so beyond human and yet so close to it. Cups the side of Yuki's face. Feeling it as Yuki stepped back. Possibly in utter shock to what he had done. Understandable, Luka thought. But rather than shy away as Yuki apparently was. He was looking on with those silver eyes. Dead set upon the ever changing expression on Yuki's face. Almost as if Luka had done this simply for this. Cruel, if anyone could say. Teasing poor Yuki like that. However, that wasn't the case here. How long can anyone wonder, just how long Luka had been wanting this?
He reached up with a hand, his own digits pressed lightly to his own lips while Yuki attempted to process the whole thing. Speaking the obvious of what has just transpired. There was no denying it. Luka instantly reaching out, taking hold of Yuki. Almost as if he had let the strawberry-blond male go, he would disappear. Just like her. No, no more. He doesn't let go. Watching still. As tears so warm as the smile that stretches across Yuki's face. Stepping forward, rather than stepping back. Demanding to be released. Yuki this time, kisses him.
But just before their lips met for the second time in so long. From another life time. Luka called out Yuki's name. And it flutters against Yuki's lips. Dancing their way to his ears. At the same time, Luka's chest feels something other than anything he has ever felt. It's warm, just like Yuki.

opast-luka:
He had spent almost the entire night by Yuki’s side, only leaving just an hour or so before he awoke. Luka hadn’t wanted Yuki to worry more than he does already with everything else, wondering if Luka had gotten any sleep at all. Thus leaving before stirring awake to the day. Giving himself a change of clothes and coming downstairs. He finds everyone already sitting at the table, ready to have breakfast. Everyone is conversing and hardly noticing him, just as well. He remains at the doorway, inclined, waiting on Yuki to come down.
With the routine, Yuki comes down, looking happy. Sounding chipper and without much worry. Knowing him better than anyone. Luka could sense how fabricated this sounded, never authentic as the rest must of thought that it was. Luka says nothing on the matter, not in front of everyone. He saves that, so when Yuki pulled him from the dinning area and somewhere out of earshot, does he think to speak of it. But first, he lets Yuki speak his mind. Surely there was something that Yuki needed to speak of. This relocation wasn’t for nothing.
He listens to him, waiting to express what was on his own mind. But those words only mount up with what he was hearing from Yuki, but the moment he is done speaking, looking so conflicted does Luka react. “Yuki..” He spoke the other male’s name as he took hold of his wrist. As if they were both gliding, they find themselves in another room. The door closing behind them with a soft click. The noise coming from the dinning area muffled out. Only when someone was screaming would it seem different, otherwise, they had their privacy.
It was Luka’s turn to speak. Though they are alone, he chooses to be soft spoken. “You are no obligation. I do this for you, because that is what I want.” He takes a step forward, his hands brought up, cupping Yuki’s face. Luka brings Yuki’s gaze up to his. Silvery pools hold an honest gaze in their, he wasn’t lying when he spoke, nor was he trying for any excuses. What’s more he wasn’t trying to avoid anything neither. Thumbs lightly brush, but it is more of a caress to ease that struggle he saw within Yuki’s eyes. Wanting to ask Luka something, but like himself, it held him back from doing so.
“You can ask me anything. And you can be just as honest with me. You know I will never betray you. So no matter what it is..” Luka trails. Realizing just how he had compromised himself in this conversation. Was it that a part of him wanted Yuki to know everything? It was too late now, so whatever Yuki asked, he would have to answer true. He shakes his head then, because of the words that are later repeating in his head. What Yuki had previously said just later. “I want to be with you. Protect you.” And then it sounds like a duty as he says that.
Though that wasn’t all he was going to say.“You’re not a duty to me, nor an obligation. I am here because I want to be.” How else could he say this for Yuki to understand. To grasp and believe him. He couldn’t possibly tell him as he would have before. Though he did feel no different from before, he was in no position uttering such words. Because.. what if he too was rejected. Cast away because of such sudden words. “But if you don’t want me by your side. I will understand and abide by your wishes.” And he would, Yuki simply had to say yes or anything else in that regard.
He is surprised to be pulled into seclusion, more so when Luka reaches out and touches him, brings his face up to look at him. Mercurial gazing pools, where Yuki sees a soul deep honesty. The kind that leaves Yuki wondering just what he’d been so AFRAID of, exactly.
Relief floods every fiber of him. After all, his greatest fear has been assuaged. He listens to every word with ready kindness and smiles sweetly when Luka is done. Sweetly, Yuki leans into the hands on his face, eyes closing in peaceful expression.
Ah, he sees it now. The answer to his question.
Luka is afraid, too. Afraid of Yuki turning him away? Never.
“L u k a…” he lays his hand over Luka’s gently. From the moment they’d met, Yuki had yearned to be beside him. He can’t even IMAGINE wanting Luka to leave him. Can’t imagine not wanting him by his side. “I want you beside me.” He answers Luka’s fears with honest heart, smiles and turns his face to boldly press a kiss against the Duras’s palm, before he has the time to think over the action and grow embarrassed.
When meets Luka’s eyes again, it is in a mirror of perfect love.
