❛ You don’t miss much, do you? ❜

He couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at the other. Now, Dum Dum wasn’t necessarily the brightest man in the world, but he definitely wasn’t born yesterday. He was more than capable of catching some of the subtleties in other people’s actions. And in all honesty? Well. While James Barnes might be a decently subtle sort of man…his buddy? Jesus Christ. Dugan had never seen a guy more blatantly obvious. It was almost embarrassing.
“Not really. Did I miss you and the good Captain having a lively conversation? A bit difficult to do.” Argument more likely, but at least the idiots had the sense not to broadcast that fact with their voices. Bad enough that Dugan had caught on. But really, it was difficult not to notice, considering how squirrely the good captain had gotten. Not to mention the stomping around and the way that two assholes that usually spent a great deal of time together were avoiding each other.
It didn’t take a genius like Howard to figure that one out. Dugan shook his head, reaching into his pocket for a pack of cigarettes. When he was faced with a conversation that he didn’t enjoy, or at least irked him, he was more inclined to smoking. But then…he was more inclined to smoke in general now, so perhaps it was just the time for another damn cigarette. If he had to continue to watch two leading members of the team squabble…well then he deserved several dozen.
“Are mom and dad going to make up already, or do I have to go find a new job?” Dugan finally asked, turning to face Sarge as he lit his cigarette. “Can’t plan the next Hydra party if you two don’t get it together. Don’t gotta spell it out for ya here do I Sarge?” He inhaled a delightful breath and let out the smoke with a sigh. “Maybe I do. Alright. If the two highest rankin’ officers of the Commandos are on the outs, this team will cease to function. Can’t let it get so…personal. There’s a war on…apparently.”