“I can’t imagine not wanting you beside me. I’m always afraid to ask for more of your time. To be too selfish–” He admits, shyly. “Or to disturb you. That’s why…if I seemed distant, I’m sorry. That was never my intention. I never want you to think that I want you to l e a v e me, okay?”

There is much that Luka kept to himself, no more than what Yuki kept to himself. But no one is going to argue this, they weren’t the type. So, silence is all that fills the in between of their relationship. Some of those aware feel sorry to flat out pity for Luka, that he refused to tell Yuki that they were lovers in the past. He had made a promise, that Yuki had chosen to forget everything and him as well. No matter how calm he had been that day. He was scared, he didn’t want to let her die. But he bit back and gave her what she wanted. Escape. A moments peace, for how long it would last it didn’t matter. She looked content and happy as she closed her eyes.
Looking to Yuki, Luka was dreading it might happen again. The strain, the sadness and desperation that was quickly filling Yuki. Would he ask as she had? Freeing him would not make things easy, in fact, he would seek self destruction. There was no more reason for him to exist if it was not to exist for Yuki. He parted his lips to speak, but it would seem sleep has finally claimed Yuki. With a heavy yet soft exhale, Luka closed his eyes. Dark long lashes sweep over, lightly kissing his pale cheeks. He sat there, on the edge of the bed, both his hands resting upon his lap.
It takes Luka a few before he opens his eyes once more. Casting his gaze over to Yuki’s face. Luka’s hand had reached out and was already pushing back Yuki’s hair, soothingly. Of course Luka was afraid of his own heart, even if he didn’t quite understand it entirely. What Yuki and the rest expressed, were human emotions. This was something Luka wasn’t versed on, he had only begun to understand with Yuki in his past life. Though that was short lived and it ached.
Luka remains there, unable to bring himself to leave Yuki’s side. Even if it meant that he forced himself any proper rest. It would not be the first time. When he knew that Yuki was safe, would Luka surrender to sleep.
Yuki rests peaceful under Lukas watchful gaze, perhaps those soothing fingers in his hair ease the ache in his chest– No nightmares tonight. Sweet company has always chased them away, after all. Yuki makes an effort not to be disappointed when dawns light finds him alone. That is perhaps the hardest thing. When they were young and the nightmares started, Yuki would wake safely in Kanata’s bed, peaceful presence delight in dawn– Once Kanata had aged out, there’d ben no solace from them. Late night phone calls to assuage his fears just weren’t the same. They just left Yuki with an unshakable sense of guilt.
Instead of refreshed, Yuki greets the morning with prevalent exhaustion. he sighs, consigning himself to the day ahead- There won’t be much reprieve to be had- the notion of social contact is suddenly exhausting. But there are very few things in this world that Yuki does not face with a smile. This will be no different.
He greets everyone cheery and happy, Luka included- Daylight is never as harsh on his heart. In loving company, it’s easy to pretend nothing at all troubles him. If Luka sees beyond what facade he plays, Yuki does not move to address it. He does, however, find time to pull Luka aside and quietly– “Thank you for…”
Perhaps Yuki hasn’t thought about how he wants to go about this.
“For helping me, for staying with me– You’re always..so kind to me. I probably would never have gotten rest if you hadn’t done that for me.” Luka is a comfort and a blessing– And a mystery.
He feels that any proffered questions are carefully avoided. That Luka withdraws from him in careful, calculated measure, but Yuki has absolutely no idea what to do about it. He’s hopeful that nothing worldendingly catastrophic happens after classes- maybe then they could find some time to themselves. Some measure of peace that isn’t at three in the morning.
“I – I want to ask something of you, but I”m afraid.” Leaps and bounds of terror, more like He wants to ask Luka for his time, time to them and to only them, but there’s so many reasons to fear– What if Luka says no? Worse, what if Luka wants to say no, but feels he cannot refuse?
“You know you can be honest with me, right? I mean– If you ever wanted to say – something. You don’t have to…” Oh, he feels stupid, face flushing scarlet. “You don’t have to be around me….if you don’t want to – I mean.” He finishes slowly, feeling foolish and anxiety ridden. “I don’t want you to spend time with me, because of…”
Of a sense of duty.
“Because you feel like you don’t have a choice.”
He had spent almost the entire night by Yuki's side, only leaving just an hour or so before he awoke. Luka hadn't wanted Yuki to worry more than he does already with everything else, wondering if Luka had gotten any sleep at all. Thus leaving before stirring awake to the day. ❝ i made pumpkin cookies! want to try one? ❞
Cookies, made by Yuki. Luka blinks a few times then looks down at the offering hands. In them a few badly shaped cookies. Slightly on the rough side, but it was usually the effort that made them which makes it worth the while. At least that’s something that’s been told by others. Luka didn’t know what to expect. Looking closer he could see Yuki had put much into them. There was still some of the ingredients under his fingernails. Traces of it all over him in fact.
It’s not something Luka points out, just passes it off as if nothing. Wouldn’t want him feeling awkward or embarrassed. If it had been Toko or someone else, perhaps he would have. With no ill intent of course, just the honest truth.
Instead, Luka reaches for two of the cookies, taking a bite of one of them. He works it in his mouth, eyes closed. This wasn’t the first time he started eating ‘junk food’ or anything other than the proper meals. But it has become a habit. Preferring this over the meals that were cooked for them. This however, was a treat, for him, made by Yuki. Doubtfully it was just meant for him, but he won’t know, since he doesn’t ask.
Slowly, Luka opens his eyes, gaze still on the cookie in his hand. Half eaten. “This is good.” He said before putting the rest in his mouth. He had once compared the household professional cook’s food to ramen. But was beyond that. Anyone else could think otherwise. Luka, had already made up his mind. The moment the cookies had been offered. “Thank you, Yuki.” Luka takes a few more, maybe certain someone’s wouldn’t get some of Yuki’s cookies. Well thought greedy Duras.
Panic, frothy and hot in his throat. He kneels beside Luka, where the Duras rests, injured, with his back to the wall. "Luka--? Luka stay with me okay? Stay awake..." gentle hands cup his face, tender and warm and pleading him to stay. Luka will likely never forgive him if he used his power to heal this ailment. So he waits instead for an answer and blinks back the tears collecting stars on his lashes.

A firm hand landed on Luka's shoulder. The Zweilt looked over at the Duras, a look attempting to convey 'we're with you'
It seemed like all was lost. Beaten, but not defeated. Luka closed his eyes for a moment to focus. Reign his emotions, those that he didn't always share openly with the rest of the Zweit. As he does, a hand is felt upon his shoulder. Seeing as he wasn't exactly surrounded by the enemy, but by those that Yuki calls friends and he considered ally. Luka opens his eyes, turning he glances with those silvery duos to Kuroto. They were short one person, Yuki. Everyone was beat and aching to the bone. But nothing they were not used to. With that shred of confidence that is conveyed by Kuroto, though wordlessly. That expression is unmistakable. To which, Luka nods in response.
Touch my muse. Be descriptive or simple, tender or violent, fond or hateful - anything goes.
"For some reason, being near you makes me happy."
Was it possible for him to smile? Yes. It was something that only occured in the company of Yuki. It would be close to none with anyone else. He would offer a shoulder for any to cry on. But having the Opast express something other than that, never. It’s Yuki’s words that tug at the very muscles that form that soft smile upon his features. How should he bring himself to say, that those words alone, make Luka glad. Rather than words, it would seem that he has conveyed the very thought, with expression alone.
He lift his hand, reaching over where they sat, and soothed Yuki’s hair some. It was a simply kind gesture, but as he is withdrawing his hand. His index and thumb fingers take a short lock of his hair. Much like he would have done with Yuki in the past with her long hair. How he loved it. Shame that it was cut so short, though understandable considering the changes.
It means a lot to Luka to be able to hear this directly from Yuki. For he was always in the middle of something, conflicted with occurances that were close to the heart. Duties and responsibilities mounting on him heavily. Luka liked seeing him this happy, hardly sad. That was a good thing. And with him admitting this, made him absolutely glad indeed.
Before he knows it. Luka had eased that wandering hand that was playing with the lock of hair, was now upon Yuki’s cheek. It withdraws eventually, not meaning to leave that lingering sensation upon his face. But it would possibly be something to happen, unintentionally, caught in the moment. A sound from Luka, as his smile deepened.
"I think I’d miss you, even if we’d never met."
And like that. Yuki says, a surprised Luka rendered speechless. Had they never met, he would still miss him. It might as well be a fleeting feeling, because he would never be able to place a face to it. With Luka not around, he would probably be saved of the constant bits of reminder that haunt his dreams and waking moments. While taking the moment to fathom those words,
Luka steps forward. Closing the gap that existed between them. What they had been talking about prior, forgotten. Luka’s arms wrapped around Yuki. One pulled him tightly against him, the other he pressed a hand to the back of his head. It was a pained fill embrace. Mindful not to be too smothering. But that was exactly what Luka wanted to do. Keep him like this and never let go. Without having to utter anything, have him remember if it were of his own choosing. That was asking too much, he thought to himself. Selfish of him. Luka sighs deep down, the sound barely leaving his lips.
But the rumble that travels up his chest, then neck, leaves his lips, speaking. “Perhaps if I was never around, it could have saved you on some measure of pain. But I would be going back on my word, leaving you on your own in your most darkest of hours. I could never have allowed that.” He wouldn’t, because Takashiro had warned him a while back that perhaps, he should refrain from being around Yuki so much. Not trusting much around Yuki. Luka made sure to be there at his side for those very reasons.
To have never met him however. It would have destroyed Luka. Tormented himself perhaps by staying in the shadows. A mere force his always been when watching Yuki grow up. Protecting him. Maybe this could have surficed. However, this isn’t something he speaks about. He had said what he could say. Nothing more.
Only I know your pain, your anguish and your loneliness… If only it could be just us, together for all time. If you wish for that as well, I will promise over and over again that… I will never betray you!
// There is a little hiccup in my inter webs. I will have to get back to my replies later. Till then, don’t do anything Luka wouldn’t do. ;)
